OH YOU! Running around making incredible music with incredible instruments while far less talented people like me sit back and scratch their heads in confusion and envy
Seriously though..That's an extremely sexy guitar, I think my bass teacher owns one actually
Do you have any recordings of just your guitar playing? That's something I've been dying to see
I've been playing guitar for about 2 years now. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it, but I can't play a solo to save my life. I have two guitars: a Yamaha acoustic and a second hand Fender knock off my aunt gave me. It's not in the best condition, but it sounds good enough.
1. Electric Guitar (Peavey Predator Plus EXP ST)
2. Acoustic guitar (Seagull s6 cutaway)
3. Electric bass (Ibanez GSR200)
4. Violin (Amati, though it's a rental)
5. Harmonica (C scale is the only one I have)
6. My silky smooth voice (U MAD BRO?)
I primarily the electric guitar. I mostly use my ESP LTD EC-1000 Deluxe for playing teh metalz. It's also in Vintage Black so it's the exact same make and color in the image below.
I also have an Alvarez R96 acoustic guitar and a Squire Affinity Strat Special (an electric guitar). I have some sort of Zoom multi-effect pedal along with a Boss SD-1 Overdrive and a 15 Watt Hartke Amp. I'm looking into upgrading my amp at the moment. I've been playing guitar for 5 years and have never had any sort of lesson. I'm fairly self-disciplined and play almost everyday if possible.
I've always liked those danelectros... they're nice guitars... though it'd seem to me that you need a better amp... probably one with a bit more wattage...<.<
Well not strictly loudness... honestly quality is a big factor with smaller practice amps... especially in solid state and digital amps... and if that's the Roland micro cube I'm thinking of, it's 5 inch speaker will hardly do justice to any guitar in terms quality...<.<
Unless of course you're having it bombarded by all those pedals... in which case it doesnt matter a whole lot... also if you're playing hardcore or death metal than tone doesn't mean a damn thing... but seeing as how you have a Danelectro I doubt that's the case...<.<

I only ever have the Overdrive on (with the amp on clean) and use the pedals whenever I feel they are needed. They are off most of the time.
I did the use fuzz quite a lot but because it uses a proprietary power connector (grrr) and I haven't gotten around to buying an adapter for it I have the pedal in "time out" right now. Batteries cost too much for the length of time that they last.
But hey, the amp got some pretty good reviews so I hardly think it's the worst out there. It was very positive across the board.
Well for a micro amp... but reviews hardly mean a whole lot... I mean especially since it in a lot of ways comes down to personal preference... but if you're using clean tones a lot, very few things can compare to a hand picked tube amp...<.<
I don;t use many pedals, since the good ones are pretty expensive... so I just have two amps and a splitter... one amp for clean and the other for high gain stuff... I mean those Johnson amps actually have a good range of achievable sounds just from the amp... and no one remembers them so anything Johnson is cheap as fuck... I think I got those 20 watt amps for like $50...<.<

Firstly, I phrased that badly. I have the overdrive on 99% of the time. The amp has these little "profiles" like rock, metal, acoustic etc. I just use the clean mode with the OD pedal.
You have to understand that I am playing for a hobby. I doubt I'll ever get "internet skill" from what I've seen of people online.
I play for my own enjoyment as I just don't have the drive to pour hours into the hobby. I play an hour or so every day at that's fine for me.
I get that there is so much more I could achieve but right now I'm happy just learning/playing a few news songs every so often, maybe do a few of those online lessons and just go from there. Learning some scales and chords has done me fine so far. I did the whole "beginners course" form justinguitar.com then have pissed about for the last few months doing what I said above.
I guess I look like some kind of dirty casual player or something (I don't know) but I don't think it's worth me dropping £300 on an amp I'm only going to use alone and at low volumes. Just doesn't seem right.
Those Firebrands are sweet guitars... had the chance to play a couple different variations a few times... and mah favorite guitarist used to use one... though I'm more of a single coil guy I can certainly appreciate this axe...<.<
I play guitar, have done since I was about eight, which makes it about 12 years I have played for now. Have studied music for 2 years out of highschool and have a Diploma in music. Favourite genres to play are blues, jazz, and hardcore. I dabble in other instruments, harmonica, piano, drums. I play a Gretsch 5120 with a average Marshall 120DFX with a few pedals. My favourite guitar player would be either Kenny Burrell or Stevie Ray Vaughan.
