While what you're saying is true, they are still Batman spawned. They come from the house that the Bat built, all thought up to give more depth to the Batman. While they are going to have lives of their own, they still have that indelible link.Parakeettheprawn said:I actually can't blame them -that- much for pushing Batman characters since a number of them feature outside of Gotham. Riddler, Joker, Harley Quinn, Nightwing (not Night Wing), Barbara Gordon (Batgirl/Oracle), Poison Ivy, and Catwoman have all been prominently featured in non-Batman material. I'm not saying I don't want YJ -- I'd love that (although I would rather all of them be included -- unrealistic but still if we're talking complete hypotheticals).
I mean, we already got most of the bigs up there. This is DC's chance to actually help their franchises that aren't that big. We have the draw, being able to slug it out as Superman. And we already know he sells... Ok, so who doesn't but has the oppurninity to be big? Swamp Thing wouldn't be my choice, but the mythos that has spawned with him (The Elemental Forces like the Green he is connected to) is pretty fascinating. Bring in Big Barda or Brainiac (if Brainiac isn't a DLC, these people are idiots) Hell, this is a chance to get really creative with the whole Trait Mechanic.
Say Fire and Ice. As a single player. Their whole trait is that you beam on of them in at a time from the Watchtower, and it take some time to recharge the zeta beam. So if you knock one out, it makes sense why the other doesn't just come in. no one to activate the transfer. Completely different move sets. It would be interesting.
Or hell, get the Only Orange Lantern in here. Larfleeze is the the only Lantern of Avarice, right? And he has the ability to take energy of other lanterns and create dupes of those who he defeats? Great. Combine those. His trait is that if you hit him with YOUR trait, he builds an energy stack for a stronger super.
The trait will have him glowing for like say 3 seconds. If you hit him while glowing orange with your trait, or he hits those characters that have a non-hitting trait move (like Nightwing's and Wonder Woman's character stances at least two seconds after the switch, or if Harley takes out her bag of tricks and recharges her life with again that two second window) with a special overhead that is only active when Larfleeze has his trait up, he'll build a stack.
To show how much of a window he has to hit the stance switches or the recharges, maybe a 'MINE, MINE' will appear over the near the enemy's trait. It'll glow orange for the first second, go white for the second, just be one 'MINE' for the last second and then eventually go away.
Of course there has to be limits. Maybe he's one of the slowest recharges or he has to do a special move or a throw to start the recharge process of his trait
His Super will be he sics Five Orange Lantern Constructs on you for like 30% damage. For each stack he has (up to three), he adds 1 more lantern and one more second to the beat down. each stack will add 10% damage. That alone would add so many mind games alone. Can you keep Larfleeze away long enough that you can get some use out of your trait? Do you risk going in with Supes and use the extra damage?
They have a good start so far. They have a game that feels like it sort of belongs in the DC universe. Now with DLCS, I want to see them get creative with what they have. There are so many resources at their finger tips with the vastness of the DC universe. These aren't the best ideas for characters and traits, but it's enough to get people talking.
... I just realized that looks like I was pouring that all on you, Parakeet. I wasn't. I just thought up those ideas while typing and got excited.
