Friends. One of the greatest sitcoms, allowed to end on its own terms. Perfect.
This comes third after Blackadder and Life on Mars. Not only a great ending, but I can't think of another show that kept up the same level of quality it had at the beginning for 10 seasons! Kudos to them for that. My only criticism would be that (maybe because it went on so long) most of the actors, especially Jeniffer Aniston, are completely stuck in their character types; and why, oh sweet Jesus why did they have to make Joey?

Maybe when Dexter ends (Or has it already? We've only got 3 seasons where I live).
Nope, it hasn't ended yet. There are 5 seasons so far, I think, and there have been no news or rumors of it ending anytime soon.

ds9 had a good ending(and without time travel)
BGS was great, sure it didn't tie up every end but for some reason i really liked the idea of "breaking the cycle"
oh and the wire but only because pretty much everything about that show was great and because i gave you 0 closure.

Blake's 7... that was one hell of an ending.
I don't know how any seasons Star Wars: The Clone Wars has to run, but I confidently predict that if they do it right, it'll be the best ending ever.

The Prisoner, it was a trippy 1970's spy show that was just fuckn wierd, it was only one season and the last episode was one of the strangest ever. Can't complain though, if you watched the entire series then the finale was the only way to end it.
Didn't they remake The Prisoner last year? It had Ian McKellen as the main antagonist I think.

Lost, and apart from that I can't really remember many other shows that I've seen all the way to the end.

Season 8 ending of Scrubs was really good though - the eighth season definitely got back to the greatness of the first 5 or so.

Stargate SG-1, Stargate Universe
If SG-1 had ended after season 8, you would have been right. Can't say much about Universe, as I haven't seen much more than the first few episodes, but it hasn't actually ended yet, has it? It's cancelled as far as I know, so is this some kind of sarcasm I don't get?

I really liked the ending of Cowboy Bebop. The ending of Buffy is a kind of mixed bag for me. It went out with with a big bang and I thought it was rather fitting, but on the other hand I wasn't really satisfied.
I fully agree on SG-1, should have ended before the introduction of the Ori. The problem with Stargate SG-1 was that they got stuck in an infinite escalation loop or a tv series version of Sequel Escalation.

Universe has been slated for nonrenewal so once the current season is done it is over, I think there is only one episode left?

Bebop had an outstanding ending:
Life goes on as it always does

Death Note, it had the decency to end on a high note instead of making a stupid number so episodes, i'm looking at you Bleach.

I would love to say Scrubs, but then they made Season 9 -_-
You beat me to it. I loved the series and didn't want it to end, but when it ended I thought that this had to be the end since anything else would just ruin the perfect ending.
Dragonball did the same. Goku dying in the battle against Cell, then deciding that evil was attracted to him and that his death wouldn't be that bad if that means a more peaceful world, then it ends again when he battles Buu, then it just keeps on for all eternity after that.

Love Hina ended pretty well though.

Spaced was really good but Blackadder Goes Forth was the best I have ever seen. It was so hilarious then so sad and respectful. It was the only comedic show shown on Armistace Day (The day when the soldiers of all the wars are remembered if they don't have it abroad).

Monk ended pretty well. As much as I would have loved for them to continue it, they did a fine job wrapping up the series.

I really like how in the last episode of Futurama before it got uncancelled Leela is watching Fry play the holophoner and she says she just wants to see how it ends.

Buffy.

1) Changing the Rules -- bad guys love to move the goalposts, you don't often see good guys doing it so brilliantly or multiplying their power so effectively
2) ASSAULTING HELL ITSELF and kicking it right in the jimmies.
3) Defeating an evil so old, so dark, and so devious man didn't have a name for it
4) Destroying the Hellmouth once and for all, finally eliminating the disease whose symptoms they'd fought for seven years

I'm gonna say Friends...I mean if they didn't end it right, they wouldn't still be playing it on E4 every morning, afternoon, evening and night, daily...there's probably better TV that ended right but I gave up on TV after it was all big brother and bad children's tv and nothing has yet to make me return...

Yeh, i guess they did get stuck in their character types to an extent, but that was actually one of things i liked most about the programme. Not only was the writing brilliant, but the characterisations were spot on. The mannerisms, the way of saying lines, they were all really good, and that sort of thing only comes to an actor from years of familiarity with a character. Admittedly, it didnt do much for their careers after the show though...hah

and yes, urg....Joey, i sort've see why they did it; to round off Joey's story. But really, i'd rather they had just sorted his story out by the end of Friends, rather than with a spin off (and im sure, with hindsight, so would most of the creators/writers)
