Man you almost got me for a second.
but then I remembered that ginger people (like cockroaches) survive until the end. Both a blessing and a curse.

I got as far as 'Capital Wasteland' and cottoned on. Too much Fallout 3 in my life recently.

figured it was a joke, read Adam's name and though "yep, it's a joke"
got to the part about "atomic weapon" and thought it wasn't even a believable joke

if it was something like dynamite in a mock-up town and Buster flew out and hit Adam, killing him.... that I could give a little plausibility.

You kinda lost everything when you got to "atomic bomb". It needs to be a tad more realistic.
I didn't want the whole thing to be plausible. I wanted the hook to make people say "you had me going for a second there!" then the rest to be an over-the-top parody of the source material. Judging from the comments, I think it worked.

4PM little late for a fool's joke, brah.
It's only 1 PM here. And it's not too late for a fool's joke until the stroke of midnight.
Damn straight. Here it's 22:07 and I know for a fact that in about five minutes two of my friends are going to walk into a party dressed as Bond characters.

Today I, and my three partners, have pulled 17 successful pranks on people, the biggest one being the inflatable gorilla in our Deputy Principle's desk.

He's a gigantic asshole, and he opened his desk only to find a gorilla airbag that we think hit him in the nose a bit hard.

I love April Fool's Day...

Wow. The distinctive types of replies to my original post are a great social experiment! I wonder if there are any overlaps?

I'm picturing the ones who are like "dude, nobody's going to believe an atomic bomb" are the same ones who are like "no way a real [insert FPS gun here] can be run-and-gunned or fired without recoil like that." It's like they know what an April Fool's joke is "supposed" to be, so when someone makes a more "cartoony" version of it, they are like "zomg unrealistic!"

Can anything kill Adam Savage?
hell no, the sheer power of recklesness bordering on the stupid shall always prevail. sadly it doesn't protect me from a heartattack, which I nearly had when reading the fist line.
after some shocks with a defribillator and someone yelling 'not on my watch', and reading the rest, I realized I needed a pacemaker. also I realized that it was a joke.
I learned a lot today!

Would of been a bigger blow for me if it was Kari, the reason I pay attention to MB 97% of the time

ALAMEDA, CALIF. (AFD) Discovery Networks, Inc. today announced "an unfortunate tragedy in our Discovery Channel family." MythBusters star Adam Savage was pronounced dead on arrival at Saint Mary's Mercy Hospital in San Francisco after an unfortunate incident during the shooting of the popular science-based television show.
Said co-star Jamie Hyneman: "We were trying to top our biggest explosion from the Cement Truck show," referring to an episode that first aired in 2005. "The myth was "can you stand in the blast radius of an atomic weapon and be blown clear to safety? Even though the myth was from a film that hadn't premiered yet, we wanted to be ahead of the release and help the studio with some advance promotion in exchange for considerations down the road."
The film, the upcoming Capital Wasteland, based on the popular video game Fallout 3, has a character "doing field work" in the area around a city called Megaton when a nuclear bomb is detonated, destroying the city. The character survives the blast and a special effect shows her being propelled several hundred feet but surviving to become what the film and its source material call a "ghoul", similar to zombies from other films.
Unfortunately, even retired FBI agent Frank Doyle was unprepared for the effects of the experiment. Said Doyle, "I've worked with ANFO, C4, and every other explosive you can imagine during my career in the FBI and on MythBusters. I thought Adam would be safe at his observation point. Unfortunately I was wrong. I take full responsibility."
Eyewitnesses as far away as Sacramento reported seeing the mushroom cloud as an estimated 1-megaton blast (the eponymous "Megaton" from the city) went off on the bomb range. Thankfully, no damage was reported in any northern California cities, though Oakland and Fremont residents reported many broken windows and with a weather system moving through the area there may be threat of fallout east of the blast site.
When asked about the fallout, Department of Homeland Security observers said "C'mon. It's Sacramento. Some of those people would look better as Ghouls. And we gave the Governor [Arnold Schwarzenegger] plenty of Rad-X and Rad-Away first." Local Sacramento radio personality Max "Three Dog" Gibson reportedly said "We've all got Geiger counters. I've told everyone that tick-tick-tickity means 'run your ass out of there', so I don't anticipate too much trouble. I'll keep everyone informed on the radio to stay safe."
Discovery representatives did not comment on the continued status of the MythBusters program's status, but it is widely speculated that co-star Salvatore "Tory" Belleci will be promoted to Savage's role, as the two men shared a similar penchant for accidentally hurting themselves on camera.

EDIT: Hey, here's something for discussion! SCAVENGER HUNT! Spot all the references and in-jokes in the piece and win a prize! (Prize to be determined.)
I actually thought this was genuine (the first paragraph at least) until I realized in the second paragraph that it's April 1. Funny read by the way. Definately going on my firends list ;D
