I have no problem with Ninja Theory doing the game, save for the fact that I am worried about the combat system. I don't really like the way Dante looks when he is moving either. I will be eagerly awaiting gameplay footage.

I wouldnt be suprised if this wasnt actually dante but another kid of spardas whos had a hard life. hes not using ebony or ivory the guns he inheirted from sparda nor does he have his amulet from his mother. he also wasnt using rebellion in the trailer. there are a lot of sparda heirlooms missing from this trailer. maybe this guy is actually crazy? :S

I'm thinking that this might be a totally new character, just like how Nero was the new character in DMC4. Still can't see why they'd do that again, but it makes more sense than the new 'gritty reboot' Dante that they seem to have now.

Can't wait for this to show up on youtube so I can get properly pissed off.

Wow...going along with the general consensus...his design is awful. Way too Western and, as mentioned, the whole thing seems to lack the Gothic DMC vibe.
No problem with a young(er) Dante, but they should have kept his white hair...that's like his trademark thing!
Also, who's doing his voice? I know it's quite early to decide whether you like it or not just based on "DANTE" but...he sounds way too rugged considering he's like 14.

Furthermore, why is he smoking??

I wish that they would release a DMC PS2 collection on the PS3, like what was done with God of War 1 and 2. Maybe they could even un-screwup DMC2 while they're at it. I actually never bought any DMC game, but I did rent them and generally didn't like them. However, I think my tastes changed as I grew up because I got Bayonetta fairly recently and really like it. If they rereleased them, I would buy and give them a second chance.

I'm finding Dante hard to take seriously when he looks like Lisbeth Salander from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Sure the series needed a reboot, but the redesigned Daunte looks ridiculous.

But that's just it...it didn't. And if people really thought we did need one, we got it already. It's called Bayonetta. If you reboot a title you change the story or the background and maybe a bit of the gameplay, not butcher the character beyond recognition. There was no reason why they couldn't have just called this something entirely different.

Fact is Devil May Cry had a lot of fans (including me), and now those fans got pissed on, I doubt they'll be happy.

All they had to do was...well...

Meh Bayonetta suffers from a director who knows how to make a fun game, but can't make a game that is funny because he tries too hard. Bayonetta is like DMC5 in reverse in that Kamiya has no fucking clue how to make a character that will appeal to westerners using the stripper motif without taking it way too far and running it into the ground. DMC5 does have the fact that we don't know how it plays yet going for it, so not all is lost.

A DMC with Vergil as protagonist would be pretty awesome. It could follow the events of DMC 3, with Vergil in the demon world.

After watching the trailer I can honestly say I have no interest in this "DmC" game. Devil May Cry does not need a reboot, and I await the return of Dante, not some twit in an over sized coat.

I'm not a fan of japanese games in general. Sure, I like a couple, but usually I avoid them like the plague. I never thought that by appealing to western audiences they could actually do a worse job.

It might be a case of "they changed it now it sucks" but i just can't get used to this as Devil May Cry. It seems like it's been shoveled through the "modernizer" and had shitty focus groups tell them what everyone else apparently likes.

I'll wait til i see some gameplay though.
