now netflix needs to bring a streaming only plan for like 6 dollars a month to the US. I all most never rent discs from the service I only ever stream. I would completely love them to make a streaming only option.
"Kiki's Delivery Service" DVD has been at my house for over 3 months at this point.

I watched it, and can't find anything else I want to watch that's not on Instant.

OT:

Enjoy, Canadians! Don't worry about the discs...you won't need them.
there is loads of stuff I want to watch on the service but I dont have the time to wait around for discs to get shipped, put the disc in, ship the disc back, streaming I just start up my 360 and I get awesome quality and sound and all at my finger tips.

About time those Yanks decided to share with us! Hurrah!

[sub][sub]...I'm sure some people in Quebec are going to be angry about the whole "No French" thing...[/sub][/sub]

The snobby Quebec people are pwned for the time being. That's my perception of things.

Yes, I want to Quebec and no, those people have yet to change my stereotype of them. French people fine but the Quebec people are too much for me. Don't flame, it's MY experience.
Since 90% of the Canadian population is unilingually English, I really don't think this is a big deal anyway.
Exactly, I haven't met anyone that only speaks French but still, it gave me two good chuckles when they mentioned "French will be included 'over time'". My humour is awkward I suppose.
don't forget New Brunswick they too are semi french
We are all supposed to be bilingual now. That whole french immersion thing (that I missed) in schools. I am surprised they are allowed to come in without both.
same here i missed that thing too.
where i live only certain schools were designated as French immersion. there was one elementary school and one secondary school who would accept only about a hundred students and they would sort of be in their own little bubble.

I'm in Quebec and I speak english... OH MY GOD I BLEW YOUR MIND RIGHT!
But yeah, thank god we'll finally be getting Netflix. Being a big film buff, it makes me really happy.
Obviously I wasn't referring that they don't speak English. They just have a strong preference for French and rather remain clear from English. OMFG indeed. And no, I am not dissing...Well I actually am. Sorry.
As a half-blood Quebecois I feel the French Whine and ***** too much too. Yes the French lanuage should be supported but fuck those draconian language laws back to the fascist pit that spawned them. That said you'll meet a surprisingly larger amount of decently bilingual Quebecois if you bothered to check. Come down to Montreal I can guarantee everyone will at least try to speak to you in English if they see you can't speak French.

Et Oui je parle le Francais courament au travail et a la maison. Mon Francais ecrit est malheureusement piteux en comparaison avec mon anglais, c'est ci qui arrive can on vas au secondaire/Cegep/Universite en anglais. Tabarnak!

Except almost no one in Canada has unlimited internet usage, thanks to the CRTC unlimited usage plans are all but vanishing.

Let me guess, it's going to come with a huge price increase just because we're Canadian. (as evidence by our books, magazines, movies, music and video games).

I have a Netflix account but I just about never use the stream function. It seems that 99.9% of the movies they have available for streaming are either acient, "b movies", or ancient b movies!

Can anyone explain this to me? Shouldn't it be cheaper for them stream things online instead of mail them? That way they avoid the shipping costs.

Last time I checked, several companies existed in Canada that offered a similar service. I even tried a few. I wasn't too impressed, too often a DVD just wouldn't work, or would work badly.

But I don't believe any of them offered online streaming.
That's the best part! The streaming!
$10 or so a month to stream straight to my 360 to play on my TV?
Cheaper then renting. Faster then Renting. Cheaper then cable.

Hook. Me. Up.

Now I know not everything will be available, but I'm totally OK with that.
I'll more then likely be getting this service.

We already have Zip.ca, so I'm not too burned up about the not-getting-discs part. However, given the cost of bandwidth up here in the Yukon, I don't think it's going to help us all that much.
