Gee, thanks for posting OBVIOUS things, I would of pointed out that they were in it for the money but I prefer to have some hope for the intelligence of humanity and didn't think it needed mentioning. Instead I pointed out why people shouldn't buy them so that they don't get robbed, but your post helped too I'm sure. I forget sometimes that people weren't around every other time Sony has done this and we complained about cost cutting leading to poor products.
So it didn't need mentioning... but you mentioned it anyway. So humanity's smart enough to note that Sony slims their products to make more money, but not enough to realize that they didn't just add features to it for the hell of it.

That's... rather pointless, but I can see where you were trying to go with it. If it's a rant, just call it a rant, and stop trying to be cerebral about it. You're taking this rather personally considering it's just good business practice. Were you this pissed about the DS Lite too? It's not just Sony that does this.
The Dslite fixed alot of problems the basic DS had and is the superior system so i don't know where you were going with that.... How am I taking this personally? I pointed out logical inconsistencies along with the basic human nature that was an issue with this process in the past.

This doesn't work all that well, they cut costs but all it does is boost the second hand system market so gamestop makes more money selling the good systems to people and the only people that buy the slims are people at the bottom of the pile that don't care what they buy as long as it plays the game or movie they want so that by the end the stores are left with slims that no one wants. That happened with the PS2 slim where there were still tons of them left on the shelves and you ended up with grumpy gamestop employees complaining that people keep leaving after he tells them they don't have the original.
