With good reason though. They're "Rebooting" the series. Translation - They're taking away the story and all the character development so far, rewriting the story. Basically a "reboot" is just a nice way of saying "Doing a new story but without the imagination to create something completely new, so we're reusing old stuff and also hoping to attract it's current fans as as side effect". As you might have guessed I'm not a reboot fan.Glademaster said:I think DMC 4 proved even after MGS 2 also proved that people don't like a change in main character so people still won't like this no matter what they do.
At least your keeping an open mind. Most people are just instantly against this game because of a change in hair color (Which is perfectly explained by the games lore.) and an outfit change. If they don't change the character itself too much I fail to see why anyone is getting so upset about it.BoredDragon said:You're lucky your avatar is Pinkie Pie >icame said:*Flame shield up*
I like the redesign
The visual style of the game looks good and the gameplay looks to be visceral and smooth. If it is indeed a work in progress and is going to be continually refined this could be great.
However, I do have to agree with you on the gameplay. I just hope they don't change Dante's personality too much. I liked him as the snarky smart-ass
There will be people who do not like this no matter what they do. About 7 years apart and an almost unrecognisable personality between games is hardly something I'd call growing up with a character. I might accept it more if his personality didn't radically shift between games.Madara XIII said:Of course not. It's such a huge gamble that Capcom is taking. One can only hope it turns out alright, even if I do enjoy the game I will not refer to this character as Dante. I just can't
I never said haters gonna hate nor did I lump everyone who hates redesigns into one group. I simply said people will not like this no matter what they do. I never said all people wouldn't but some won't. As I already said some people hate redesign for the sole reason that it is a redesign. Yes there are some bad ones and can also do good ones. Now there is a certain grey area for opinion but I think we can all agree redesigns can go either way.Valdus said:With good reason though. They're "Rebooting" the series. There are several things which define a DMC game for me. One is smooth gameplay which sadly seems to be lacking in that trailer. It could just be that DMC 4's combat was so smooth that it's hard to compare, but the fighting looks very clunky. Hell the walk he does look's clunky. The graphics are worse which is never a good thing especially considering how good the graphics were in previous DMC games.
And well...I don't mind change as long as it's good. I was skeptical of Nero at first but he grew on me. The difference is that, despite skeptisicm, I could tell there would be at least some elements of DMC 4 I would like despite it's changes. I'm not seeing that here.
So please don't just clump us all in one group and tag us with "Haters gonna hate", not everyone will dislike this just because "it's different", some of us actually think the game looks pretty poor as is and even poorer for unoriginal IP.
Yes and I liked Nero and Raiden. I don't care if others don't but it isn't good to redesign a characters personality or looks. Apart from the plot(which I don't care about in DMC type games) and the levels(my problem here was going through all levels twice) it was a decent game. Then there were people who solely disliked it based on Nero. There will always be hardcore purists like this. Yes they could have done a better redesign but they are trying to reach out to a different audience.suitepee7 said:nero wasn't that bad, i liked DMC4, apart from lazy level design and a shitty plot. i didn't think it was bad because of the character change anyway.Glademaster said:I think DMC 4 proved even after MGS 2 also proved that people don't like a change in main character so people still won't like this no matter what they do.
and MGS2 is still good IMO.
however this looks, bad. i know its a work in progress but, it looks like it has a huge way to go. the redesign of dante is awful, makes him look like something out of twilight. the gameplay looks, meh. seems that they have just mashed nero and dante's combat style. the enemies look uninspiring, and the graphics look very sub-par, last-gen graphics. it looks similar to DMC3 graphics-wise.
i think capcom have destroyed a good gaming series, it saddens me
Actually my entire opinion on this changed come to find out that a few of my friends who read the DMC novel said that this is NOT A REBOOT, but even Capcom said that this is an ORIGINS story about how Dante learned to accept his demon heritage and how he became the white haired Demon Hunter. So in other words, the story is Cannon and takes place before DMC3 with Dante possibly going under the guise Tony Redgraves. So in short. I can't wait for this game now. Playing as an adolescent Dante sounds funGlademaster said:There will be people who do not like this no matter what they do.
