It might as well cause just as much of a controversy as the airport shooting scene in MW2... although you would think that you would've seen some children in the airport so I'd be funny to see everyone make such a big deal out of this.

Okay, now that I have actually seen this I can say something about it.

One. Simple. Thing.

Why did that blow up there?
Seriously, did you see anyone there other than the wife, kid and guy shooting the video? Why not drive it into big ben and blow it up there? Now THAT would be serious terrorism. And it was right in front of the driver too. I seriously don't get why it exploded right there.

Oh, and those poor birds. They didn't deserve such a horrible fate, though those pesky humans certainly did. Especially that kid, running up the those beautiful, peaceful birds and trying to ruin their day.

Seriously people, we've seen much worse from this franchise and even other games.

Woah.

I'm not shocked by the child-killing (was mild - with no control you might as well be watching a film, and I've I've seen a lot worse in mainstream films), but the godawful 'Hey kids! You're in London!' prompts were so cheesy. What can we count...

1) Football (Soccer ball)
2) Black Cab
3) Big Ben (well..pedantically the Clock Tower)
4) Post box
5) Pigeons
6) Union Flag
7) Union Flag (again!!!)
8) Red Telephone Box
9) Double-decker bus
10) OTT Mockney accent

Using one or two is good scene-setting, but that's overkill. You might as well have a Beefeater walking down the road...

Please fix the damn title of your thread in order to avoid spoiling the damn story for more people.

Thanks for ruining it for me by the way.
To be honest, the scene sucks and doesn't add to the storyline in the slightest, so long as you avoid actually watching the video you've lost nothing.

Not that the thread shouldn't have had a spoiler warning on it, just saying you don't really have much to worry about.

Honestly it was just a stupid scene. It has no real purpose in the game and all you learn is that a bomb went off, which could have been done in a thousand different ways.

I normally wouldn't care except it's so painfully obvious that they planted this scene in here just for the attention and "controversy" it would cause. Kids have been killed in other games but there was almost always a reason for it if they decided to cross that line.

yeah we've seen worse, but most didn't miss the point as bad as the COD games do, they killed a kid for shock value, kids that die in other games are to show harsh reality for the most part. Not to mention, it made sense. if you study the bombing and the gas, youd realize it was a VERY poor attempt. Most chemical attacks work best in bombardments or in secluded places where air does not escape very easy. and was it just me, or was downtown London about as empty as you could get for one of the world biggest cities? seriously those pigeons where the only other living thing on those streets.

the scene is just stupid and forced in for no reason.

also, number of playable characters that get killed in this game are already growing and it isn't even released yet.

The intention is probably the exact opposite as they try to show how terrible and brutal war is.

Please change the title. I understand not everyone likes CoD, but I enjoy the single player. And don't want it to be spoiled. So can a mod just change the title or someone do it please.

Meh I don't care. Call of Duty has desensitized me to violence unless it's really psychologically disturbing, intensely graphic, but more importantly it has to be a character that has been characterized.

If you want the death of a child to have impact, make them a character in the storyline. Make the player relate to the idea of being their father, make her a meaningful character. Killing a character that I just meet 60 seconds before their demise has no impact. If it were real life, it would have an impact on me, but this is an artificial environment so it takes more than just "look at the happy little girl" for 60 seconds to make me care.

The developers must have put this in for it's perceived shock value. They also knew that this would spark controversy, which would help to sell their game the same way "No Russian" did. "No Russian" had more of an impact because it was actually YOU who had to kill the innocent rather than just watching the innocent die.

I came across this very randomly, http://www.allgamesbeta.com/2011/11/modern-warfare-3-child-death-outrage.html or http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=dZhRNAeE9rk

Please take a minute to judge the video. You watched it ? Good, Okay as we can clearly see in what appears to be MW3 a child is killed by a bomb blast. Will this cause unnecessary controversy ? and what are your opinions ?

My opinion: I honestly don't have a problem with it, it's sad and a little disturbing but really I don't see it crossing any limits, the player is not actually interacting in anyway it's really just a cut scene and their have been far worse things in games then this so I'll happily let it pass.
Can you please change the title so we know its a spoiler. I understand not everyone likes CoD or cares about it. But I enjoy the single player and don't want anything spoiled, and now I have this. I haven't watched it so I won't know when it happens, but still.

People using the deaths of children to try to hit home hard has been a technique used in fiction for years and years and years. It's not like the PC shoots the child or anything.

Damn! You're so right! Quick, where did I leave my tinfoil hat?

Also, how the fuck is this a spoiler at all? It doesn't say which child, why the child dies, how the child dies, what importance the death of the child has to the plot. This isn't a fucking spoiler, guys.

hey has anyone you watched CNN lately? there was a top story of children protesting in Kenya and being beaten by police officers for doing so, if people think a collection of ones and zero's being "killed" by a bomb in a video game is controversial then they've got some problems

Here we go again with the effing do good'ers and other left wing twats. Its not violent, its not graphic. Now you see little Annie playing on the footpath, POOF! shes gone! big deal. I seam to remember cutting down scores of Russians at an airport a few years ago, and need i say it, but grand theft auto anyone? manhunt, solider of fortune, all these games depicting scenes of graphic violence far worse than a little girl mimicking David Copperfield.

Thanks for spoiling part of the game for me.
As for what I think of it, whatever. No Russian wasn't a big deal and neither was this.

even though they are failing completely, but then again these people who make the games cant even categorize or name their weapons correctly so im not surprised.

The only issue is that Call of Duty is at the forefront of mainstream gaming. When people think of video games they think of Call of Duty, and when they think of Call of Duty they think of airport massacres and the death of children. I love CoD, but the developers are only asking for trouble, unless this game has an incredibly complex and emotional storyline--and this is Call of Duty we're talking about--this is only going to further advance the idea that video games are inappropriate and dangerous.
