I loved it until I finished the game and realised I didn't care for any of the characters except Sazh. I literally only finished the game because I was determined to actually finish an FF.FinalHeart95 said:I liked FFXIII, but not as much as the old ones. I'll probably get this, or at least make my brother get it since he's the one with the DS.
Admittingly, I haven't played Final Fantasy V (and I thought I played all the older FF titles =( ). I am going to have to try it one day to see how the two actually mesh. Beacuse the general rule is that the more customisation you have, the harder it is to execute character development without having that development make no sense within the context of the player's choices.JEBWrench said:Final Fantasy V would like to have a word with you.Tom Phoenix said:However, since the main characters need to be generic for customisation to work to any great degree, all semblance of character development is preety much thrown out the window.
Though it's not as epic of characterization as IV and VI were, I think V did an excellent job of managing the combination of customization through the use of the job system with keeping the characters more than blank slates.Tom Phoenix said:Admittingly, I haven't played Final Fantasy V (and I thought I played all the older FF titles =( ). If Final Fantasy V managed to develop characters without making any of the customisation choices seem bizzare and "out of character", then great. In that case, I hope to see that in this game as well. But if not....well, then you get my point.
That's actually closer to the system Xenosaga uses, rather than classic Final Fantasy.Tom Goldman said:Battles work how Final Fantasy battles "should" work, in a turn-based environment where players save up action points to use more powerful attacks.
