So basically I'm writing this Narrative (for School. Since it's Writing it's fun but with a time limit? No thank you...) and the main goal is to create a character that is motivated psychologically because of his/her past. So any ideas? The more twisted the better! As much as I love rape/incest in background stories please keep those out. I don't want you to do a big effort on this (if you can, be my guest!) just a small thought. I know how creepy you guys are (and I love it)

I know some people here hate these kind of help thread but at least it's not a relationship one it doesn't hurt to ask for some help. If you're going to say "Don't ask this kind of stuff" or something similar you can leave.

I appreciate your co-operation. Last time I asked I got really good replies which boosted my work ten-fold.

I dunno maybe... he/she killed his/her parents but his /her mind forced him/herself to forget so he/her can move on with his/her life...
Edit: also did you change your name? I remember it being something else before...

Offtopic:Yes I did. It used to *gulp [sub]Sci-Fi Luver437[/sub]
Terrible eh? Also, your Custom Title reminded me to get the song!

On Topic, good idea. I'll try to implement all of the ones I get in the future (if I get more that is!) without complicating it.

The character is the spawn of Satan, but he still has a human side-He is convicted of slaughtering an entire maternity ward and he doesn't know what side of him did it-Which is the lesser of the two evils?

Okay. Main characters father (Who is a very eccentric genius) kept the main characters half-brother locked up in a dungeon hidden underneath their abode. The love of his fathers life died giving birth to his half-brother and out of an undying hatred for him he tortures him nightly. He re-married and had the hero of our tale simply because he needs an heir to his strange discoveries and is grooming him to be a genius. The main character is intensely lonely due to being home-schooled and having to spend every day reading books and having information drilled into his head by his father.

Now, quite by accident he discovers the dungeon and begins to go down there to talk with his half-brother. Though mutilated and utterly insane, his half-brother seems quite capable of rational speech and is actually rather charming. He manipulates our hero into keeping their meetings secret and eventually gets him to set him free. His half-brother uses his freedom to slay their father and escape into the world.

20 years later, our protagonist is a scientist/detective with an extremely high opinion of himself who only solves cases that pique his interest. His half-brother suddenly resurfaces as a criminal mastermind who has organized a gigantic crime-ring and plans to take over the world with zombie-robots and diabolic schemes. Thus begins a battle of wits and strangeness that will rip asunder the very fabric of reality!

Some of that may not have been logical, for that I apologize, it was very spur of the moment.

Character was part of a hostage situation early in his childhood in which his uncle was killed; he witnessed everything and his father (uncle was on that side) was never the same. His older brother who was very close to this uncle attempted suicide twice but was never successful. Essentially it seriously screwed up his family and he was forced to deal with this at a very young age (5-10). Its 18 years later and he is trying to lead a normal life but this event always forces its way in somehow, often in the form of night terrors. The man who killed his uncle is released due to "good behavior" and goes on to kill two more people before he is taken back to jail. The character decides to quit his dead end job and become an attorney - ensuring that nothing like this will ever happen again. But that single event from his childhood still haunts him and his new career choice forces him to deal with similar situations on almost a daily basis. He must overcome that event to truly continue on with his life.

A man who from a young age made friends just for the sole purpose of taking away everything they got, love, money and their family.
Then one by one, he started killing them.
Motivated by the pure grief and the insanity that was born within his mind, because of neglect, abuse and watching his mother being killed by his own father.
For he is never satisfied with what he does, he always wants more and more.
Snapping their necks and sending their heads to their parents house with a note....
I'm comming to get you.

You don't have to go all the way to twisted to create a believeable character crippled by past trauma.
Simply do one about a driver school teacher backing over and killing his infant child with his car, making him unable to drive again wihtout having flashbacks.

It's prolly not what you're looking for, but it's almost guaranteed straight A+ bait (depends on how good your teacher likes made for TV dramas).

reavers made him watch as they did what reavers do to his family. He came out of this broken, he has two personalities. Himself the 8 year old child and the reaver.

So innocence at it purest form and the hunter, kills withour mercy.

or there can be three personalities, ego, super ego and id? "I am your angry little id, come and get me *****!" "You should be nice to the man", said the super ego.

EDIT: Nice plan to find the most twisted members of the site. No worries I won't tell them your plans.

Depending on how sci-fi/fantasy you want to go with it, it's possible that some sort of spell or something that now and again takes over the character. Maybe it made them do something terrible to someone they loved at one point, and they now roam the land searching for some kind of cure. But as a result of their past experience, they do not get close to anybody, and in fact shuns human interaction altogether for fear of getting close to someone and hurting them again; but something in the story requires them to work with someone. This could create all sorts of interesting drama between the character's need to stay away from people and their need to work with this partner. I suppose it's kind of like The World Ends with You, but with a more twisted past for the main character.

If you haven't played The World Ends with You, by the way, do so. It's really, really good.

Without knowing the kind of world your character lives in my hands are somewhat tied.

But I've always liked the idea of a character who was never properly socialized. Becauser their parents believed that society was evil or corrupt they were kept out of public schools, only allowed to play with other members of the family and had a adherence to their moral code beaten into them.

As an adult this person has made their way into the world with the rest of society, has managed to create a facade of normalcy but refuses or is unable to form any lasting friendships or relationships.

His spare time is dedicated entirely to devotion to the moral code that was drilled into them on a daily basis.

How that moral code is adhered to would have to be up to you.

I actually wrote this awhile back but you could use it for the "night terror" aspect of the story.

