Looks exciting, but not really liking the new protagonist. I liked Cole, he was pretty badass. This guy just seems like typical "douchebag character A". I dunno. But I am loving the new fire powers, that's some sm3x1 flames.
he's not a douchebag

he's just a little troubled, and a "free spirit" he rebels against the systm because the systm doesnt get him

.....yeah he's a douche

As some of you know I run the inFAMOUS wiki, so I was looking forward to the reveal, unfortunately I live in the UK and with a 11pm GMT start for that conference I had no chance of watching it (not with a 5am wake up the next day!) So I haven't seen the conference yet.

Yes I'm overjoyed at the notion of another inFAMOUS game, though with the small amount of details at the moment I can't say much more??

Oh who am I kidding, I?m gonna miss Cole like mad, but a new inFAMOUS!!!

inFamous and Dragon Age are my favorite new IP's of the current console generation.
Finally, there's something that me want to own a next gen console.

I assume this means they went with the 'good' ending of inFamous 2 as cannon and we'll simply explain away why someone has superhero powers.

Funny thing ... I liked that image.
... well right up to the point where they told me it was Cole. >.<
Then my mouth dropped ...
but it ended well in the end.

BUT ... but when I saw the teaser. (We should of have it at the top so people could reference our complaints. XD)
Wow ... I mean it looks ... weird.
You know since it doesn't have the electricity powers and Cole. I thought that was one of the main interests of Infamous.
Cause ... I love lightning ... and storms ... it's in my name.

All I hope for is ...

- They might change the protag.
- They might change his powers.
- They might change the overall theme. :/

But I'll try to roll with whatever ... I hope they don't expect me to buy a PS4 just for this.

I did'nt get a InFamous feeling from the trailer and that worries me.
It looked more like Prototype actually.
Prototype was exactly the feeling I was getting to, not that that's necessarily a bad thing.

I guess we'll just wait and see I loved the first 2 but I'm probably not getting ps4 on this alone

Welp! I guess Infamous gets it's award taken away from Yahtzee. So will it go to Minecraft or something else? I'd like to see what Yahtzee says about this. COME FASTER RELEASE DATE!

Well, atleast they're smart enough that they are setting it in a different city with a new PC. The worst they could have done is half-assedely ressurected Cole and pulled a plot out of their ass (although the new PC looks like a douchbag). Can't help but feel it's going the "ha ha I'm blatantly trying to make a political point and pretending I'm being subtle" route like DMC did, but hopefully they don't go to overboard with it.

Still won't sell me on the console, no matter how much I liked Infamous 2.

Honestly, that teaser kind of pissed me off. Dev got on-stage, hinted at a potentially interesting, political game. Got me thinking about all the unique, refreshing mechanics and stories that such a game might deliver. And then... he revealed a game about dudes with superpowers killing dudes with guns. Yawn.

(That and the Killzone trailer. "This seems like it'd be a pretty cool environment to interact with, too bad there will be the inevitable explosion that transforms it into a setpiece shooter. Oh look, there it is.")
Yeah, but the superpower gameplay was what made InFamous so fun in the first place. I 1000% agree about the Killzone trailer. Nothing but setpiece after setpeice, and Guerrilla deciding to ignore ALL the physics.

So... they going to explain why there's Conduits (or humans) in this one? It does kinda shit all over inFamous 2's ending...
Well seeing as the good ending in iNFamous 2 pretty much put an end to all of the conduits. They could be spinning off of the bad ending where Cole is basically killing of all non-conduits. Though I'm not sure how that would work as the ending showed Cole being unstoppable and the virus killing all those that weren't conduits.
What makes the most sense to me is that's it's based on the good ending.

Cole ends up having to kill himself and all the conduits on the planet. That doesn't mean he necessarily killed the conduit gene itself. This game probably takes a few years after the second one.

Still though, I'm on the fence. Especially with the whole "evil government, blah, blah" thing that TOTALLY hasn't been done before. Look, I'm typically not a stickler when it comes to "OHGODNOTTHISAGAIN" but for fucks sake, this is just so typical.

So where's the lightning?

