Yeah, don't use a grassy field. It makes it way harder to keep your balance.
Actually, it's a good idea to do it in a grassy area. When you graduate from the increased resistance to the bike, it will be MUCH easier to ride the road because you're level of balance is even higher than that of someone whom trained on a road or sidewalk.

Bikes are overated. Anyone can ride one. Learn how to ride a Tiger!! Now that's something to be proud of.
i dont think riding a tiger is something to be proud of but if you like getting ripped limb from limb then used as a play toy then okay yeah

Should've countered with a joke there, mate.

Something like, "Cool, then I can attach tigers to where my limbs used to be!" or somesuch.

Hur... I'm 17 and I can't ride a bike either. :p Yet, I can ride a horse and have, in five years, never fallen off.

I suggest the "Get Fed up and make an anti-bike terrorist organization" then you can conquer China and make people carry you around, OR you could ride tigers everywhere after you conquer China. But I really do suggest partnering up with a certain baby pummeling Chinchilla and take over the rest of the planet with him. (Yes, all this because of a bike)

Sometimes...even too many Tigers can be to many Tigers.

Don't worry. I don't know how to ride one either so your not alone. (Sorry for no advice. Just thought you'd need some comforting words)

I see what you did there, but you're sadly mistaken. You always need more tiger. There is never too many tigers.

OT: I would suggest just going ahead and learning. It won't be too difficult.

No Kinslayer. One must know when too many Tigers are too many Tigers. When he does he finally achieves something greater.

Its not that hard, I taught myself. Just takes time and practice.

Of course I live in Oregon, everyone here is practically born riding a bike :p

that sucks man, but my best advice is to not think about riding the bike, just sort of, relax.

Also, I've been staring at your avatar for the past 7 minutes.

Do what my dad did, make me ride on concrete next to grass so he can watch you hurt yourself when you fall and make you feel crap.

I never learned to ride a bike myself cuz my Dad left us when I was three and Mum was too busy trying to raise 2 kids and keep the house going on her crappy job. I would love to learn to ride a bike mind, would definitely get me to and from college much quicker.

If you're not afraid of falling hard (do remember that you aren't supposed to fall, just don't restrain yourself out of fear or so) and know of a straight road in a good state without much traffic: Go fast.

It's how I learnt it. If you go fast you don't have to worry much about balance and can get comfortable with the pedal movement. But don't go too fast, you still have to stop and steer a bit.

After a few times you should have an easier time with trying to ride properly.

I believe I was 6 at the time I learnt, perhaps physics have changed since then.
