Nice engine. Should give the Unreal engine a run for it's money.
The CryEngine 2 already did.

Looks really nice, anyone else wondering whether the hands and gun belong to Crysis 2?
Not quite, the Unreal 3 engine doesn't need a £254,000 PC to run.
Have you played Crysis? My PC is by no means slow but it's not some quad-core, 8 GB RAM, dual GFX card monster. I can run it on high-very high (most settings on very) with no troubles. Basic specs are: 2GB RAM, 512mb GeForce 9600gt and a core2duo E6750 @ 2.66 ; about £650, a little way off the supposed £2,000 PCs people are claiming it needs.

And I meant it out-did the Unreal engine in terms of looks.

The pop-ins every three seconds really ruined it for me. And it looked like it was lagging.

Other than that though it looked excellent.

Neither does Crysis. Why do people love to exaggerate the cost of a decent gaming PC? For the same price as the PS3/Xbox360 you can get a computer with some serious chops. That doesn't include monitor and speakers, but then again a console doesn't come with an HDTV and a sound system either.
Much love for you ;)

Interesting. I have 2GB RAM, Geforce 9600GS and an Athlon 64 X2 4200+, and I can't run it above low. I can't quote you a price, though, as the RAM and processor were gifts.

Does this cross-platform compatibility mean you could use mods for the consoles?
Almost certainly not.

There isn't much reason you can't have mods for UT3, Gears and all the other Unreal engine based games. Except that the console companies will ban your account from networks for doing it.

The problem isn't the hardware now, it's the dudes pulling the strings, they really don't want you to have anything for free.

am I the only one that noticed the speed difference in some of the objects, between the renders?
Namely the speed at which the fan was turning.

Anyhow, it's a good concept, I've been hopeful they would find a way to make games for all three. Of course this may hurt the actual console sellers but will allow more titles on pc and the consoles giving the game developers more room.

UT3 does support mods on the PS3 I think you have to run them off a flash drive

Well I think the 9600GS is actually a re-packaged 8000 model, although I'm not entirely sure.

I Could run the game on low before I got this PC on 1GB RAM (in XP though) with a GeForce 6200 and a Pentium 4 @ about 1.8 ; so I'm not sure what's up with yours.

What resolution do you run it in?

It was 1024 x 768 on the old spec but I got a new monitor for my current machine so it's 1360 x 768.

It would be nice to use that Engine to make your game but if you are a first time Dev team that is rather small you are probably not gonna be able to license the Engine due to it's cost.
Searching around the only number I got up was 1 million for the Cry Engine, and around $350 000 for the Unreal Engine 2.

Inside areas look a lot better now. Outside is still roughly the same.

Crysis is not nearly as demanding as people make it out to be. Not to play with good graphics. A 500-800 bucks PC nowadays should be able to run crysis on all High at a decent resolution, or at the very least full Medium with very, very good framerate. Off course, if you want the "MEGA-ULTRA HIGH!!" graphics, yeah, you're going to have to pay for the performance... Go figure.

Unless I'm missing something, the original Cry Engine already dragged the Unreal 3 engine through the mud and stomped on it's face, this one just wipes it's feet on it without breaking a sweat.

That demonstration was quite brilliant and should make cross platform development less of a chore. Hell it's a developers programming dream to do something like this so seamlessly. Good job Crytek, I can't wait for Crysis 2 and a really hope that this engine becomes a real standard in the industry. Crytek has made an outstanding tool set.

hi, the new cryengine 3 looks amazing !!!
Can somebody show me a good game that is using unreal 3 engine !!!!!
Nobody can show me such game because there is no such game, every game that is using unreal 3 engine is a peace of crap, beacuse if they dont wont to use a good engine, they wont try to make a good story or a good peace of action....
The real developers are the once who use their own engine, further the best engine is cryengine 2 (and the best developer is crytek), but there are many good developers such as techland with their chrome engine 4 that is far more better than unreal engine 3 or ubisoft montreal with the engine of the game princ of persia....
Long story short, unreal 3 engine is one of the worst engine, weit und breit !!!!
Sincerely, in your face unreal lovers !!!!

Cross-platform compatibility is pretty awesome. Shows what can be done from people who know their shit and actually go to work occasionally, instead of sitting on their asses, bitching and moaning all day long like Gabe Newell.

Mirrors edge, UT3 and the upcomming Borderlands all use Unreal3
Otherwise nobody can touch Crytek when it comes to coding for some reason Germans just always seem to have more powerfull stuff

That is good for interconnectivity, but to me the 360 versions lighting looked darker whereas the ps3 version looked far too light. Anybody else?
