Recently, I went to see a musical, and while I didn't care much for it (it was Billy Elliot, if you must know) I got to thinking about why there aren't any musicals based on games. There are musicals harvested from the realms of movies and books, but why not games? Personally, I think this could be a good thing for some games. Assassin's Creed's long-winded dialogs would certainly benefit from music.

So what games do you think would make good musicals? Which ones would you actually pay to see? Personally, apart from Assassin's Creed, I really want to see a Fallout 3 musical.

Halo. Don't look at me like that, it would be awesome. Same goes for the film.

I agree. I would enjoy a Halo film or musical immensely.

Monkey Island, because the theme song is great. Grand Theft Auto, in which all the characters will snap their fingers before, during and after gang fights. Ico, because those shadow guys would be much more intimidating if they danced. And Indigo Prophecy, because it would probably make more sense than the game.

We've already had a discussion on a Bioshock musical. I for one would love to see it. Provided it's good, of course.

GTA would also make a good one. Think how successful a more current, gritter West Side Story would be. Very.

The fortresses and the castles. The caves and the trees
But my arms are so sore, too tierd to hit the keys!

So I'm affraid this is it. O honnored integrity

you should seriously write the Obli musical, then find a buch of escapist users to put it together... it would be epic.

Also, Mass Effect musical. its already drawn out by all that speach (not complaining buyt it does get long winded tat times, even for a rpg fan like me) , we might as well put it into song.

Yes. in the first part he could be good, them turn evil for the second half.

Here's a song for the evil part:
I love to plot
I love to scheme
ever since my childhood, it has been my dream
I love to plan
such evil schemes
I think about them, even in my dreams

BIOSHOCK the MUSICAL. (obligatory plug) http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.110873

Yes indeed my friend, yes INDEED. Musicals are awesome, and I actually am working on this still if you'd want to help out.

ON TOPIC WITHOUT PLUGS: Besides Bioshock, I would think a Metal Gear Opera would be fantastically hilarious.

Now THERE would be some material to mess with in a musical. the score for the musical would of course have to be done by the guy who actually DOES the Silent Hill music, I honestly think that if done in it's rightfully dark tone, a Silent Hill musical could actually work.

But for humor's sake...

"I am the PYRAMIDman..

..They are the SkinMen,

..I am THE WALRUS! Koo koo ka Choo.."

Just had to throw that in there.

I guess if they kept it in the same dark, scary tones as Sweeney Todd... There's a possibility...

But still:

"Oh Jaaaaaames!
You did a baaaaaad thing!~
And now I will kill Maria
Agaaaaaaaaaain!~
"

Pyramid Head singing...
That's going to be in my head aaaall day...
