I have a feeling that this game will suck, but Yuri Lowenthal reprising his role is a big plus. He was one of the best parts of the original trilogy.

And as far as making the events in this game mesh with the rest of the series, I'd have a little more faith. The events between SoT and WW are pretty much up for anybody to imagine, and I wouldn't be surprised if they found a nice way to stuff it in there. This game couldn't possible be worse than the latest Prince of Persia, anyway.

And hey, maybe this game will mean the return of the Dahaka. There were a lot of problems with Warrior Within, but the Dahaka chases were not one of them.

Please, just leave well enough alone. The Sands of Time trilogy is just fine the way it is, just leave it at that. We don't need any "Betweenquels" messing up what is the best trilogy in gaming.

Leaving the original Prince behind was a good idea! Now, if you only had a good story line, characters, gameplay ect it would have been great! Just try again with that, don't churn out crap so you can make a quick buck off the movie.

I was skeptical about this game, maybe hopeful. Now I'm dreading it.

At a recent Ubisoft press event, our colleagues at Joystiq spoke with Michael McIntyre, director of level design for the new Prince of Persia game, The Forgotten Sands, the debut trailer for which can be seen above.
This has to be a different Michael McIntyre to the one that sprang to my mind when I first read this. Surely the comedian doesn't have a sideline designing games...

At this rate we're going to wind up with so many PoP storylines that they'll have to make "Crisis on Infinite Deserts" in 2015 just to resolve it all.

the Prince's fall from relatively carefree, wisecracking royal to the emo hardened warrior of the sequel.
You know, I always wondered why the sudden change in direction to ridiculous teenage angst, scantily clad women, and godsmack.

Then I looked inside the games "behind the scenes" footage and saw who the new guy heading the project was.

Suffice to say, I don't believe in stereotypes, but if you have seen this guy in the interview...
Is there anyone where one can see that?

edit: is this the one you meant? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g6FVHyUguw

Ehh, I'll wait till they get on track with the storyline, that trailer just didn't do it for me, My fondest memories will forever rest in the original trilogy it seems.

Oh god, don't connect your new Crap to Sands of Time. That last PoP game was ABOHORRENT! The original Trilogy was a great action platformer and you ruined it... and now you want to ruin the trilogy.

Also, the reason the Prince became a hardened warrior was specifically cited as the Dahaka- constantly being on the run from a monster that kills anyone around you tends to harden a man.

Since I am probably the only person on the planet that had a lot of fun with the last PoP and actually loved its "moral cliffhanger" ending and really wanted to see what would happen afterwards, I find this news very disappointing. I will not be getting the new PoP game or any other PoP game, unless it continues this story that the designers stopped so abruptly with the promise of a sequel.

/Facepalm.

Victory for imagination. Congratulations Ubisoft for announcing one of the games that I will totally abhor. Tying Sands of Time and Warrior Within... A nightmare come true.

I'm just hoping they quit with that ugly ass art style they had in the last game.
You... don't know anything about the Sands of Time trilogy do you?
You do know that the last game wasn't a part of the sands of time trilogy right?

And you did watch the video, or read the article, thereby realizing that this game is meant as a side-story insert into the Sands of Time trilogy, right?

"Dark secret"--there's the most overused phrase in the history of introductions.

The way I see it this could either be really great or total crap.

... Good Lord. He looks like a cross between Brendan Frasier and an agonizingly constipated Thundercat.

I believe the correct term would be interquel, not "betweenquel".
Though the name is highly satirical.

And nowhere does it say that they won't use an art style similar to that of the last game after all CG trailers don't have to correspond to what we see when playing the game. All of this just makes me wonder how much of a moron you are really. Your idiotic question has absolutely nothing to do with what I was talking about. Which in case you haven't figured it out yet has to do with the graphical representation during gameplay.

So let me get this straight, after SoT the prince looks like someone else and has different powers involving nature, and then regains his appearance and original powers in WW... *sigh* If Superman Blue/Red is any indication, then this is going to suck horribly.

The difference with Superman Blue/Red is that they were intentionally trying something new and it failed, that's fair enough, I can understand that. And with Kingdom Hearts:CoM, that was a direct interquel that was placed between parts 1 & 2 that has relevance to the plot...and it was planned. However with this, they are clearly making a videogame movie, but not wanting to call it a videogame movie, they jam it into an original trilogy that people like.

Ubisoft, don't insult my intelligence by telling me your sweaty Jake Ginahall game is part of the Sands of Time game I played.

Well, I have to say that's it's slightly more encouraging to know that they're not attempting to revive a story that is finished and done with than it is discouraging to know they're attempting to retcon in a whole new adventure into an existing plot. After all, there was an indeterminate period between Sands of Time and Warrior Within where, to put it lightly, quite a lot of shit went down- just watch the opening movie of WW again. This isn't like them trying to cram a story in between WW and Two Thrones (possibly some nonsense about the Prince and Kaileena winding up on some haunted island somewhere before they make it back to Persia), there's real room for a story here.

One thing that does interest me is that if, as the plot description says, the Prince's previously unmentioned brother appears in the story, won't that make the fact that the Prince has no given name a bit awkward? Or is his brother going to be called "Other Prince"?
