For a boy, Kincaid. I have always liked the name, since I used to play Role Playing games, I would name my character Kincaid. That's my alter ego, if you will. My Tyler Durden.

As for girls, I've always wanted to name a girl Meryl (from Metal Gear Solid), but I have recently hoped to hear the name Alsace (It's a country in France), so maybe the names could be first and middle, possibly.

I've been obsessed with the name Kincaid ever since hearing it in Skyfall. Incredibly bad ass. I tend to like first names that sound like surnames. Kinglsey and Hartigan are up there with my favourites.

Alsace is a region of France*. After German possession it became known as Alsace-Lorraine due to it's neighbouring region and Lorraine is already a girls name so you could throw that in there?

No idea what I'd name my kids if I ever had them, not that I ever plan to. Though I do like the name Riley/Rylee so maybe I'd use those since I rarely ever see them as a first name and I'd want my kids to have something fairly uncommon.

My first name is Fox and I don't intend to change that.

Wouldn't that be a masculine name though?
I guess the only female related names to Amor would be Venus or Aphrodite, but if they wanted Nordic names that much they totally missed out on the Norse goddess of love(amongst other things) Freya.

Oh well, at least they went with something over the top original, so no one would know. Found three people in Sweden with that name. Two has it as a surname and one as first name. Pretty sure they all chose that later in life, especially the first name one since he/she is named Astrild Windweaver.

Lol I don't know for sure, maybe they wanted that name and didn't mind it was more masculine than feminine as most people they encounter wouldn't know the difference or where the name even originated from. Many people here in the US like to take Male names and apply them to females it seems. Their surname is Westergard so I think they wanted something related to their ancestry.

Some of the boys names are from FFVII, but other things as well that I love. Vincent (Mighty Boosh, Vince for short) Rufus (Wainwright, I love his music). I loved the names before I played the games and none of them are too outlandish, old names are coming back in fashion now too. :3

Vincent, sure - Vincent Price. I'm... not familiar with the Mighty Boosh. I did a google search and apparently he's British? Assuming I found the right one.

As for Aeris - I've heard it mispronounced as Aries (the greek god for whom the star sign is named) but never Iris (the flower and also the title of a very awesome song).

Although, since you bring it up, Aries would be a pretty bad-ass name for a boy (greek god of war and all). And Iris actually is a girls name (common in the 20s and 30s I believe, less so now, as it (like Hazel and Ethel) is considered an "old woman name" at this point). Then again, Rose was considered an old woman name a few decades ago, but is not a young woman name again, so perhaps Iris is on a rebound.

Okay, I just looked it up. Apparently 'Murray' means 'sea warrior', 'sea lord' or 'protector of the sea'. Fuck yes. Although I'm more fond of mountains myself.

Well my names paul don't really like it but don't really hate it, if i had a girl she would be called lyra (from his dark materials) or penelo (from FF12) but when i get a dog i'm probably going to name her that, for a boy i'm not too sure

Torbjörn has to be the best name in this thread so far. And if he ever got ridiculed for it, he has the option of going by "Tory" as an easy nickname or leaving a sword in the offending bully's face.

OT: Even though I'm sure I'm going to have a son and daughter at some later point in my life, I have never come up with viable names. Torbjörn should be on the list though, because western cultural norms don't quite beat the level of awesomeness presented here.

obviously i like my name, my father's father was a preacher so my brother and i HAD to have biblical names else we'd be banished or something, my brother's name is David (gee this sounds so creepy when you consider the story with both names ) but while 'Rebekah' IS in the bible, my name 'REBECCA' was actually picked by my mom because she loved a book called... you guessed it REBECCA!! its a great freakin' book too, the hitchcock movie isn't bad either, but i suppose the greatest/coolest part is that the character 'Rebecca' isn't even actually in the book/movie, she's just this kind of overwhelming presence that even though she's dead she still controls all these peoples lives... so yea, i love my name... it has power and presence, and i like to think i live up to it quite well...

as for a translation, since 'REBECCA' (yes i have to keep doing that... in a breathy 1940s alluring tone) is from the bible its 'meaning' is kinda... uh... weird... best i could come up with/find is 'ensnaring' or 'TRAP!' (yes Akbar my name is you're favorite quote) or in some cases 'captivating', its all the same really, but refers to the face that Rebekah 'captured' King David's heart and he pretty much betrayed his wife to be with her (he had like five and technically GOD made him 'love' her... but details... and like i said, creepy) so they could produce the almighty that is King Solomon XD

as for a 'full' translation of my name: 'Captivating' 'Pure' 'Light'

yea... if my mother had any idea what she was naming me... sigh... my middle name is 'Kaye' which apparently has something to do with Aurtherian lore and means 'pure', something to do with one of the knights... and my last name is german/french for 'innkeeper' 'light' or 'jumping' i don't get the last one but the first two seem to work together XD

I prefer more simple names, if I were to give one. My dog for instance that I got last march I named Bram, which is a typical dutch name.

My name is Arjan (which if spelled with a Y would've been really awkward). And my full name is Adrianus Petrus Johannes Maria. Quite a mouthful, but that's what you get with a religious mom.

Sometimes it works, but most often not. I had a friend who wanted to name his son Benkei. Considering he was German and had a last name Engler it just felt a bit odd XD

He probably initially chose the name just because he's into myths.

Boy: Tiberius, Clyde, Pumpernickel, Zachary/Zach, Steve, Carlos.
Why? I just like the sound of most and I had a good friend named Carlos when I was younger who saved my life.

Girl: Penelope, Butch Lez-Bo, Victoria/Vicky, Samantha, Maria, Richard, Inez, Isabella, Consuela, and Elizabeth.
Again mostly because I just like the way they sound and I once had some good friends/relatives/relatives of friends that had the names.

Ugh... I get that I do not want kids but say hypothetically I had one (or adopted and that is more likely) I likely highly names that can evolve like Alexander as I love that you can go from Alex to Alexander as a name and to be honest that is unique and I love that my name is Dane and that is a odd name it is my middle name and the one I use but it is a fantastic one and I love it.

I would want the name of my child to be 1) Unique and 2) Not able to be insulted as if my last name was Cox my kid would not be Holden because Holden Cox is... a bad name... because well... you can see. So I wonder what my kid is named I just do not want it to be one of the top 10, 20,50 names but above all I want it to be awesome and unoffensive to my child. Franky if my kid wanted anew name at age 18 I would say Son/Daughter If you hate the name i gave you or just adore another one I will pay any legal fee for it and just leave them be.