I'm interested to see what kind of Musicians we have here on the Escapist, and what instruments those musicians play and what their favorite styles of music are
So, I want to hear about your whole setup, doesn't matter what it is, Guitar, Violin, Drums, Clarinet, Whatever it is, I wanna know about it and why you chose to start playing, who influences you, and how long you've been playing
As for myself, I'm a bassist
I play a rather beautiful Musicman Stingray 4, I love it more than anything else in the world, It sounds incredible, even when it's played through my horrible amp, (which was, presumably made by a hoover manufacturer)...Still sounds incredible
I've been playing bass for about 2 years now. I chose the bass over Guitar for the main reason that playing guitar just isn't as interesting in my eyes, and I much prefer the sound of the bass over that of the Regular Six String
As for my playing style and influences: I'd say one of my biggest influences in playing style is Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
I absolutely adore the punchy sound he gets while playing, so I've adopted the same aggressive playing that he uses to achieve his sound.
The guy who actually got me to start playing bass is Barry Fratelli from The Fratellis, Once I heard the intro to Chelsea Dagger, I remember thinking to myself "That's what I want to do"
The Musicman above is my third bass, I own A Yamaha RBX 170, which isn't actually worth mentioning and an Acoustic bass made by Cheetah which is incredibly useful at times
My amp is a shitty little thing made by Ashton, I bought it for £150, I didn't actually try it out because back then I was literally tone deaf and didn't understand how much of a difference an amp can make to one's sound.. I regret it so badly..But it get's the job done
So that's me! Three Basses, One Incredible, One Decent, and One utterly shit...
Now let's hear about you!
Edit: It would actually be seriously cool if people put up some recordings of their playing, if they have any footage lying around, Because there's some really interesting stuff on this thread and I'd quite like to hear lots of you guys playing if you've got any videos?
I play bass and Guitar with working knowledge in key boards and drums.
My Guitar is just a simple Fender Strat
and my Bass is a Peavy Millenium
I use Peavy 30 Wat Amps
Pedals are metal distortion, ds-1 distortion, and a vox wah pedal.
I have had some problems with feedback every now and then, but nothing too radical. As a hollow body they are prone to feedback, but I have only really experienced this at rather loud volumes and most of the time with gain or distortion. Most of the stuff I play with the Gretsch is jazz or blues so there isn't really any heavy gain or loud volumes.
I play classical guitar, electric guitar, electric bass, piano, mandolin and charango. My favorite guitar right now is my black Wasburn V, but I will be buying a 10 string classical guitar in a few days which I feel will overtake it.
My favorite genres of music are unique prog metal, and modern classical guitar music.
I'm a rockin guitarist who can't keep the thousand chicks from reaching up to the stage like they are all begging for my junk!
Ok ok, I play the electric keyboard, but I'm too poor to buy a full sized one. So I can play a slightly up-tuned version of Linkin Park's "In the End" and thats about it!
Thank God I married a woman before she knew my true self...
I'm currently rocking a Casio Privia digital piano in my room with a Yamaha baby grand in my specially converted garage, plus a massive set of taiko drums.
remember..it ony counts as an instrument if its strings, percussion or wind [footnote/]yeah...I know I should shut up about that...but it was a very memorable incident[/footnote]
umm.....I once had piano lessons when I was a kid 0_0
I've been playing drums for 14 years so far, though I'm fairly rusty, since I only play for fun nowadays.
Bought this keyboard last spring, because why not? Piano is pretty much the perfect instrument.
I do regret buying a noob 61 key keyboard instead of the full 88 though. I'll probably buy a proper electric piano sometime fairly soon.
I have two guitars, which I basically haven't touched in almost a year, even though I've been playing on and off for almost longer than I've played drums.
My Cort is a darker blue though, and in far worse shape.
With the exception of this one, I hate Stratocasters. >=(
EDIT: I forgot!
I have one of these too! Seems not only bassplayers get neglected, but the actual instrument as well! This is the instrument I'm the worst at out of the bunch. I still haven't changed the strings it came with when I bought it, and I've had it for over five years. Sorry for the massive image, but it was the only one that looked the same.
I play Jazz Bass, the instrument type, and the play style... also I used to play Piano, classical style, and cello.
Currently have a Fender Squier J Bass, too lazy to post a pic, since it would require me actually looking for one somewhere. If you really wanna see it, just google it.
