Without context yeah it looks pretty good. And the new dante will probably be a pretty cool guy.

My problem with it is just that it heralds the end of quirky dante and I thought he was awesum :'(

Maybe they could split the series? Just keep making new games with old dante ad make this into it's own franchise.

I like the redesign

The visual style of the game looks good and the gameplay looks to be visceral and smooth. If it is indeed a work in progress and is going to be continually refined this could be great.
You're lucky your avatar is Pinkie Pie >:D

However, I do have to agree with you on the gameplay. I just hope they don't change Dante's personality too much. I liked him as the snarky smart-ass

Honestly much better than the reveal trailer gives me some hope, I realize work is still in progress but a few things really got to me

Attacking and movement speed seemed inconsistent between fights
Doesn't look as "freeform" with its combos as past DMC games
The whole "your world is a lie" reeks stupid plot twist ending
Textures, effect, and animations are really ugly and unpolished
Dante looks different but more like a jersey shore cast member now
While I appreciate the colors used everything still looks too grimdark
Dante is still overly serious with a constant scowlface, no more partys.

Looks very colorful, pleasing to the eyes, and I am ever so grateful for that. I doubt I will get it as I have never really been much of a fan of Devil May Cry, but it does look like an interesting direction they are taking the franchise to.

Eh?

The gameplay looks no different from the others. And as much as I love the series and can cope with the new design (to an extent) if they aren't going to up their game in the combat then I'm not interested.

Overall, the gameplay looks like the only thing they got right. But gameplay wasn't the only thing that made DMC memorable. DmC still sucks stylistically. Imagery - lifted of Silent Hill and Nier. Monster designs - SIlent Hill and Shadows of the Damned. Unoriginal.
My decision to ignore and boycott DmC - still in effect.

I could call this trailer OK and not a crime against everything DMC stands for... but I would sure as Hell not call it STYLISH.

Also the combat seems more clunkier and less fluid than it was in DMC3 and DMC4. As expected after switching studios. But still lamentable.

I am actually looking forward to this game, and I didn't mind the Dante redesign in the first place. I think this game's going to be a good game.

Also, I really want to find out what that song's called. It was awesome.

As long as I can style switch and JC, I really don't care. I'm getting it anyway if the combat system isn't messed up.

DMC3 had the best out of the series in my opinion, DMC4 was also good, but didn't quite have the same finesse that DMC3 had. Bring back the combat style of DMC3 and colour me interested.

That's basically it. Just give me a decent combat system and I'm happy.

I can't shake the feeling there's something emo or wangsty hanging over this. DMC4 was the franchise killer for me, I'm not falling for this garbage.

nero wasn't that bad, i liked DMC4, apart from lazy level design and a shitty plot. i didn't think it was bad because of the character change anyway.

and MGS2 is still good IMO.

however this looks, bad. i know its a work in progress but, it looks like it has a huge way to go. the redesign of dante is awful, makes him look like something out of twilight. the gameplay looks, meh. seems that they have just mashed nero and dante's combat style. the enemies look uninspiring, and the graphics look very sub-par, last-gen graphics. it looks similar to DMC3 graphics-wise.

i think capcom have destroyed a good gaming series, it saddens me

I dunno... I'm still not sold just yet, especially when some of those attacks seemed to ripped straight from Nero in DMC4. And "Dante's" hair turns white when he activated Devil Trigger? Hmm...
That's what I thought too, those attacks were definitely Nero's but I'm not sure if that white hair thing was his "Devil Trigger". However, I can't say anything for sure, this is just speculation.

Well I was never big into DMC because difficulty progression was all over the place, and now with this anorexic stoner hobo I can safely walk away

I think a lot of your problems really boil down to it being a work in progress. The movement speed will surely be refined. The combat probably won't be as freeform as I would like but the only game to have outstanding combat was 3. The conspiracy texts have been explained in interviews, Ninja Theory have tried to make this game apply to what is cool now in western culture, and to be truthful most DMC games have had all the demon shit going on away from the public. Even in the Anime it was a very covert thing. No defense for the colour pallet or attitude of Dante though, however I will say that this is an origin story, so maybe Dante hasn't discovered his sexuality yet with all that smoking.

Maybe he gets some fine demon ass and that sets him up to be the cockiest dick known to modern gaming.

On several different threads I have written entire walls of text bashing every problem I can find with Shamballa. It left me angry, annoyed, nearly ashamed to have wasted two hours of my life on a movie that was supposed to fix the ending of the show that got me into anime in the first place. If the ending of the original hadn't been so bad I'd declare it superior to Brotherhood, but alas it isn't.

There is, however, a 3-minute short called "kids". Watch it. It softens the blow of that ending. Even if it isn't canon, it just... does. Trust me.
I never got to finish the original..
If I watch the movie from only have finishing Brotherhood, will it make me rage as well?

It looks like it'll be fun. But I'm still a bit wary on the redesign of Dante, and for that little bit when his hair turned white, didn't he look more like Vergil than anyone else? Or is that just me?

With good reason though. They're "Rebooting" the series. Translation - They're taking away the story and all the character development so far, rewriting the story. Basically a "reboot" is just a nice way of saying "Doing a new story but without the imagination to create something completely new, so we're reusing old stuff and also hoping to attract it's current fans as as side effect". As you might have guessed I'm not a reboot fan.

There are several things which define a DMC game for me. One is smooth gameplay which sadly seems to be lacking in that trailer. It could just be that DMC 4's combat was so smooth that it's hard to compare, but the fighting looks very clunky. Hell the walk he does look's clunky. The graphics are worse which is never a good thing especially considering how good the graphics were in previous DMC games.

And well...I don't mind change as long as it's good. I was skeptical of Nero at first but he grew on me. The difference is that, despite skeptisicm, I could tell there would be at least some elements of DMC 4 I would like despite it's changes. I'm not seeing that here.

So please don't just clump us all in one group and tag us with "Haters gonna hate", not everyone will dislike this just because "it's different", some of us actually think the game looks pretty poor as is and even poorer for unoriginal IP.

At least your keeping an open mind. Most people are just instantly against this game because of a change in hair color (Which is perfectly explained by the games lore.) and an outfit change. If they don't change the character itself too much I fail to see why anyone is getting so upset about it.

P.S. Pinkie pie is my flame shield :}
