This has real potential to do two things.

1: Reinvent the genre and keep it fresh.
2: Turn the series into a mountain-based version of Tony Hawk.

I'll stick with the early games for now if it's all the same.

As long as it still has big air, insane tricks, and some railgrind areas, I'm all for it.

Ok, that made me laugh so much that I may have honked like a goose a little bit.

Looks like it will be a new take on an old franchise. Hopefully this will actually work unlike other games that I wont mention for fear of a flaming.

This looks very interesting and I will definately give it a look.
Reminds me of my days playing Amped 2. Good fun.

Okay, I'm curious what makes it "deadly." Death isn't new in games. Take the wrong turn, and spill off into the wild unknowns? Sure. But then what? Respawn and try again? The level ends and you have to pick new equipment to "do it right" this time? Or do you lose your snowboarder ala Hardcore mode, and all he has accomplished? If that last one is true, then that is some badass idea magic-making. If the prior stuff is true, then yawn-o-rama.

I like the idea more than the video, actually. That video was all kinds of silly, but in the wrong way.

hmmm I'm interested in this game though for the fact that it sounds interesting
...anyone wanna guess that there's going to be a survival mode where you try and last long and that they're gonna make it multiplayer too

you know the latter one does sound interesting and I would like to see it happen (not like it's going to maybe make a mode where it will)

Yet another franchise gets the fun sucked out of it in favor of gritty realism. I'm surprised they didn't change it to sand-boarding just so the game could be brown like everything else that's coming out.

A gritty, realistic honk, I'm sure.

Wow... Looks like even SSX is getting a gritty reboot [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktNgVmySQ5k]. Let's hope they don't f**k it up.

OMG Finally a new SSX! I've been waiting for ages!

Wow it sounds really good to. SEVENTY fully rideable mountains! And I assume when it says procedurally generated using topographical data from google earth, that means we're getting real life mountains?

Definitely, it was like Call of Duty: Goose Ops.

i'll wait for a demo, i played the schizzle out of SSX tricky and loved every second of it. the level with the big pipes and rails and the big fan was awesome, so i'm willing to atleast pay attention.
I think that was Tokyo. And yes, that level kicked major amounts of ass.

OT: Sounds like its going the "grim 'n' gritty" route. In that case, unless some gameplay shows otherwise, I just don't care anymore.

Sad that we won't get characters like Big Mac or Luther. Also sad to see the color and fun go away. I would love to see a reboot of Tricky for PS3/XBox, especially with a multi=player component.

I am still curious about this although it doesn't sound like any SSX I have ever played

SSX was THE title that convinced oodles of people to get a PS2. Since the first release the gameplay has been going downhill (ha ha) in my opinion.

Personally I hate "darker and edgier" re-imaginings and would like more stylization in the vein of jet set radio.

Aw, see, I thought for sure you'd go with Call of Duty: Black Swan...

Oh, the possibilities are endless. It could have been Call of Duty: Modern Waterfowl.

I don't think we're getting any better than that. Check and mate, good sir. My hat, it is tipped.

yeah, i think that was it.

i forget if that game had split screen or not but if it didn't me and my sister played a race on it and passed the controler for hours on that level.
