The lack of Beastie Boys in your statement angers and confuses me.
Haha, right, I forgot them. What I was referring more to was the rap/rock fad that swept pop music in the late-90s. Beastie Boys was much much much earlier so I forgot to consider them.

Actually, you know what band sounds a damn lot like Marik2's example? POD. Rap/rock + christian themes? Yup. Those guys were an oddity, but a briefly enjoyable one. Haven't thought about them in... at least 6 years.

If were going to admit guilty pleasures.

Although this album received really negative reviews, especially for Sage Francis, there are about 3-4 songs making that album almost redeemable, including the only Rap/Rock song I've liked post 90s.

Can't go wrong with Daft Punk.

Just a snippet of the weird and wacky world of Gorillaz.

An emotional song by the equally awesome (yes, all of these bands are amazing) Coldplay.

Enjoy all 3 and remember that it's the Prime Time of Your Life, if you're feeling low their songs will Fix You. Get on Feel Good Inc good sir!

I know this song is overplayed, but the band is first-rate:

Considering they have 36 years of recording under their belt and new studio albums on the way, you'll be busy for a looooooonnnnnng time!

I dunno, I listen to mostly electronic music.
Pendulum has one song that delves into metal.
Other than that if you want some electronica of any sort I can provide :D
:D Holy crap, that's Anders Fridén and the rest of In Flames. Nice selection, my good sir.

The closest I got is Enter Shikari, Against Me!, Between Me and The Buried *Really good band, probably the highest rated Metalcore band by critics" Cynic, Atheist and La Dispute

Other stuff somewhat close would be Radiohead, Bad Religion, Thrice and Mastodon.

Music I would recommend to any connoisseur of music would be The XX, Sigur Ros / Jonsi , Nujabes, Flaming Lips and Neutral Milk Hotel.
"Did some one just mention Mastodon"

*Clears throat*

"FILL YOU LUNGS WITH BLOOD AND THUNDER!!!!"
"WHEN YOU SEE THE WHITE WHALE!!!!"
"BREAK YOUR BACKS AND CRACK YOU OURS MEN!!!!"
"IF YOU WISH TOO PREVAIL!!!!"

"THIS IVORY LEG IS WHAT COMPELS ME!!!!"
"HARPOONS THRUST IN THE SKY!!!!"
"MAKE SURE TO AIM ABOVE ABOVE HIS CROOKED BROW!!!!"
"AND LOOK HIM STRAIGHT IN THE EYE!!!!!"

"WHITE WHALE, HOLY GRAIL!!!!"

"Had to do that!" :D

How can you not love a concept album based around Moby Dick.

As much as I love Moby the artist, his name is bullshit.

Allright. Here are a few with some meat.

Give a listen to The Moody Blues. Check out the album 'The question of balance.'

Give a listen to the Tea for the Tillerman album by Cat Stevens.

Offspring 'Smash' is a true classic. As is Dookie from Greenday.

Metric's Fantasies is damn fine work.

Eddy Vedders 'Into the wild' soundtrack is outstanding.

These will probably fit the criterior of new for you...but give them a chance, they have true meat and roots of rock.

Check out the album "Deathconsciousness" by Have A Nice Life. Its a '2 disk' album though it isn't a concept album or anything, the second half has some of the better songs on the album.

Give "Loveless" by My Bloody Valentine a listen. Amazing album (in my opinion)

If you're looking for something a little heavier, then give "From Mars to Sirius" by Gojira a listen.

I've got a ton of stuff. So if you're interested in anything, let me know.

At the moment my two favorite bands are Kamelot...
High five!!! My favorite song from them right now is Center of the Universe.

OT- Check out Nightwish. They are basically Kamelot only with a female singer. Also for some reason Enya just fits well (that could just be me) and if you don't listen to Trans-Siberican Orchestra your insane!!!

I am bound by my musical experience to say Hurt. Honest to god they have maybe the most range for a "metal" and then "pop" (they're more genre defying) band ever.
Just look them up, that song is only a small portion of what they do. Also A Day to Remember isn't bad, you might like them if you like All That Remains in the loosest sense. Lets see... Atreyu's Lead Sails (And a Paper Anchor) album is pretty good.
Thats all I go atm

Its outside of your style that you mention but these bands are pretty good (bearing in mind that I love poets of the fall, muse and metallica as well);

Everlast, Dan le sac vs Scroobius Pip and Devin Townsend band (although to be fair it entirely depends on the album you pick up, I recommend Biomech/Ocean Machine).
