Legend of Legaia (PS1) - Has some problems with dialogue and can be repetitive, but I loved the combat system and the story was pretty engaging.
O dear lord, yes!
On another note:
Bombastic
It might be a puzzle game, but dammit, it's got one of the most hectically fun multiplayer modes ever (up to five players at a time even).
Shadow Hearts: Covenant
Everyone's always talking Final Fantasy this and Persona that, but to many people seem to forget this little piece of uncut awesome. A JRPG set in an alternate WW I where you cross Europe and Asia with a puppeteer, a female German officer, a stray wolf, an ambiguously gay wrestling vampire, Anastasia Romanov an two guys who can transform themselves into demons. It has an amazing soundtrack by Yoshitaka Hirota, a very decent story that always knows the right time when to be either serious or funny and an original battle mechanic.
Also, it has one of the most intense CG intro movies I've ever seen.
Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc
Many seem to overlook Rayman's exploits in between Rayman 2: The Great Escape and Rayman Raving Rabbids. Not unfairly so, since most of the stuff consisted of an upscaled Rayman 2 re-release called Rayman: Revolution, the multiplayer focused game Rayman M and its PSOne port Rayman Rush. Seriously, who thought it to be a good idea to make a shoddy port from a PS2 game to the PSOne? A game that wasn't even all that good.
And then there's Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. The game still rocked the old school platformer style, while most other titles were going a more hybrid route. For example, Ratchet & Clank with its shooter elements and Jak & Daxter with its free-roam mentality. Despite being somewhat overlooked, I enjoyed myself greatly. The gameplay is simple but fun. There's a good sense of humor, the music is great (I love the Magic Hoodoo Theme) and some of the environments are simply stunning.
