For one of my favorite exes. Took her SCUBA diving, and signed "I love you" 60ft under the water, in absolute pristine, clear water, next to a group of turtles swimming past (what is a group of turtles called, anyway? A school? A herd?). It was the first time I'd said it for her, and she thought it extra special because she loves turtles (coincidence, I swear) and was definitely getting that "Does he actually love me?" feeling. After the dive, we went out for dinner, and came back for a midnight dive (something I'd definitely recommend to anyone who can dive), holding hands while we dove, led by only the light of the beacon above and our own flashlights.

Myself and My boyfriend of 2 years and 4 months have had our ups and downs, but still keep going.
Our best advice would be keep being best friends whatever happens, and always have at least one day of the week to be silly and be together, whether its out in the town just having a window shop, or in the park watching him chasig the pidgeons. No one has to spend money unless they want to and they can still have a happy relationship.

Do I count as a nerd? Eh, I think I do. I'm probably equal parts nerd, metalhead and lazy butt.

Anyway, I haven't had a much chance to be romantic with my girlfriend yet. Super long distance. But I'm currently in the process of saving up for a silver Lord of The Rings "One Ring" for her, and saving up for the parts for a gaming desktop for her. :3

*sigh* Yes, one hopes it gets small enough to find someone else eventually.
Never give up dear. For me, I hope I've already found someone like that, if it really gets somewhere is still something for the (hopefully) near future, but I like to believe it's looking up good. I'll just keep my fingers crossed and keep working towards a positive end result, hopefully she shares those thoughts.

As for suggestions what to do in your little role-play: share your nerd side with her, and also very important; nerd boyfriends are apparently known for their gentle and tender sides. They make good listeners, and they actually talk back (*gasp* I know right), are interested in your person and not just your boobs. Be careful to not transform in the creepy, stalker kind of guy, nerd boyfriends apparently have a higher risk in becoming a creep like that.

I work in theatre, the most romantic thing that I think I have done for a girlfriend was have a private candle light dinner in the theatre.

XD Okay, thought no better place to mention this than here, but I am now a nerdy boyfriend!

(One of my best friends wants a break from guys and them hitting on her so she's inventing a Canadian boyfriend and I get to be him online when she needs proof.)

Any suggestions on what I should do? :p

Heh, I did something like that before I ever met my girlfriend in person. She was tired of having 13-year old boys hitting on her in the chat room, so she would always tell me when it was happening and I would go onto a secondary account and start PMing the person. I would pretend I was her father and tell the kid to stop talking to my daughter: I'd accuse him of all sorts of crap and intimidate him until he'd back off. It was rather entertaining at times. Then I got my cousin online to meet her and, while in the same room as him, got on and pretended to be her father again. He didn't figure it out for like an hour: it was hilarious.

You could always just do that: it works brilliantly. :D

Well I met my girlfriend on a chat room for Avatar: The Last Airbender (yes, one of the nerdier love stories ever), and she lives 4 hours away from me. Long-distance relationships are hard, but we've been going strong for about a year and a half now.

There was one time that I realized that I had kind of been neglecting her. I felt horrible about it and dedicated myself to paying more attention to her. The first step in that plan? Plot with her mother (her family likes me, so I can do stuff like that) to have two dozen roses bought and scattered around my girlfriend's room while she was at work. I also mailed a handwritten apology/love letter to her mother, who put it on her desk for her to read when she got back. Since then I've had her mom put one of her favorite candies in her room every time she's at work.

A bit on the nerdier side, for Valentine's Day last year I was learning to code visual novels (very basic video games), and I created kind of an interactive love letter for her, with some questions for her to answer and everything. She loved that.

Go nerds! :D

This is my favourite so far :) I really like that. The roses were a nice touch but what got me was the interactive love letter thing. thats so sweet.
It's tough with the distance, so I try to do stuff like that now and again. I also surprised her once by taking her to the Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy concert, which she retaliated by taking me to Star Wars in Concert. Ah, nerd love. :p

My friends make fun of me because my "dates" mostly consist of syncing up a movie and chatting online while we watch it. It works, though.

Also,

I asked out my EX-girlfriend through a Haiku.

Makes me sick thinking about it now though.
That's awesome. I don't know what she thought, but Haiku is the best kind of poetry (short, to the point, and easy to write :p).

She went nuts over it. Thought i was the best thing since sliced bread, Feels really cheesey now though.

My girlfriend is much more of a gamer nerd than me, in the sense that she is better at almost every game we play. Its horrible when she gloats about destroying me on CS:S which is all the time x.x

Anyway, we went on a cruise boat and I had a chef prepare a candle lit meal on a beach of one of the islands the ship stops at. I think thats the most romantic thing we have done.

Don't worry man - when people achieve their dream selfs its not all it's cracked up to be. Humility is the key to happiness. Just stick with your passions and your job can never get you down.

i can't say i'm a great fan of nerd boyfriends, my ex's last was a real nerd and he broke down in tears repeatedly every time she walked past him. he's spent the last 8 months threatening suicide and texting her say "your all i had to live for" etc etc etc. its sad, pathetic and totally fucking pointless. all its done is driven her to block his number.
He doesn't sound like a nerd.
He sounds like an emotionally depressive idiot with a few nerdy interests.
Try not to confuse them.

My boyfriends pretty nerdy, though he'd hate me for saying that :3

Most romantic thing he's done was paint me a picture for my birthday :)

And for Valentines day he came downstairs while I was making dinner and hugged me, when I looked back at dinner there was a love heart shaped box with the necklace that I wanted (he didn't know I wanted it) in there :)

sorry I know this is random but is your avatar the moose from ZIM?
I just have to know.
Haha, yes. It is indeed the moose, of the "Room with a Moose" episode. I love Invader Zim: one of the two things Nickelodeon has done right lately. Avatar, and Zim. But they canceled Zim, so I only give them credit for Avatar (favorite show of all time). But Nick is also responsible for Spongebob, so I give Mike and Bryan (creators of Avatar) credit for Avatar. Nickelodeon gets nothing.

All that to say, yes. Yes it is.
