Why not change it up? We've been looking at the same thing for years now. I'm happy they're at least trying to revamp it.
Yeah I guess that's one way of looking at it.

I still want a "Random" function added. For times when i cant decide what to play. Hit the random button and one of the many steam games i have installed will launch.

OT: It looks nice but even the current one has its charm...

There's a new steam user interface if you opt to try the beta. It's kinda neat, I was hoping they'd eventually update the look.

I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, but it's cool looking so far.

Anyone else try it? Your feelings?

Edit:

For those of you who can't take the 3 seconds it takes to look for it:

It's in settings, and on that very page, you opt for the new UI beta.
Wow... that's freaking gorgeous. Switching now, thanks for the alert.

Well, I redownloaded it, and I have to say that they've improved it VASTLY since the beta a few weeks ago. My mini-review:

The good:
+UI generally looks sleek and stylish; I much prefer it to the old one.
+I love the mini-preview when you click on a game in the list.
+I also love the grid mode view to admire my collection.
+Excellent idea to include news from sources like Kotaku and Rock, Paper, Shotgun that are relevant to each game.
+I can finally look at achievements easily out-of-game.
+FINALLY there's a Maximize button.
+The best deals pop up on the right of the Store page. That's perfect for the impulsive buyer in all of us.
+Being able to run a game straight from the taskbar.

The bad:
-As of this writing, not all the games have preview pages and just have lame little icons. Penumbra: Requiem and TrackMania were the two games on my list with that problem. If you're going to give a cool page to everything else, the OCD part of me wants you to do it for all games.
-I don't like the washed-out Steam icon in the taskbar. It just makes it more annoying to look at.
-The scrollbar on the store home is annoying to use; I prefer the old "button" system.

As you can see, the good clearly outweighs the bad. Overall, a great job by Valve.

I've been using this for ages, i think its way better the old one. favorite feature so far is that a small list of ur most recentaly/ frequentaly played (having figured out which one it is yet) appears above the options when u right click on the steam icon in the task bar (bottom right of the screen).

I likes it, looks great.
And to everyone complaining about change and how they hate it. You WILL get used to it because it will stay that way, and there's no reason to cry over something you have no effect on just deal with it.

I just don't understand why they did it.
They rolled out the Steam UI update to compete with Blizzard's new Battle.net that's launching with StarCraft 2. From what I've been hearing, the new Battle.net is gonna be "fucking awesome", so my bet is Valve is trying to take some of the marketshare from that before Battle.net consumes it all.

Unfortunately the new UI is bugged, at least for MW2 owners. It forces a re-download of the MW2 multiplayer. It automatically deletes the MW2 multiplayer if you install the new UI so don't do it unless you dont mind downloading MW2 all over again. I did and now Im rather angry.
That didn't happen to me.

OT: It's new, nice and shiny. I especially like the beep sound that alerts you on the PM's now.
