but its the second most useful HM Slave of all time! Next to Lionne (sp?), which was Zigzagoon's evolved for in R/S/E. Lionno also had the advantage of Pick Up, so it'd find items as you went around. And learns a ton of HMs, too.
not sure about Hm's, but I always remembered Rattata as the Pokemon you could teach bubblebeam, thunder, and flash.
Why you would want to, though, is a mystery. It didn't have the stats to use them effectively. Anyway...most Normal types can learn surprising moves from TMs/HMs.

Actually I hate the looks of most Pokemon from the new ones. Only one I like recently was Aaron or something like that.

The battle system that is. Not the pokemon. They get dumber each time.

But the battle system is so good in the 4th gen, that I can't go back to R/B/Y ever again. First gen is now the worst gen, imo.
Tha..that's blasphemy!
Really now? What could you do after beating the Elite Four? Nothing. Except beat them again and catch Mewtwo.

Future generations added a meta-game. From online battles, to the battle frontier (all pokemon are made to the same level, making it more about strategy than team building), to extra areas.

That's opinion.

I personally don't much care for Diamond/Pearl/Platinum at all. They took out my favorite feature...but I hope they get better, which I'm sure they will.

I disagree. Did you really expect there wouldn't be a new generation coming out? I don't know where, but I heard somewhere that they intend to make a total of 7 generations. Seeing as how we're only at the 4th right now, with the fifth still coming out, I suggest we brace ourselves for 3 more 'Bidoof' pokemon.
I knew there'd be another generation of pokemon, but I'm excited that it's for the DS and not the DSi or a new handheld.

I like the games because the battle system has sone of the most simple, yet in-depth, mechanics ever. The story was old before the first generation came out, but it's not really supposed to be the reason you play. Like SSBB, or Borderlands, Pokemon is meant to be played with friends and since the current games created the GTS, I'm hoping to be able to play pick-up games with the new generation.

Oh, and what's this one gonna be called, Uranium and Thorium?
Pokémon Adamantium/unobtanium.
Pokémon God/Jesus.

Yes, yes I was.

Nawwwwwwwwwwwwwwww xD I'm getting annoyed with the names like that. I want my colors back! Red, Blue, yellow!
But then they would have to start bringing in the bullshit colours, like "magenta" and "turquoise".

Friggin GTS, I still can't get my DS to connect to WiFi. And I want a foreign Ditto, dammit! My friends aren't really the reason I play, since they apparently use Gamesharks and i-don't-know-what to get every pokeyman in the game.

On a different note: are there, with exception of DSiWare, any games out there that are DSi-exclusive?

Subjectely maybe, objectively yes. The original games haven't aged well.

How about Pokemon: Black & White? The extra game could be Pokemon Gray!

Meh.

Now I wouldn't mind it if the new pokemon were evolutions for existing pokemon that need evolutions for competative, (e.g. most bug pokemon, the 2 evolution normal type of all revious generations, Mr. Mime, Luvdisc, Bannette, Arbok, Weezing, Persian, Pinsir, Jynx, Farfetch'd, Sableye, Mawile and many, many more! XD)
Could also do with some more ghost pokemon too, as they are fairly limited in choice at the moment.

Also It would be nice if Nintendo could figure out a way to make tournaments, (where you can walk around, prepare, and chat with other contestants), and co-op with a friend, (game should scale itself up level wise, so that players would have to share items, or trade pokemon locally with each other to get by, or team up in double battles, (possibly 2 v 1's as well, (for a tough pokemon thats like 20 levels higher or something (this probably wouldn't work though...))).

I just got a picture in my mind. Pokémon Pukegreen and Shitbrown. A pokémon game for the trey and the 360. Dark, gritty, muscular and badass thirteen year olds wearing a bandana and shooting pokéballs out of their riflewithachainsawattached.

(To clarify, I think pokémon has become a joke xD)

Have you set the WiFi connection settings? As far as "catching-them-all" goes, using cheatery to to it (probably an Action Replay) doesn't compare to actually getting them, but then again, I'm the kind of person who collects things in games.

As far as the DSi exclusives, Foto Fighters is one, along with some other non-imported game that I can't find the title for.

Looks like evolutions of Lucario and Vulpix.
New pokes' may not be the best looking things but you have to admire Nintendo for being so damn creative.

