I have a confession to make. Im a 21 year old man who live in China, and I dont know how to ride a bike :(. My parents never really taught me plus its not like we could afford a bike back then, so i took it upon myself to learn. Well i tried it yesterday but all i succeed in was busting my ass and head on the ground. So does anybody here have a tip on riding a bike?

Just get a friend who has tons of patience to help you.
Then, find a grassy field.
Have them push you at first, and gradually wean yourself off of their help.

Worked pretty well when I was teaching my girlfriend how to ride a bike.

Bikes are overated. Anyone can ride one. Learn how to ride a Tiger!! Now that's something to be proud of.

Trial and error. You'll get it soon enough. That's how I learned.

Oh, and find something soft to fall on.

Don't fall.
Much like riding a Dirt Bike or Four-wheeler, this logic applies.

Just start off easy, and don't overdo it. Get your friend behind you the first few seconds, and you'll be pedaling yourself while you'll never know it.

YOu need balance, balance is very important, once you know how to place and displace your weight you have it down,

Why go half way?

People will be more in awe of you.

You know they saw you never forget how to ride one, well I must have memory loss becuase I tried to a couple of weeks ago having not rode one in about ten years and failed miserably.

My tip is practice at night, and just keep at it i guess.

I kinda learned, and I'm A TEEN and don't ride it. i never liked going fast.
I always liked walking better.
I'm ashamed.
But yeah, just find a friend to guide you at first, find a big empty place and try to ride over and over and over.
I got it with in the hour...

Find a friend(who knows how to ride), go to an empty parking lot, remember to focus and keep your balance. You should be fine, it's pretty easy to learn.

Its not too hard, have someone push you first, than after a while have them let go, you will be riding. Wear some protective gear, and this will take a few tries

speed a little with your foot before you start pedaling, being static is the hardest way to balance

Yeah, don't use a grassy field. It makes it way harder to keep your balance.
May I add that you shouldn't try to turn off a road onto a grassy path? I did that once and instantly lost control and flipped over along with my bike, which missed my head by a fairly narrow margin. Luckily I didn't fall down the steep slope into a rocky creek.

But to the OP, just try some more. When I finally tried to get off training wheels in 4th or 5th grade I first thought I would never succeed. The next day I was able to ride a bike without assistance.

Damn right. Now I want something like that.

OT: As everyone else said get a friend to help. If you can't, get tons of pads to reduce pain if you fall off, then just try it until you get it.
