okie dokes, let's see here. In no particular order:

Changeling - An emotional rollercoaster from one of the greatest acting performances I've seen.
One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest - Absolute masterclass and very thought-provoking.
The Blues Brothers - Cult classic, enough said :)
Crash - Again, very thought-provoking, one of the greatest films ever produced imo.
Gladiator - A classic :)
Gran Torino - This film made me a fan of Clint Eastwood as a director (I saw this one before 'Changeling'). Beautiful.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - The techniques used within this film are fascinating. Michel Gondry, you genius :)
The Shawshank Redemption - Not much explaining needed, I'm sure there aren't a whole lot of people that haven't seen this.
Pulp Fiction - The dialogue draws you in, and doesn't ever let up.
The Time Traveller's Wife - Very clever and heartfelt.

There's a lot more, but these are definitely the top of my list :)

My top 10, for your viewing pleasure:

Back to the Future-the perfect blend of action, adventure, sci-fi, romance and comedy makes this the perfect summer blockbuster.Ghostbusters is good, but this...is magic.
The Godfather- Marlon Brando in one of his best performances in a flawless crime drama
The Good, the bad and the Ugly- I was 10 years old when i saw it and Clint became my new hero on the spot. It also made me take a look at other good westerns like A Fistfull of Dollars, True Grit (the original with John Wayne), Rio Bravo, The Magnificent Seven and many more.
Fight Club-It confirmed that the director of Seven was a force to be reckoned with and it adapted a difficult novel.Thought-provocative and entertaining, outstanding.
Jurassic Park- A great story, great dialogues, amazing special effects that still look good nowadays and mostly because it made me realize than in the movie realm anything was possible made this one of my favourite 90´s blockbusters.
Oldboy-The plot, the way the action is shot and the sheer intensity of what´s going on on screen made this one of the best "foreign" movies i´ve seen.
Robin Hood (the Disney version)- yes, i know there are better animated movies out there, but this was the first disney cartoon i watched as a kid and it will always hold a special spot for me!
The Matrix-it was able to mix Lewis Carrol, philosophy, kung-fu,anime and cyberpunk references into a film that changed the way directors shot action scenes. Influential, thought-provocative (it defies reality!) and entertaining as hell
Zoolander-My guilty-pleasure movie of the list. It´s so silly but i cant stop laughing at it. And that is what matters when you´re watching a comedy. And it´s so quotable, heh.
Superman- The first movie with Cheistopher Reeve is still the perfect super-hero movie for me (sorry Dark Knight, you take second place). As a comics nerd i could do a list only with super-hero movies, but i´ll just put this one :)

Nice topic

DISCLAIMER: I will probably add more later on, 'cause I'm silly that way

Children of Men- awesome cinematography, awesome setting, riveting plot
The Blues Brothers- a shockingly christian pity comedy.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind- cuz I'm a soft-hearted *****
Adaptation- Because I am a pretentious asshole
Father of the Bride (1950)- Spencer Tracy is an underrated giant
Guess Who's Coming To Dinner- touching and corny, sticks with me for one memorable line ("...and our son will be president, with a multicolored cabinet...")
The Dirty Dozen- a brazen insult to those lives lost in WWII, and pretty funny in its own right
Bowling For Columbine/Capitalism: a love Story- so sue me, redenck.
A Clockwork Orange- genious, I honestly find something new every time I see it
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back- classic, the darkest and therefore the best of the Star Wars saga
SUPERMEGASHOOTERPERSON BONUS!GhostBusters- come on! I cannot be the only one...

In no real order:

Shaun of the Dead - It's a drama, comedy, romance, and zombie flick with a great story, great characters and great dialogue.
Black Hawk Down - One of the only examples I've seen where the movie is better than the novel, Black Hawk Down is a truly great movie with an amazing score that's based on the novel of the same name that's about the Battle of Mogadishu.
Saving Private Ryan - Truly great due to its depiction of the Invasion of Normandy beach.
A Hard Day's Night - A silly musical that follows a day with The Beatles that has remarkable music, filming methods/tricks that originated from the film, as well as memorable shots that you you've seen in countless other shows/films that got it from this film.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail - It's silly British fun that doesn't make much sense but it's just to funny to ignore.
The Incredibles - The best film that Pixar made, what more do you want me to say? (I must have watched this ten times the week I got it.
Ghostbusters - A great film that nicely blends sci-fi with reality.

Ok, I know that's not ten, but I don't watch movies all that often and I can's think of ten that have enough staying power for me to list three others as my absolute favorites. And yes, I know my say on them is bad. I'm sleepy, so I'm not anywhere near my most brilliant.

No serious order and would probably change if given more thought...

