Naming your gaming rigs

All the machine's on my household network are named after Discworld characters... our hub is Discworld, and there are Susan, Albert, Angua, Death of Rats amongst others.

It all started in 2004 for me.

2004: La Bestia Parda (Spanish for Grizzly Beast, Eleanor prototype): Athlon x2 4600+ and Radeon X800 XT. 2GB RAM DDR2.

2007: Eleanor: Athlon x2 4600+, 8800GTS. 4GB RAM DDR2.

2008: Eleanor Mk.II: Intel e8400 Wolfdale (3.6GHz OC). ASUS EAH4870 512MB. 4GB RAM DDR2 (Kingston Hyperx 1066MHz). Seagate Barracuda 500GB 32mb 7200rpm.

2009: Eleanor Mk.II Rev. B: Intel e8400 Wolfdale (3.6GHz OC). eVGA GTX295 (650MHz core OC). 4GB RAM DDR2 (Kingston Hyperx 1066MHz). Seagate Barracuda 500GB 32mb 7200rpm.

2011: Eleanor Mk.III (Current): AMD Phenom II x6 1090t (4GHz OC). ASUS EAH6970 DirectCUII (920 MHz core OC). 8GB RAM DDR3 (Kingston HyperX GENESIS 1333MHz CL6). Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 64mb 7200rpm.

My current PC is named Frankie, after Frankenstein, cause I'm gonna keep adding onto her every time a part gets old.

My Xbox 360 is called "R2-D60" in the system settings.

I have that limited edition R2-D2 360 with the C-3PO controller, you see.

Shredder. My family has had this really weird thing where we name our computers after TMNT characters. Mom's computer was Donatello, father's was Raphael, the one my brother and I had was Michelangelo.

Now I have my laptop today, lovingly dubbed "Shredder." One day I will build a dream machine, and it will be called the Technodrome.

My gaming computer is called "Lunatic Fringe". I don't refer to it as that or anything - it's just the network name. In conversation, I refer to it as "The computer" or, when discussing playing video games on it I generally tell my Fiancee that "I'm going to go click on stuff until I feel better".

HAL, for it dreams to one day be able to play anything from the future on max settings, oh and dream.

If I ever build a new model I'll probably call it SKYNET or CRS.
