I have no sympathy for these two. What parents in their right minds would do this? Do you think what they did was logical in any way?

The thread title made me expect to see Kharaa vs. Space Marines. :S

I feel bad for the kid.

Thick. As. Shit.

You can get new pets, not new parents.
Why people over-value their pets is beyond me, especially since dogs can swim.

That's good to know :p If only we had weekly incidents like this, set up an adoption agency for intelligent people only and this world would be so much better. Sigh.

I can understand how people would go into a river to save their pets from drowning. But, if you aren't sure that you can survive a river, especially while carrying a dog, don't go in. :(

That would make this world such a better place...and I would never stop smiling!

So they ... what ?
Seriously I'd rather let my dogs drown than dive into a Scottish river that was nearly bursting, and why were they there in the first place ?

Oh bummer. That's so sad... :( Imagine what the child must feel when they tell her in a few years that the reason she has no biological parents is that they valued their dogs more than the years to come parenting her.

Really, where do people like these parents come from? What idiots....

As much as I like people trying to help animals, even if that's risky, no amount of pets is worth two (three, if you count the orphan) human lives.

But those were stupid lives, if they:

a) left their baby alone near a river
b) took 3 dogs for a walk with the baby
c) tried to help their dogs, even though if the pets didn't make it, they wouldn't either.

well that's one way to orphan a poor kid.
My thoughts exactly.
We just have to hope the baby will follow nurture as opposed to nature. But darwinism is always welcome in this overpopulated world we live in.

Wouldn't it be so much easier to give mental & physical test to kids before sexual maturity. Those who pass can breed those who don't get a little snip snip.
