This is pretty much my opinion of it too. The show had two fantastic seasons, so I'm just going to pretend that they graduated after the second season (you know, since most community colleges are two year ordeals)In Search of Username said:I can't say I'm too surprised; Season 3 was a little uneven, Season 4 was just plain terrible, and Season 5 was a lot better but still not really up to scratch. I don't feel like the show had much left in it.
I like to think of it as BBT is the kind of show that a bunch of studio executives think nerds and geeks would like, while Community is the kind of show that nerds and geeks actually like. This got even worse when, somewhat early on, BBT switched from "laughing with" to "laughing at" nerds and geeks.Full Metal Bolshevik said:Why is BBT always mentioned, and in a negative way? I love them both ^^
Uh... Big Bang Theory does not have a laugh track, it has a live studio audience. Those are people that are actually laughing at the jokes. That's why the actors sometimes pause when the laughter is particularly loud (so that their lines aren't drowned out).Nghtgnt said:And that f**king laugh track. If I need a cue as to when I should laugh that means even the writers know their jokes suck.
Wait, are you saying Scrubs Med School is good or did they cancel it a season before that? Med School sucked, it was tolerable at best, but mostly was just annoying.Kyogissun said:Welp, I'm not surprised, NBC seems to be unable to recognize how to let a good thing 'finish' properly. Like how they didn't keep Scrubs for its final season, an awesome and well written show, while the last season (What's Scrubs Med School?) ended up on ABC and did a very solid job wrapping everything up neat and tight.
The implication is that I don't consider Med School to be part of the show and its existence is NON-existent similar to say, the Umineko anime adaptation or Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean or anything on Supernatural past season 5. Some of those are because the production was GENUINELY bad (Astral Ocean's botched latter half, Scrubs Med School) or I just don't care because there's no hope of it going the way I want it to (Umineko and Supernatural, the second should have just ENDED when Eric Kripke left the show).Vrach said:Wait, are you saying Scrubs Med School is good or did they cancel it a season before that? OT: I thought the series ended when Jeff got his diploma? With the whole timeline thing? That looked like an ending to me and an alright one at that, especially considering how the show was slowly becoming less and less fun to watch. Some great episodes came out of the series, but it wasn't always consistently funny, particularly later on.
Actually, Parks and Rec is gearing up for another season.Davroth said:Hate be the bearer of bad news, but Parks and Rec looks pretty.... finished. On the plus side, the last episode is pretty epic.Shodan1980 said:So what does NBC have left? Parks and Rec? I frigging love that show but it's declined a bit recently and even at it's best it's not a lot of good comedy output. NBC have totally Britta-ed it (never had to type that, looks bloody weird). This definitely is the Darkest Timeline
Well, decorum dictates that I'm supposed to wag my finger at your comment, using words like "hipster, snob, condescending" to uphold the unwritten "moral high ground"...but fuck that.Sseth said:But the Big Bang Theory is not cancelled, thus proving that mainstream audiences suck and the opinion of the masses doesn't mean diddly squat.
Ugh, not that fucking argument again. An audience who is told when to laugh is no better than a laugh track.UltimatheChosen said:Uh... I don't particularly like the show myself, but let's not make up reasons to criticize it.
