With the succes Ubisoft has had with their Assassin's Creed series, it's no wonder they are turning up the pace in bringing us consumers another game. Promising a new installation of the game in the 2010-11 line-up, Ubisoft has really turned up the volume.

In an interview with Gamasutra, Ubisoft are saying that the next game in the series will be the first to feature online multiplayer. Furthermore it was confirmed that this will be a full game and not just another load of DLC.

A representative from Ubisoft also told CVG that the new game will "take place with the same hero, which is Ezio, and will follow-up the story that took place in Assassin's Creed 2." Which will probably mean that the next game in the series possibly won't be AC III, since that is 'said' to take place during World War II and may feature a female Assassin.

The new Assassin's Creed will appear sometime in the next fiscal year, Ubisoft writes, which could mean a Spring 2011 release. With the franchise now seen as a 'sure thing' though, don't be surprised if it's out by the end of the year.

how does multiplayer work in a game about assassinations? Will you just play minigames with the other players?or will there be a co-op play?

The new game will have online multiplayer?
Hm, why does that sound so familiar... oh yes, they said that about ACII.

So, Velvet assassin then?

OP: I haven't even played the second yet.

I hope the PC version is good. Otherwise: FURBURT SMASH!
I haven't either (I will so hopefully) but one of my close friends has and he said it's a barrel of good fun. You have to admit, stabbing two people at once does sound like fun.

I was under the impression Future Desmond was going to be the focus of the next game. I'm glad Ezio is going to be in the next game, as Altiar wasn't really my cup of tea and Desmond just seems... bland to me.

Altaïr is from the first one right? Yeah he's a bit of a wanker. Still waiting for the PC release of AC2, so I can't really comment there. The first game was fun enough though.

Possible idea for multiplayer: ONe player is the target, he/she gets to set up a number of guards and give them patrol parterns or lookout points and the assassin has to stealth over and kill the target, oh and if you take the loud approach, lets just say its gonna make SPace invaders look like a tiny skrimish.

Not sure if the Multiplayer Online idea interests me but certainly another Assassin's Creed game does :D

I have very much enjoyed ACII but not sure if continuing Ezio's story will be good or not. While cooler than Altair he is pretty much a moron and a hot head. Random Person - "They have betrayed me and become spies against me" Ezio - "I shall kill them then." Does he even think that anyone would trick him into doing their dirty work thus getting him into trouble? But I digress, online multiplayer will be something interesting to see, but honestly I don't really care for it in a game like AC, but we shall see.
