It annoys me... a lot -.-

However it's only ever happened to me one time that I gave more than a fleeting moments thought to.

Yeah, My name is one I made up in junior high (3 years before God of War came out, thank you very much), so it's a little weird that it gets stolen every once in a while. I mean, Krantos? really?

That's why I end all my posts with a sign-off, because so often my unique username is taken. It can be quite aggravating at times, but for the most part, you get used to it.

-Raptor, out.

My screen name is generally not taken whenever I sign up on sites, but if it was I would just think of an alternative name instead.

Never happened to me.

But then again I think people should try to have uniqe screen name. That, to me, is the whole point.

Usually pretty upset because usually that name is taken by someone who hasn't logged in for a year or two.

Eh, it's not as if they stole it, but I do understand the frustration and horror.

It's happened with a few things, most infuriating was when I couldn't use this name for my 360 account. But life goes on... eventually.

At first I'm surprised, because my is not a commonly used name. Then I choose a slight variation to be able to use my real name nevertheless. That's why there's a ' in front of my name...

What pisses me off though is when there is in fact no user with my name, but the system won't let me take it nevertheless. Go on, search for someone called "Aredor". Now I'm stuck with this apostrophe for no good reason at all.

My online name is too long for someone to chose by chance... and seriously KingWeasel I doubt anyone would "steal" your name to use in another forum, however cool it is. Trademarking it wouldn't help either, it's not like websites don't allow copyrighted names (E.g. Pikachu) to be used.

So far I've only seen bands like Mystery Meat,
Mystry Meet is my failed band name and our motto was "We're Mystry Meet and we'd like to Meat you!" So my name isn't commonly used.
My other name "Crotch Rocket" is always used. I got my name from getting punch in the crotch and launching into the sky like a rocket, so I feel like my name is justified...I get very..very angry when Crotch Rocket is used by little twelve year old boys who think its a funny perverted name.

Has this ever happend to any of you out there, you use the same screen name for like 10 diffrent games, a dozen or so websites, then you go to fill it in on another website or game and it comes up:

This user name is already in use.

I wont post my commonly used name here because it will provoke the trolls that inhabit any forum to steal it just to cause grief, but my name was stolen by someone here at The Escapist.....some one here has wronged me.

Its not like I use a name from a comic book or anime or anything, I dont go by Naruto666 or Ichigo or anything from popular entertainment. I deep down believe that people have seen my common screen name and said "thats cool, Ima steal that."

I seriously have considered trademarking my name.......

Thoughts, opinions, personal experiences on the matter? Has your good name been stolen lately?
Well I personally have never had my name stolen because it's just so special and......wait....
... those last two syllables......Weasel...............Wea...........YOU BASTARD, you stole the last two syllables in my name.

RIGHT, just for that, I'm going to hunt you down and when I find you, I'm going to do things to you that would make even the devil squirm.

you have a two minute head start while I go and find my cheese knife.

Suprised.
Seriously, I have never seen anyone with this name right here. Once on some forum(don't remember what) some guy did use the nickname "MrShowerHead" saying that he "saw a player with this name on Halo 3" Since I used to play Halo 3 like there was no tomorrow, that was mst likely me.

This reminded me of a time when me and a friend of mine joined a sever on Halo CE, using same usernames. I had "loaned" his username(Eikkatin) played there for a while. I won pretty much every match and people started calling me a hacker. After about 15 minutes that friend that I mentioned joined the game with his own usename. So then there was 2 Eikkatins. One player said "Oh NO! Now there's two of them!" Ahh, fun times

I'm uncreative and use my forename. Even if there is only about 1200 people in this world with it, it still comes up time to time. So I've taken up alter ego Toga et Culter and it's variations. Influence of Latin courses and TF2 is clear (Toga et Culter = Cloack and DAgger).