The Crow
Se7en
Grandma's Boy
The Wedding Singer
Lord of the Rings (trilogy)
Die Hard
Kill Bill (both volumes)
Hero (Jet Li)
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Dazed and Confused

Okay, definitely not a completely serious list, but these are definitely movies I've watched more than a few times and am perfectly willing to watch more than a few more. Shoot, forgot Lost Boys. And The Last Boyscout. And Clerks. And...

1. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
2. Spirited Away
3. Fight Club
4. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World
5. Howl's Moving Castle
6. Monty Python and the Holy Grail
7. Princess Mononoke
8. Castle in the Sky
9. Akira
10. My Neigbor Totoro

Man, making this list took much longer than it should have. There was a time when it was almost completely dominated by Miyazaki movies, now they only cover half the list. Why does that make me feel sad?

1) A Clockwork Orange: a surreal and humorous story that asks some interesting questions about mortally, Good vs Evil and the role of Government in criminal rehabilitation.

2) Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A bold counter-cultural work that declares that the American dream is dead and we are all to busy humping the corpse to notice. Hunter S. Thompson's best work made visual by Terry Gilliam ( A Clockwork Orange and Fear and Loathing are also my favorite books be there places are switched)

3) Fight Club: Dark, Funny, and also strangely insightful with an awesome twist ending " I am Jack's Wasted Life".

4) Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: used to higher on my list till the hipsters ruined it for me, still a top notch musical with some awesome visuals.

5) OldBoy: One of the best Revenge thrillers I have ever seen with unsettlingly ambiguous and shocking ending.

6) The Collective Works of Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki: Do I even need to explain this one.

7) Grinhouse (theatrical version): Two kick ass movies with goofy trailers in between.... Awesome.

8) Kill Bill (both part): when put together the Kill Bill Saga has almost every thing I love about movies in it.

9) Bram Stroker's Dracula: I Love this over the top erotic retelling of Bram Stroker's fable that in my opinion is better then Universal's 1931 Dracula (deploy Flame shield).

10) The Princess Bride: A simply awesome film that I fought tooth and nail to not watch when I was a Kid.

I honestly can't name ten of my favorite movies, but, I can name the first three that come to mind as top contenders for favorite movie. And they are, in no particular order...

The Fountain

Moon

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

All three are excellent films, and I'd reccomend them to anybody looking for a really great movie. Also, they all have amazing scores. Come to think of it, that might have something to do with why I love them so much... A great score makes a good film a superb one, if you ask me.

1. District 9 aliens, robots, weapons that make people explode, deep meaning about politics. This is pretty much the movie for me.
2. Inception A movie that explains it's premise really well then acts with it for great results.
3. Scott pilgrim vs the world A really funny movie with some really clever bits, funny characters and some cool video game references.

...And that's about it. I have a lot of movies I like but I don't really think to put them in a list like this. These are the only ones I would be willing to do that for.

No order

Unforgiven - Great script and great performances.

Pulp Fiction - Great lines and with a non-linear plot than works.

A Clockwork Orange - Fantastic Art Direction and a great performance by McDowell.

The Duellists - Beautiful film. I love the ending.

Army of Darkness - Not much on comedies but I love this movie. This is my Boomstick!

Se7en - This movie made me go WOW after I saw it.

No Country for Old Men - One of the best villains in movie history. A modern day western.

There Will Be Blood - Felt almost like a horror film to me. Great performance by Daniel Lewis.

Black Hawk Down - This what I imagine combat to be like. Brutal and real.

Goodfellas - Favorite movie by my favorite director.

A Hermit's Cave
No Avatar *result!* (that I could see, did skim)

In no particular order:

Ben-Hur - the Count of Monte Cristo, Latin edition, I could watch the chariot race over and over
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - if only for the fighting, and best wire-fu movie for a while (still)
Grave of the Fireflies - (won't bother commenting)
Stalingrad - (original in German) one of the best anti-war films I've seen
Lord of War - one of a kind, and all the more depressing because of it
Lawrence of Arabia - what a debut by Peter O'Toole, great drama and set pieces
Spartacus - if only for the line 'I'm not an animal!' 'You may not be an animal, but that hardly makes you a man'
Waterloo - the film about the Hundred Days, none better (none others, really, granted)
Tora!Tora!Tora! - 7th Dec 1941 as it really was (for the most part)

and for funzies - Kelly's Heroes - Donald Sutherland (lol)

I'd have included the Longest Day, but it was a bit too impersonal for my liking (but points for epicness).

The 300 Spartans (not 300, that CGI rubbishy muscle-fest) would have been there, but for some reason, I couldn't get Richard Egan's accent out of my head (good actor, don't get me wrong). Also, A Bridge Too Far, but that Leopard... oh, that Leopard really stung, awesome book though (once again, points for epicness).

Fun fact about Spartacus, the guy who played Julius Caesar went on to be ambassador to Mexico.
