Not enough Pen Pen.I have no doubt that good criticism of NGE exists, it just doesn't come from bennet the sage.
That... yeah, I cant argue with that. Not enough Pen Pen.
Why do you think he left before the fallout got really bad? He wanted to make name for himself and go out on his own. I cannot blame him for that. As for NC, I find him much worse. Dude goes way out of his way to belittle others for liking or not liking the same thing similar to MovieBob.Now, I may be a morbidly obese dwarf that picks cheeto's out of his chest hair, but even I have enough self respect not to work with Nostalgia Critic.
Two videos I pointed out don't mean squat they you've been insulting him. A little ribbing is fine, but you went way beyond that. Plus, he learned something from his mistakes. Yes, a lot of his early vids are not that good, but even he admitted that long ago, so you really don't have much to stand on or prove what's already there. The only reason posted those vids was to prove a point, that you will complte miss or ignore just feel like you know everything and be a know-nothing-know-it-all smug about it. You've been doing that throughout the entirety of this topic.. If you acknowledge that the video's posted were of poor quality, and he apparently regrets them, then why did you post them at all? I assume you posted them because you thought they had something of value to say.
They ain't the best, but they ain't the worst. There are many parts I agree with and I admit there are some parts I cannot remember everything. Guess, what? I do not care. I am never sitting down and watching that overrated, over-hyped piece of shit ever again. The best you can get from me is 2.0 and some fan-fics made by competent writers, but that is about it.Or maybe you do think his NGE video's were good? In which case you're going to have to explain to me how reviewing half of a film based entirely on a faulty translation is good criticism.
In relation to Rei, the anime version doesn’t quite complete her character arc until End of Evangelion so if all you saw was the series itself, Rei feels underdone and forgotten.Having both read the manga and seen the anime multiple times, I can say with absolute confidence that of the 2 versions of the character manga Rei is the one with an actual character. What in the anime remains merely hinted at and poorly explained at best is elaborated much more in the manga (though it still remains bizarre and confusing), and there's actual character depth to her. There's a moment towards the end where Rei and Shinji realize that the connection they might have had at some point has faded away, and it's genuinely touching.
In the anime Rei remains an emotionless husk, a total cypher all the way through. I talked to a guy who'd watched the series the whole way through for the very first time, and he thought Rei had been a robot. There's a few moments where further subplots or character exploration involving Rei might be coming, but it never leads anywhere.
This is hardly accurate. The defining moment of her childhood is traumatic, yes, but that's pretty much it. After that she's fostered in a wealthy, caring family, goes to the best schools and generally has everything set for her. Again, you could make an argument about her being neglected in her foster family (which is flimsy at best), but that's hardly having a childhood "filled with misery and abuse".
No idea what's happening here but this is my favorite movie of the year.Been like a decade since I've seen mega64. Can't wait for the end of evangelion.
It's a fun abridged version of Evangelion. CAn't wait until they do the movies. No idea what's happening here but this is my favorite movie of the year.
To be fair, it’s not exactly a major leap in logic to assume that your mother tried/wanted to kill you if she hanged the doll she thought was you before hanging herself. In relation to Rei, the anime version doesn’t quite complete her character arc until End of Evangelion so if all you saw was the series itself, Rei feels underdone and forgotten.
As for Asuka, she wasn’t fostered in the anime, her father hooked up with his wife’s nurse - classy bastard - and didn’t give much though to Asuka’s feelings on the matter. Also anime Kyoko I only recall hanging herself and a doll she thought was Asuka, not making any direct attempt on Asuka herself but later episodes muddle that a bit. Asuka did find Kyoko’s body, which would traumatise any five year old, but there was never much evidence that she suffered the same emotional abuses and isolation that Shinji did. Indeed her step mother does try reaching out to her but Asuka being Asuka is hostile about it, and she got to skip grades and go to university and was likely treated very well in Nerv Europe.
I don’t disagree, but it’s still likely to be less traumatic than being physically attacked and have them attempt to murder you.To be fair, it’s not exactly a major leap in logic to assume that your mother tried/wanted to kill you if she hanged the doll she thought was you before hanging herself.
One of the other Mass Production Evangelions threw it. There is no mystery.Never noticed this.
I care, because I’m very interested to see how it ends.Oh hey, this shit's finally coming out soon. Anybody even care anymore, other than people selling merch?
I care, because the original Evangelion is my favourite anime, and though I pretty much hate the rebuilds (despite occasional moments of brilliance), I want this to be done out of a desire for closure.Oh hey, this shit's finally coming out soon. Anybody even care anymore, other than people selling merch?
Considering most of the great talent left Gainax to form Studio Trigger (an animation company with way more interesting anime), I certainly don't. Looks meh and the franchise is going to end with a whimper or loud fart knocking in the wind.Oh hey, this shit's finally coming out soon. Anybody even care anymore, other than people selling merch?