Nintendo's Pokemon Gaming Strategy

Step 1: Take last generation index of pokemon.

Step 2: Go into next room and ingest liberal amounts of LSD.

Step 3: Come back and trace pokemon designs to the best of your ability. You now have your next generation.

Step 4: Change some of the character names to something eleven-year old kids might consider hilarious but everyone else would say "I get it, but it's not funny."
ex: "Oak? Elm!?!?1 Get it!?!?!11one!1"

Step 5: Make the fire-type starter the only vaguely tolerable one BECAUSE NO ONE EVER FUCKING PICKS ANYTHING ELSE.

Step 6: Awkwardly segue in some gimmicky DS minigame which is about as fun and intuitive as removing your eyeballs with a sand-blaster.

Step 7: ???

Step 8: Profit. Lots of profit. ANY intuition these developers ever had committed suicide when they realized they could sell the exact same fucking game a million times and earn tons of money despite having done essentially no work since 1999.

Gold&Silver were probably the last games that had ANY originality. Pokemon designs these days look like a toilet that's gained conciousness. You seriously could just play pokemon stadium on your decomposing N64 and save 50 bucks.

have you played Ruby and sapphire? They are a major buzz kill because without two Gameboyadvances, a link cable, and oen of those plus green or firered, you were shit out of luck to get any good pokemon. Seriously, you know how I get beat on Battlefrontier? Because all of the bullshit original 150 are much better and much more powerful than the third gen. I've never lost to something from the third gen, it's always a gyrados or arcanine or chansey or something like that. I shouldn't have to battle pokemon I'll never ever see unless i spend $100.

And I love how there's a cave that only has zubats, but god help you, if you go to a special event, you get to gloriously catch a... stantler. Fucking stupid cave. And the only way to get a freakin' totodile or chikorita or cyndaquil is by catching 202 hoenn pokemon.

Screw you nintendo. Screw you and the horse you rode in on.

Personally, I think everyone's forgotten about zubat/golbat and how omnipresent they were in the old games and how annoying they were to fight since they confused you all the time. I'm with you on Bibarell looking like an idiot, but I think most people have forgotten about how agrivating some early pokemon were to fight.

GAAAH, I HATE BIDOOF SO MUCH! sorry for the capslock, but i think it was necessary... If Bidoof was the only pokemon that ever existed in real life (as a pokemon), i would personally locate it and kick it in the face.

And my biggest problem with new generations is how over-powered the pokemon are getting... I had a Zangoose (i probably still do somewhere) on an emerald game, it had an adamant nature and its strength/attack was amazing! it got people 'served' more frequently than a fast food restaurant.
Then in the next gen, that was not only topped by say, one pokemon that wasn't legendary, it was totally wiped out by an absolute tonne of pokemon, a lot of those whose strengths aren't even specialised in attack.

its got what i called the "Yu-gi-oh card" syndrome (though i now may call it the pokemon syndrome, as thats more popular and less geeky). This is where the next release of cards have to be better than the rest. I remember one of the early cards being 5-star (meaning you had to sacrifice 1 monster on the field to summon it!) having 1600 attack and 1500 defence... granted, there were 4 stars (no sacrifices necessary) with 1800 attack, but they had a defence of like, 600... Now i've been told there is a 4 star card with a defence over 2500! well that pretty much screws over your opponent doesn't it if they haven't played Yu-gi-oh in years!

Its the same with Pokemon, Charizard is actually kinda sucky by pokemon standards, and when that happens its just... too much.

Yes, there's too many and I wasn't able to catch most of those while playing it periodically over 6 months...
And I sure didn't have more fun in any given 3 minutes of Platinum in those months than the entire playthrough of Half Life 2.

That's why they added Wifi to the newest generation. I've gotten almost all of them with just Platinum and Emerald. And when I get done Soulsilver I'll have 6 at most to get.

I have to disagree with you on the constant powering-up of each generation. each generation has awesome stuff, but sometimes the old hotness becomes new and busted. I don't think Zangoose is as good as an example as, say, Aerodactyl, but I get your point. Zangoose was never that great, though, so I'm surprised that it did so well.

From someone who has kept up with the games, the "dragon" pokemon that you can get have always been powerful and remain so. I'm not going to get into a metagame discussion, though, because that would be boring.
