Well one reason that I know of that at least a few people bought it was because they simply found the initial system to be too small for comfort. Just saying that it was a thing. :3Zombie_Moogle said:Equal opposite: Why did anyone buy a 3DS XL that already had a 3DS? That makes even less sense. It's a bigger version of a portable console.

Yeah, Sony is usually suspects when it comes to making bad ideas.
You seem to have this sad blind optimism that everything console makers do is for your benefit. There's one single reason Sony makes slimmer models: to reduce production costs. They're using less parts, cheaper parts, better power supplies... all to make the console as profitable as possible. And that's it, period... if you like the look of the slimmer model, good for you! The change wasn't to make you happy though.snekadid said:I just don't understand why they think we want these garbage "slim" systems. They did it with PSone and ps2 and the PSP and they were TERRIBLE! They take out all of the structural support to make it lighter and all you have now is some flimsy piece of hardware where all of the parts are more likely to break from just general use. I flat out refused to buy a slim PS2 when it came out and searched for a old version and I'm certainly not buying the poorly made version of a console that already had poorly made software to start with.
Gee, thanks for posting OBVIOUS things, I would of pointed out that they were in it for the money but I prefer to have some hope for the intelligence of humanity and didn't think it needed mentioning. Instead I pointed out why people shouldn't buy them so that they don't get robbed, but your post helped too I'm sure. I forget sometimes that people weren't around every other time Sony has done this and we complained about cost cutting leading to poor products.Quiotu said:You seem to have this sad blind optimism that everything console makers do is for your benefit. As for the price drop, this PR guy clearly likes to talk too much. 'We are not looking into a price drop on older models at this time' is all he needed to say, but he went and tried to justify the answer and cute it up. And I'm pretty damn sure the PS3 and Vita will get a price drop around the holiday season anyway. They just can't SAY that and ruin sales until Black Friday. They'll do something to try and compete with the WiiU... they're just keeping quiet to not wreck the next 2 months of profits.
So yeah... modus operandi for Sony, nothing to see here. But Sony... tell your PR department to shut up. Less is more in this case.
So it didn't need mentioning... but you mentioned it anyway. So humanity's smart enough to note that Sony slims their products to make more money, but not enough to realize that they didn't just add features to it for the hell of it.snekadid said:Gee, thanks for posting OBVIOUS things, I would of pointed out that they were in it for the money but I prefer to have some hope for the intelligence of humanity and didn't think it needed mentioning.