"I am alone, everything is white and there is no noise. Suddenly there is screaming, people crying, people praying, people begging. Except there isn't; only the noise. I tell myself to "run like hell" except I don't; it's not me and it is. The voice is external but it is still me. I obey. I run forever until it begins to fade. The white that is. White, light grey, grey, dark grey, black. Everything is black and there is no noise. Except for myself talking to me of course. An older version speaking. He is completely white upon the uniform blackness, standing beside a grave with my name on it. "Today is tomorrows past; run like hell."

Modern Day would be preferable. 'Twisted' past up for change.

I knew someone would eventually tell me this. I was trying to find a good word to describe and decided that 'twisted' would be the best 'nuke' in this situation. My teacher loves T.V. Dramas (according to what she says anyway) so that could be good too.

Anyone can come up with twisted stuff if they don't have to tie it in with the rest of the story. What did you want this character to do that requires a traumatic past?

He just got out of a death struggle where his mind shattered into 4 main personalities. He sees what they see and can hear their words, but is powerless to stop them. Slowly his psyce fractures to the point of almost being unusable.

Your character... Let's say it's a "he" and name hasn't been given yet.

The man, a famous alchemist, was an extreme realist. His ideals was that there was no God, no soul, no salvation. He feared death more than anything else.
His reputation exceeds him, as he is the man who found out how to turn sand into gold, and to re-create youth on the outside. He has a great knowledge of the biological and genetics.

So, after 10 years of trial and error, failure and progress, experiments... He has found it. The one potion to turn him immortal. But he is not keen on sharing it; he does not try it on any other human but himself.
As he drank the potion of everlastment, he found the effects crippling full of pain, but his thoughts of escaping death forever sated it in his mind.

When he woke up from the floor where he stumbled down at, he has become the worlds first Vampire... Or so he thinks. However, he's lost all of his senses to enjoy life.
Taste, touch, smell and will has all dissipated.

Learned his folly after many, many years of "living" an artificial life, he is ever so inclined to turn this immortality away. His actions will all lead towards himself and his salvation that he has never gotten to touch. Because he cannot feel pity or love for anyone else, all he can do is for himself.
But, the other characters around the story might try to convince him otherwise.

Is this good enough? Cause I came it up on these five minutes. If it is "copied" from some source, I have no idea in all seriousness.

There was a man who had a dog for 14 years. He had this dog when he was a teen, and into his adult hood. Eventually he decided that he wanted to pass on his family name. He didn't want to get married however, as he was Asexual. He looked for possible donors that would birth his child, and donated sperm to the person. 9 months, 4 days later his child was born.

It was a baby boy.

This baby boy was an ordinary boy, a bit stronger then most, and a bit more intelligent. The doctors believe that the boy was gifted, and the father was over joyed.

The father raised his child, with his dog. He was a very happy father, and he pulled in more then enough money to live comfortably.

Then, 2 years later. The boy was playing in the kitchen with the dog. And when they were playing he bumped into a standing table and knocked over the contents onto the floor. One of which was a steak knife from the fathers dinner the previous night. The knife fell off that table, twirling in the air... and then found its target. Right on the back of the dogs neck.

When the father came home and saw the dead dog, and the boy smeared in its blood... He snapped.

The fathers first reaction was to beat the kid. In his mind he was thinking that he was being good for his child. He was teaching it right and wrong. And even though the child was screaming, the father knew deep down that this was the proper way to raise a child. But the father knew that the world was not accepting of this way. He knew he had to hide it.

That night. the father moved the sons bed into the basement, and covered the windows with foam and wooden boards. He hung shackles from the ceiling, and moved down text books so the boy could learn.

The father knew that the best way to raise his son would be through violence, and books. He will make his son smart, and pass on his legacy. That is the only reason he was born. To pass on his fathers genes.

Years go by, and the boy became incredibly smart, he was very good at mathematics, and even in the circumstances his English was decent. Although speaking was still a bit of an issue.

Finally after 13 years of this (meaning he's 15) his birth mother decides that she would just like to see how the child is doing. Mostly out of curiosity, but partially due to the fact that she misses the child, despite only being together for such a short time.

She asks the father if she can see the child. The father was acting a bit strange, but allowed her to visit. The father cleaned the house that day, cleaning off the old dog blood stains on the kitchen floor, and did something to mask his sons smell. Oh how his son smelled poorly. He would beat him later to teach him the proper way to clean up your blood.

The mother visited the next day. She was confused why the child couldn't come up stairs and began to worry. She agreed to go downstairs to visit, thinking that maybe an accident happened, or if he was still asleep. It Was 7 am. Perhaps he was sleeping in on the weekend.

The mother went down stairs. And saw her son. She began to cry. Surrounding the son was blood, he had scars all over his naked body. There was a slide show playing in front of him with lessons. The mother rushed towards the boy to try to save him.

The boy turned his head towards the strange women, and felt a connection. Like he knew her, but he did not.

The father shocked the women with a tazer he had in his pocket and murdered her with a knife on a near by table.

The father then started cutting the boy chanting "Todays lesson... DON'T FUCKING CRY".

The boy resolved to escape some how. He decided next weekend when his father lets him off the chains for his intensive exercise that he would make contact with the outside world some how. That Wednesday however, he didn't have to. A police officer knocked on the door asking about a missing women, and was wondering if the father knew anything. The father panicked and shot the police officer in the neck through the door.

A swat team broke into the house 4 hours later, and shot and killed the father. They discovered the son and sent him to a hospital immediately.

The character then goes to a psychiatrist for 1 year, and is released. The boy is apparently insanely intelligent for his age, but does have some communication problems, and has no people skills what so ever. He doesn't trust anyone, and expects every person to only want to taunt and maim him.

The character begins from here. He can go in any direction, of either being a psychopath, to developing people skills thanks to friends, or anything.

Hope this helps.

*edit
