Pantsoffdanceoff or Cheaty McSpeedy, unfortunately those are usually too long so I go with Wolfwood if I have to.

Although I did see someone with the name "Bill Nye the Nazi Spy", and I thought that was above the rank of godliness.

I try to come up with things that'll make people chuckle. When I played world of warcraft, I was the almighty druid Elbow.

I generally name my non-RP characters "Crazzee"(And occasionally my RP characters, too.)
RP characters are pretty hard for me. It's all about creativity in the name. Most of mine escape my mind right now, but they almost always turn out good, because I put tons of thought into it.

I prefer the term "Zomguard"

either adam (for gamees that require a profile or for a 1st character in things like fable 2) lucifer (when i decide to be evil) or i just name it after another video game character (and maybe change up the spelling)

What you should be asking yourself when creating a character is not "what sounds cool?" but "what's the most inappropriate thing I could name it without getting banned?"

Personal highlights: Donkeyhose, Tossgobble, Creamcannon, Dussypischarge, Queef.

Additional points awarded for names that seem fairly innocuous at first glance e.g. Sharialaw or Dyovaydes.

As for people who name their characters stuff like: Funnydk, Firepaladin (a hunter?!), or Politedk... Just say no kids!

I opt to use the name of a character from the stories I have written or give it some due thought, creating one specifically for that character; Lucretion is the one I fancy most recently.

I just stick two words-one rude and one banal-together to create silly names. Like cockbox (FFIX). Or Larry Lepercock (Oblivion).

I think of my own name, and try to combine words together then edit it like crazy to make it sound cool. Like my username here was made because of one moment of thinkinga bout killing ass and Russia. Lol. RASSAN!

Take two fingers, close your eyes, hit the alpha zone of the keyboard, take those two letters and stick a consonant or a vowel between them, bingo.

Another idea is to ask your parents what their second choice for your name might have been, and use that. :D

I usually go with either something original that just pops into my head and doesn't sound completely ridiculous, an anagram of something that makes sense for the character, perhaps sans or plus a letter or two (such as Thels for a stealthy thief, etc.), or the name of my original RPG chracter, Rala.

Rant or Rant Casey. After I read Rant by Chuck Palahnuik I just love the character and the story so much I had to pick it. Used to use TheYellowDart for online FPS. Big fan of Strong Bad E-Mails.

Wouldn't work for me, mine was Ordway. Not even kidding. For me name creation is one of the most fun parts of the game, so I just kind of sit there staring at the screen until my vision pixelates to figure out what kind of name would define my character. I've come up with a more than a few good ones over the years, my favorites being Anaxos, Ganymede, Kaldur, and Vrengaer. I try to come up with new, exciting ones as often as I can, but occasionally end up falling back on those.

Wouldn't work for me...
Fair enough! I tend to feel that a name defining a character restricts that character, unless you want to have a psychopathic barbarian named Fluffy (for example). Since it's hard to predict what a new game will throw at you, I find it neat to have a name that you didn't expect to work, even didn't like (the character doesn't have to like his/her name, do they?) and see it 'worn in' by in-game actions.

See, now I have to make a psychopathic raving barbarian named Fluffy.
