That sucks.
I've had my Xbox since it came out, but I've been able to fix it the 2 times it has red ringed.
It RRoD'd twice? Did they fix if for free the second time too, or just blame that one on you?

Also, love your avatar.
The first time I sent it in, but the second time I fixed it myself.

It just red ringed last night. I'm not to broken up about it because it was a used one that I bought from Gamestop, but now I can't play my Xbox games.

Also I was trying to remember if it was just cheaper or easier to buy a new one or get the old one repaired, so if someone could tell me that would be nice.

One more thing, if anyone wants to buy me a new Xbox 360 just message me. :)
I can fix your 360. I just have to touch it with my finger tips sensually. Thats how i fixed my friend Aaron's Xbox. My whole life i've never had any piece of electronics fail. My 4 year old 360 is as limber as a gymnast. My original brick Playstation is still working great, as well as my N64, Ps2 slim, Gamecube, Gamegear. Thats right, i have a working Gamegear.

I'm an electronics demi-god. call me.

My Elite has been on for over 5,000 hours since I got it. Working fine.

I wonder sometimes what some people do to their systems to screw them up so bad.

Bummer, broski. I'm in the same boat. A used one I got from Gamestop died after a year from red ring. So I went to The Shack, got some thermal paste, ran back, cut my fingers franticallty removing casing and removal componants from a bare motherboard only to discover that the parts had ben jostled and loostened by a recent move. I had the urge to shove a rake up Microsoft's rear end for creating hardware with the durability of a newborn infant.

The same thing happened to me when I first bought a used xbox. If you had an extented warranty then you could get a refund and then by a new xbox arcade for a little extra money. Or as long as you haven't opened up your xbox you can send it to microsoft for a free repair. It really won't take that long and they'll also send you a free month of live.

I got my first console the day it came out, and it lasted me until May 21st last year. It was a sad day, but I ended up just buying the console that came with MW2 (250 gig hard drive ftw)

You're better off just buying a cheap one, that way you aren't blowing so much money.

Nice. My xBox died a little while ago (won't recognize the HDD) and I tried to fix it myself. I ended up taking it apart, poking it a few times with a screwdriver, then putting it back together. It didn't work.

OT: I don't think i'm going to get a new one right now. I called support, and I think they said they can send me an Xbox without a HDD for $100. I'm guessing it's re-furbished, and I can't really spare the $100 right now. Plus, the only games I really want to play are Forza 3 and Fallout GOtY.

Welcome to the club. We have an official badge and everything.

My advice: do what I did, and just get a PS3 instead.

why would he get a PS3 though, if he's only got xbox games?

someone told me to do that if my xbox died, and I promptly told them to fuck off. It'd be cheaper just to get a new one than to go get a PS3 and re-buy all the games I wanted. It's just not logical.

OT: Buy a new/used one. No point trying to get it repaired & DO NOT get a PS3. Nothing wrong with the PS3 but it's just stupid if you've already got plenty of games for xbox. Total waste of money.
He can sell all his xbox games/controllers and hardrive you know
Still will end up being expensive. A lot of older games won't sell for much. He would still be far better to just buy a used xbox, as opposed to going and buying a PS3 and a shitload of games.
