DOS is an old group of operating systems.

As for ideas for the next halo game in the franchise...well fuck anything will sell really.
Holy crap, I was thinking he was asking DOS as in D.O.S. not the old computer programing.

Frankly, I think it would have been better if they had killed Chief or had let him live a normal life after the war against the covenant because if anyone deserves it Chief does, he has literally lost all of his friends and his family, several potential girlfriends even his home planet was vaporized. I would think after all of that they would allow him to be happy but no he isn't allowed to be happy apparently, we will let him have the small satisfaction of getting to hang out with his quasi-girlfriend Cortana for a few more minutes then strand him in deep space.

The Chief's current state of affairs is allusory to the legend of King Arthur sleeping in Avalon until his country needs him. Few people caught that but I think that the allusions are one of the best features of the Haloverse.

I got the reference. Bungie have had a lot of biblical and mythological references woven into the games.

By the way, I also realise that your avatar is your Halo 3 emblem.

why dont they try a halo without the story, like a battlefield version of halo. If anyone has ever played the battlefield series, halo has some potential there.
You know what, that's actually a really good idea. Kinda like Star Wars Battlefront but with the Halo universe. You could choose between the UNSC forces (that's what they're called right?), the Covenant (Brutes, Jackals, Grunts) and the breakaway faction (Elites & Hunters). Each group would have different specialist units, etc. Then you've got all the vehicles as well.
It could work really well.

How about a game where Master Chief becomes a sadistic, bestial necrophiliac, and manically beats a dead horse?

A serious suggestion

Longsword (best title I can think of, but they probably want 'Halo' in there somewhere)
It's a fighter combat sim, like Rogue Squadron. Maybe this one could have real space flight physics instead of airial fighters getting shoehorned into space.

But, make it good, then make it Halo. And don't release it 'til it's done.
I like the way you think on this idea. I had a lot of fun with the starfighter segments of the Star Wars: Battlefront series.

Hell, I'd swallow a Halo knockoff of Battlefront: it was an excellent game, and that kind of mechanic would work well for masses of marines versus mingling masses of multiple covenant. Sure, it'd be a knockoff, but it could be fun. It'd give Lucasarts something to do that isn't Star Wars, and instead milk a different cash cow.

just kill the franchise now so the halo games could have gone out with a bang instead of going sonic the hedgehog on us.

Hmm they should make a game that isn't painfully average. Halo:CE is a great game, but the series lost me after that, both in terms of story and game play.Especially the story, actually. Halo2's ending was terrible, and i haven't played 3, but Ive heard the ending isn't too great. I recon they should cap it off properly, and id like them to port it to the ps3 so i could play it:p
I know that'll never happen though.
Also they could make the books into games. Cut out he hours of boring bits from the books, leaving the good bits for more games.

I definitely believe that there is some potential with the ODST point of view. The recent concept art has piqued my interest quite a bit. The new way of playing in an open world setting and then reaching a flashback point could work. I kind of think that Bungee is using Halo 3 ODST as an experiment in moving the gameplay in the actual game series to the open world FPS genre.

Here's the best idea. Kill the franchise and come up with something original. But I guess thats not going to happen... Not when money is involved..

A game in which Master Chief marries his black squadmate and they room together in a motel on Ganymede, kicking over roadsigns for bets.

I'm pretty sure the could make millions even if they remade a Hello Kitty game and replaced Kitty with master chief...

I would like to see a survival type horror game, maybe set within the world that MC was heading towards at the end of halo 3. To me personally i think halo has ended and i am glad, the story just seemed to get worse and worse. But that's just my point of view.

if y'all wanna know a good idea for a halo game then u better listen to what i gotta say... the date of this game is somewhere in between 2530 to 2540, or something like that. well basically its like a week or so before the official start of the war between the covenant and the UNSC. the character that you play is a marine in a special force called "W.O.L.F." (Warfare Ordnance Logistics Force)the name of the game would be called "Halo project:WOLF" or something. you and your 'Wolves' (that is the nick name that the marines involved in WOLF operations are called) suit up for a journey across the galaxy. when they arrive at their destination, Earth, they receive their mission. they are to guard and protect a senator or president or somebody important, i really dont care who, as he goes up to an unknown space craft(covenant ship) to negotiate peacefully with the strange alien race(elites, grunts, etc.) that threatens for control of the planet. things dont work out and the next thing you know, you and your squad are in a pelican, being chased away from the ship by banshees. your pelican and others are shot down from the sky, falling like a rock to the unfamiliar Earth... as your pelican spins out of control you get sucked out from it, lucky you, you have a parachute. as you fall like a feather you get a good long look at the environment that the game will be set in. also you get a stunning view of pelicans being shot down by banshees as far as the eye can see. a pelican gets shot down from the sky that is dangerously took close. as the aircraft does a thriller tail spin, pieces of metal and dubree rain on your parachute, leaving gaping holes that lead you plummeting to the ground.you are knocked out on impact and awaken hours later. your parachute is caught on a tree limb, as you dangle, you get to look around at your new playing environment. you reach into a pocket on your left leg and pull out a pocket knife. you cut the ropes and fall a few feet or so, nothing that could break a leg. it then shows a quick video of your character standing up looking around and raising up his weapon... you are now able to play and roam around the game......now the place in which you play in is a wide open, free to explore jungle. but not just any jungle, this jungle has many secrets in which you must figure out. amongst the jungley, swampy, woodsy stuff is an old 21st century metropolis. in the 22nd century or whatever, the discovery of planets that can obtain human life, raddled mankind. over time the metropolis's population shrunk smaller and smaller until it was nothing but a ghost town. after a while the surrounding jungle made them self at home, growing in streets and buildings and skyscrapers until mother nature was in complete control. your duty in this game is to stoke out the mysterious ruins and find your fallen wolves in the pelican crash cites while you fight off blood thirsty elites roaming the ruins looking for survivors....
