So...I only looked through the first page here but...

Is anyone else totally gonna go to one of these places, buy a cupcake and try to be happy that you at least tried to make a difference?

One of these locations is really close to me, so I know where I'll be on June 9th.

...Wow, I knew NASA was having money issues but to resort to high school fundraising measures mean they must really be in trouble!

How unoriginal, creative fund-raising isn't rocket science.
Even if it was...

In other words, for considerably less than half of one percent of the military budget, these scientific endeavours could continue unimpeded. Are there hungry people living on the streets? Are millions of Americans without medical coverage? Are there countless other things the US could be doing do address shortfalls in its domestic situation? Absolutely. But what does that have to do with the prioritization of bombs over knowledge?
Well since knowledge usually leads to more (or better) bombs, it even works out for the military... I just honestly have to wonder what the bloody hell the US military's doing with all that budget, especially considering there's a number of things your country could really do with instead (speaking of knowledge, your school system comes to mind)

I think that in the face of our government doing its best to kill everything but the military, private space exploration is the next logical step.

Come on guys, stop telling America to cut its military budget. It isn't that high...

(the 2011 one is basically the same, I just can't find it because I'm terrible at googling).
You see that little bar between Canada and North Korea that's Australia now compare that to the ridiculous number for america.
In their world higher defence mean more safety for everyone else.
Does anyone know the scoreboard between attack on american soil and Australian soil when was the last time an Australian city was attack or the last time a kid went on a killing spree.

More defence does not make you safer invading countries does not stop terrorism it creates it.
If america raised corporate taxes a tiny bit and replaced 80% of its defence with social programs, space flight and left the middle East we would probably be on Mars by now and since social programs help you know poor people get jobs america wouldn't be in a recession.
Plus less US interference means less attacks from those who think we are going to kill them.

America is controlled by the wealthy and they can't run the country in the end its just tax breaks for those who have too much money and more money for those who do nothing with it.
Space flight is really the only reason why the US is the powerhouse today I cannot believe how easily the people gave that up they are as much to blame as the politicians that use Nasa as a scapegoat for all the worlds problems.

Wait, Canada spends more on it's military than Israel? Aren't they in constant war?
The reason for that is because Canada focuses more on the economy they get more money to spend on the military which is the reason why North Korea is a laughing stock
