What the hell?
Stop releasing the SAME DS GAME over and over, and actually make the NEXT INSTALLATION IN THE SERIES!!!
A spinoff is bad enough, but the same spinoff five times? They have got to be fucking kidding me.
Funny that they'll make this game 5 times, but won't take another whack at FFVII...
Do you know how much they would make off of a FFVII remake?
I don't think they would make that much money Dan... remember. It's driven on nostalgia so one mistake and the fan will throws them in the bargains bins like FF13.
I do however agree that remaking a Cell phone game on the DS is pretty stupid. And yes, compare to a FF7 remake, they would make more money.
There will be no problem if they don't change anything besides fixing the typos, updating the graphics, and adding some sidequests.
But even if a continuity problem exists, you have to remember that when nerds rage it's because they really care about what they're raging over, and it's almost always just to blow off steam.
There is no way it wouldn't be ground shattering successful.
Still, Nerd rage is a always for something... but they always blow that out of proportions. I still recall people boycotting Sonic 4 because his ears and brow aren't right, the legs don't go as fast and he isn't the right shade of blue. I can say we are not as stupid as not letting go, for example, over one of the character new hairstyle (Some wouldn't) but one wrong mistake like... i don't know. Not putting a revive Aeris sidequest or Removing Yuffie or Vincent or Removing 50% of Sephiroth belt around his body or Removing the Moogle robot under Caith Sith... that sort of stuff can put some people into an overblown Nerd rage. Remember, The community of FF7 fan are also cut down the middle with 50/50 of the love separated between Cloud and Sephiroth. Making one more "Badass" than the other my produce another Nerd rage.
You see, it's easy pissing off fan... because sometime, It's only take a little change.
I can't see that causing any sort of measurable hit to the sales, and even if it did, do you have any idea how many people want this remake? The idea that somehow it wouldn't at least double the return for Square Enix is absurd.
I know... but you don't understand what I'm trying to say. It will make money, I'm willing to bet my balls for it. What i do say is it won't be the next printing money maker you thought it to be.
Look, if it displease the gamer, we will all go to gamestop and return the game. I mean it. I love Spider-Man 2 and thought that the 3 one will be better.
I traded Spider-Man 2 for Spider-Man3. I'm probably the only gamer that will confess this. It sucked and i went back 4 hours later to trade the game back. I didn't get enough to get back my spider-man 2 game. It's the same thing with Final Fantasy 13... did you remember the bargain bin full of it? I do. But what could go wrong? Who wouldn't bought that game?
1: The anti-remake crowd. There are people that hate remake on the principal that they already seen it. Yahtzee is one.

I'm judgmentally bias against it because it's a remake and I think that remake are bloody stupid.
But he's not the only one. That mean that there a bunch of people that won't buy it. Then again, that's just one tiny part right... so who care.
2: The old School gamer crowd. Yeah, yeah... It a old game and they would be interested to see the new design. I concur with you 100% Dan. But theres a fraction (bigger then you think) that will just rent it. They already have the old game and will be bias toward the original. Most of them have celebrated the return of 8bit Megaman. They love sprite, they love the bad graphic that was revolutionary back then.
3: The Hardcore fan crowd. This one is a definitive buy right? Not really. They have such a high expectation that I understand why S.E. didn't remake it. Nothing will be as good to them and that every change will brought them closer and closer to setting Square on fire. This is bloody stupid, in my opinion but it's a fact nonetheless. Sonic got that problem with them too. That's another part of the Buy crowd that go aways.
But what those that leave them? The Fans... or as I like to call them THE DECENT FAN. Group that don't and won't let a little thing get in the way of enjoying it. That and the New gamer Crowd. Yeah, it they would remake it in multiple language(Like most new PS3-X360 game) for some of my friends, i would be able to bring it to them. I know people that would enjoy it but can't understand a word they are saying. That said... there a bunch that won't buy it like i said. For the rest, there a bunch waiting for it, and i'll be lying if I don't say that i would wait in line with my lawnmower doing the "Dead Alive/Brain dead" scene until i get my hand on it. Or just go to my Movie, Audio, Book, Instrument and now videogame shop call ARCHAMBAULT and pick it up because they don't do pre-order and nobody think looking there for new games release.
Bottom line, there not as much that would buy it, but it's definitively do well... not Final Fantasy's Well but normal game well.
