Let me just start by saying I've played all of the Splinter Cells, and I'm a huge fan of the series. I just finished the game on realistic a little while ago, and there are MANY situations where it is FAR easier to sneak past enemies than shoot them. It's good because in this Splinter Cell, you have a choice between stealth and action. For instance, in Chaos Theory you were penalized for almost every mistake, even when a guard sees you a split second before you drive a knife into his spine, and then every gaurd would magically know where you were and come sprinting over and kill you in a split second because the accuracy of your guns made them almost useless in combat. That didn't make sense, but whatever. The previous Splinter Cells were for perfectionists, but they were very frustrating at times. And honestly, who didn't run through all the levels killing everyone after they'd finished it anyway?

Unless I'm playing it with my dad, who probably won't consider stealth until we're stuck.

I just bought this game and LOVED it. I don't know why people are saying that there isn't any stealth. There is, they just took out some stuff. Noise, in the other games, was not fun, it was ANNOYING. Me and my friend have played Splinter Cell games for years, and the co-op is much more interesting and fun than any experience we've had with the old games.
Finally! Someone who doesn't hate this game (I know there are others who aren't hating, but that's not the point). Stealth was always an option. The only big difference is that this time it's actually an option. There are even parts of the game where you can't shoot enemies and good luck just running up to a enemy and taking him out with your fist. In fact there is one mission were they'll lock down If they find you. Also the Mark and Execute requires a melee kill and, again, good luck just running up to a enemy and taking him out with your fist. The multiplayer mode Hunter (basically Terrorist Hunt from Rainbow Six) makes you take out enemies quietly and if you get seen the enemy count increases by 10 (The default is 10, that's 20 total).

With that said, Metal Gear Solid 4 can be played like a shooter so name me one person that complained about that.