That mechanic played heavily in how you interacted with the world; Can't touch water, use outlets to heal yourself, use powerlines to travel quickly. Lets hope they can merge this red cinder/fire power with a decent traverse mechanic the same way the previous games did.
And this. That was one of my favorite things about Infamous. Cole's powers actually affected his life and the way he interacted with the world around him. (A comment about him only being able to take sponge baths sticks out in my mind) How is ash-boy gonna deal with that? Even if he, I don't know, falls apart or "goes out" when he touches water, how is he gonna get around? Cole was pretty quick, but utilizing wires and train tracks made him quicker.

Also, I hope Zeke is in this game...what? Infamous 2 actually made him likeable. Plus, he did help Cole get a grip on his powers.

Honestly, I really liked inFamous and wanted to see more stuff set in the world. InFamous 2 felt a little premature to me so this will be interesting. I just don't know if Second Son will be what I want.

Hopeful but suspicious is my attitude towards nearly everything right now.

I'm from Northern Ireland, we have a political party here. The Diplomatic Unionist Party or D.U.P..this will make this game unintentionally hilarious.

I'm looking forward to this! I love Infamous two of my favourite games this gen but I think they needed to ditch cole if they want to keep it going.

I'd hate for them to pull a force unleashed II and just resurrect cole, unless maybe the game follows the Evil ending?

I think God of War should go the same route next gen. Ditch Kratos, in fact ditch Ancient Greece. Move over to a new Mythology but keep what makes it GOW.

Oh, I'm not familiar with the dev, so I didn't know it was a new Infamous game during the intro. I thought he was playing up a new IP about some kinda "realistic" five minutes into the future scenario that played off contemporary politics. Like semi-police state vs. direct action activists in the midst of an even harsher economic collapse, maybe about stealth/free-running/occasional melee combat meant to be avoided at all costs.

So yeah, I'm sure Infamous is fun, but I was just mad that the guy seemed (to me) to be hinting at a very unique game on the level of "This is actually about what Mirror's Edge claimed to be about" but then revealed all that to be mere set dressing for another Infamous game.

The funniest comment I read about the Killzone trailer was by the QWOP guy: "wow that gamer must have practiced hard to be able to pull off that rope-grabbing maneuver!"

I'm disappointed that its fire based powers. I was hoping for something different. Like wind based or other powers. I mean expanding on the vampire powers from Festival of Blood would be cool.

I know its cliché but it think it is logical that the government and the people would be scared of these conduits. I mean people are walking around with abilities that could destroy entire blocks or entire cities. I mean the Beast destroyed most of the East coast. That is scary. These are walking arsenals and you can't be sure of what they are going to do with all that power. That is a scary thought and the general public would be right to be scared.

And last but not least what if these game takes place in Kessler's timeline. After Kessler jumps, that Beast is defeated. But its path of the destruction has left the world on the edge of ruin. A military power takes control because they have the best resources and normal people feel the safest with them.

I mean a world that was destroyed because of a conduit would distrust condits.

I don't think that would work at all. Say what you will about Kratos, but he's an undeniably iconic character - Taking him out of GoW would kill the series. You add the lack of Greek mythology and all you'll have left is an isometric action game.

I'd honestly just want the GoW team to work on a completely new IP.

Don't get me wrong I love my some Kratos but and I love me some GOW but I'd probably rather see them move on and make a new action game with GOW high production values than drag Kratos on and on.

Having said that I'm looking forward to ascension, it may even change my mind.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Let me re-phase what I said in an earlier thread. I will now wait until I can find a PS4 for $200 instead of $150.

I can't put into words how excited I am for this game since none of them would do it justice, and would be a massive understatement.

It does look like they would be going with the bad ending of inFamous 2 from what I can gather from the trailer. Red powers and all that. Also, did Cole and Kuo have a kid? Because the new guy kinda looks like both of them.

Actually it has to be competently separate from the other Infamous games seeing as how
in the end either all the humans die of a disease or all the conduits and potential conduits die.

I'm not sure I how I feel about this since so far it looks like a game for those angry rebellious idiot teenagers who want to "fight the power" but have no concept of how anything works. In addition, our only characters so far have all been assholes.

It might be taking place in th original timeline, from before Kessler went back and changed things. That would be interesting. Kind of a prequel set in the alternate future.
