hell yeah let's quickly set up a myspace to whore out some of my old music
quickly thrown-together metal without vocals for those of you who don't like screaming or growling [http://www.myspace.com/musicalfreedomnoise]

it doesn't have vocals, but there's some lead guitars there, shame about the lack of talent. listen to 03, the end bit, I like that.

I'm still doing stuff now, but it's a lot grittier

My old band

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE256Q0NoiA

My new band has a gig tomorrow night, and the one in the clip is playing at one of Brisbane's raddest venues in November.

I'm the bass player btw.
Woah! That's some classy rock!
What's the new band like?
The funny thing is, that song started off as a smooth R&B ballad..

The new band is kind of okay, I don't like the covers we are doing very much, most of them are house or electro tracks. The original is pretty cool though, I channelled my inner Daft Punk for the bassline, its exciting. I'll see if I can get a copy up for you guys.

I play every rock instrument(guitar bass drums) and I'm in a band, but we have had like no practices. I'm in the process of making my own music and forming a second band, I can't sing great but I'm getting there and I can write some pretty epic lyrics sometimes.

I'll make another post once I get my music goinggg

I make "audio anarchy" with my pc, usually something falling in the realms of noise, glitch, or musique concrete. For example, I recently made a speedgrind remix of

I haven't put anything I've made on the internet though, as I haven't really made anything that I'm truly happy with, and most of the stuff I make is just me playing around, nothing really serious.

But I've got enough instruments and audio equipment to run a small studio, so maybe one of these days i'll get some free time and get around to doing something serious :D.
BOOOooo! i opened the vid thinking it was your remix!
I love electronic, put some stuff up on a http://www.purevolume.com site so I can hear!

Why does your music have to be serious? I just like having fun when I'm recording//producing, I make the music for me and if others enjoy it, then it's a bonus ^_^

I play a lot of music, I haven't recorded anything yet though. Recording equipment is too damn expensive.

I play guitar and saxophone. I got stuck playing drums for my friend's gig a couple of weeks from now. Their drummer won't be there because of Rosh Hashannah (sp?) or something like that.

You're doing covers of electro tracks... :|

Sorry to be blunt but that's a serious waste of talent imo. Though I am partial to Daft Punk, as long as you're not covering bands like Sneaky Sound System...

Would be keen to hear some stuff though!

Nonsense, if you've got a computer and a soundcard you can record.

All you need is some software, plug in your instrument and you're away!

It's not that I'm really serious, it's just that I'm really "concious" of a lot of art I make, so most of it never sees the light of day... But I have started showing stuff to people, so maybe there is hope for me after all ^_^.
If I do finally decide to put something on the net, I'll let you know :p.
I know where you're coming from, just start showing it to a few close friends to build up your confidence and pretty soon you'll be excited to show lots of other peoples :)

I play a variety of instruments, though more for my own benefit than anything. Never really saw the appeal of a band.

I'm planning on grabbing a nice tenor sax for Christmas. It'll definitely be different, seeing as up until then I've only played stringed instruments.

That's some pretty good stuff. Your guitarist has some especially fine riffs.

OT: I've never been a part of a band, but I've always wanted to. I've written some stuff that I think is okay; now all I need is someone talented to play it for me.

You try "Plugging in" a drum kit then. It's harder than it sounds, I'd need a few mics first, and they would have to hook up to a mixer. Just to buy those things it would be a few hundred dollars, and I don't exactley have a steady income.

Hahah, we played a Sneaky Sound System medley ~.^

I think those songs, as much as I'm not into em, are far from a waste of talent. We chucked a drum solo in Weekend and Rock Your Body, reharmonized (different chords, same melody) the outro to Rock Your Body, put in a massive keys solo in the SSS medley and my fills in Umbrella were pretty out-there.

Even if we didn't add all that stuff we had a fair bit of work to do, keeping those songs tight was a massive challenge (and pretty vital, considering they are all groove based) and the vocals were pretty tough. The songs themselves were pretty out there as well - The chord progression for weekend is I-ii-#i-biv and where did that flat 5 diminished come from in Don't Hold Back.

What I'm getting at is you can't write off these songs because they appear simple, they usually have some weird shit going on, and the fact that they managed to make them so accessible is more power to them.

All in all I think we played harder then your average pub rock band playing Fuel and Oasis covers.

Sorry, didn't know you were on drums mate :|
Pretty much any other instrument though, you could do it with. I've recorded Bass//Guitar through a line-in and it works a charm, vocals through a $50 microphone and run a few enhancement filters through it to clean it up and it's almost studio-quality.

On the other hand, if you had an electronic drum-kit - that might solve your problems... though those puppies aren't really cheap either :(

Although I play drums and am currently working on a train version of "I'm On A Boat", I am not much for making music. I'm simply not soulful enough to compose anything great.

What would you want to learn?
It's very easy to self teach nowadays, there's dedicated sites on the internetz that show you for free!
As for musical instruments, you can pick up guitars pretty cheap from eBay or the like.
That's a good starting instrument imo :)

I try so hard to make a band but the other guys aren't as enthusiastic to even practice the songs we agree on.
