Just felt that video was appropriate for this thread lol.

In all seriousness, Bronies would be less annoying if they just shut up every once in a while about MLP.

Nobody likes it when they're bombarded with any meme non-stop everywhere across the internet.

This isn't an Escapist issue, this is an Internet issue.

One problem. Since the first season came out and the initial rush of "OMG this shit is awesome!" type threads I haven't seen A. SINGLE. THREAD. Started by a brony/pony fan.

Seriously, the people that hate them/don't get it call them out or ask them to explain then when they DO explain/defend themselves the douche nozzles roll out and start whining about how so much as daring to talk about it/having a pony avatar means *gasp* FORCING THEIR FANDOM UPON THEM! [queue rolling thunder and lightning] Like it's some kind horrific fandom rape.

And god forbid someone suggest watching it if you haven't seen it! Oh no, then your some kind of cultist that seeks to enslave everyone to their pony based will. Because everyone knows suggesting someone tries new things = WORSE THAN HIT- uhh... WORSE THAN STALIN! (damn you Godwin)

Drama Queens the lot of you!

Post #9 on this thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.321834-A-less-brain-numbing-version-of-twilight] is why I'm really sick of bronies.
They don't like the book twilight and would rather hear about a differently named twilight? why is that so bad?
The fact that I'm going to have to explain it to you says that you're not ready to understand.

I'll try anyway.

Conversations about favorite breakfast cereals shouldn't suddenly have pony pictures in them because some one liked apple jacks. Discussions about Spike TV's fall schedule does not need dragons to appear. And a thread about gay pride needn't have a rainbow horse show up to say nothing more than "rainbow = gay colors = rainbow horse character". It's weak, it's lame, and it need to stop.

If you want to inject ponies into everything, at least talk about TV show cereal tie-ins like back in the 80's and 90's and say that MLP would make a good franchise to capitalize on. If you think Spike should be on Spike TV, make an argument on how MLP is a real man's show and they should put re-runs on it. The point is, you have to keep it topical. Diving into a conversation about sports and trying to force a reference to Drizzt Do'urden isn't going to win you any friends.

First, nice insulting me right off the bat, classy, second, perhaps your reading way to far into that post, I see your point but its not like he went on a rant or anything, just a "oh i get it same name, funny" type of post

I use it to make up for my complete lack of personality and generally being a very horrible person...Or I just think it's nice to have an avatar and keep it at that. Also the main people I interact with online are in brony groups but we kind of evolved past that and are just a group of friends now.

Maybe it's just the way each of us read into it, but it seemed far more to me that he was trying to hijack the thread and make it about ponies. He didn't add anything to the conversation, nor did he even suggest that merging ponies and Twilight would improve the books. He just stated he didn't want to talk about making the ideas in Twilight better, he just wanted to talk about ponies.

"Bronies" is really kind of an overused meme that started as a cutesy(and by that, I mean the obnoxious tendency for 4chan to make "bro" jokes about everything) little joke on /co/ and has become way overused and far outstayed it's welcome.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is just another show I like. And happens to have a lot of fan materials I follow like a lot of other things I like. It's not a major aspect of my life than any other hobbies I happen to have or any other things I like. I do however, like to talk about it with fellow fans whenever I get the chance, just like anything I like.

I can agree to that, how we read into it I mean, whenever I see something that could be seen as a joke, I see it as a joke, though I think we can all agree that Twilight is a terrible, terrible book

Can somebody just please explain to me what this whole f**king thing is about? I mean, I understand that there is a show, and it is somehow related to ponies, and I have deduced from the bloody constant appearance of meme-ish pics that it has become popular for some reason but...huh?
TvTropes
Know Your Meme

Is the name Lauren Faust familiar to you? If it is, the fact that the show is her creation should be all the explanation you need. Otherwise, well, it's a good show. Funny jokes, relatable characters, quality animation, and a nice helping of nerdy references on top of it.

As proof of popularity, just look how many Escapists are fans:

My Little Pony is a show about, well ponies, it started as one of those hasbro toy selling shows that existed just to sell more of the toys (this is back in the 80s by the way) and it died out eventually, then Lauren Faust (maker of Powerpuff Girls and Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends) made a new series with the mindset that a childs parents would probably also be watching it with their kids, so she tried to make it enjoyable for both parties, and the show caught on like wildfire, lots of people dismiss the show as just a show for little girls without ever seeing it, and there are lots of rabid, insane fans. At the same time there are people who saw the show and dislike it which is completely understandable, and people who watch and like/love the show without making much of a fuss, and that's basically the story

Hi - no, this is not a rant.

I just have one problem with Bronies - and no, it's not that you watch MLPFiM, because I do too. I happen to be a girl, but that's hardly the point either. My problem is this: you guys seem to (at least on these boards) make it all about you and your right to like what you like and being loud and proud and really... I think it should be about the show and if you like it, great and for people who don't, also great (who cares who likes what shows on television for crying out loud?! It is really sad that what people watch on TV has become some defining characteristic).

So that's my one problem with the Bronies thing - well, other than the fact that, as a group, you seem determined to overshadow small children and females as the show's primary fan base as some sort of imperialistic manner.

This will probably make me unpopular, but there it is. No lack of respect for y'all, just saying... you could just be you and let it stand at that.
Totally unrelated but is that The Last Unicorn in your avatar?
Yes, and thanks for asking, since I didn't even realize this actually made it on to the forum until I got your message lol. Escapist has been acting up a bit on my computer with the forums.

I see it's digressed a bit too... kinda why I ended veering off at the last second with the "back" button, who knew that might not stop a post? Ah well.

As I said above, I love the show, and I thought the Sisterhooves episode recently was very well done and uplifting, especially if one happens to have a younger sibling or is a younger sibling, I guess.
