haven't seen anyone mention it yet...so.

trying really hard not to get psyched up for this, but I really liked the slight bits of humor and I really like the idea of you clearing an area, and it getting populated/changed, that was something that always bothered me in the past about rpg's but not many people had ever addressed.

any opinions on this trailer? like what you see? don't? discuss.

Bwahahahahaha! Okay the way the woman said "even racism" is just... amazing. I just can't get over it. *continues video* "following your heart"... Oh god damnit my sides are hurting from laughing so hard.

Anyway, this trailer is pretty neat. I was already expecting a majority of this though, since it was in the previous game. I do imagine the whole "clear an area and people move in will" will grow rather tedious when I have to walk a hundred miles to buy a sword because I can't clear an area of monsters. Sadly, this game may have to wait. I want my decisions to carry over and my PC can't run this, so my only option would be PS4. So unless they announce a way to craft your story for consoles, I'll be skipping a buy for now.

yeah I honestly did laugh and find this part a bit cringey, but besides that I liked the content of the trailer and really makes me want to explore the world and story.

Well it's not everyday that you see war crimes, religious fanactism and rascism listed as features. I salute whoever is in charge of CD Projeckt's twitter. They are a brave soul indeed.

Not going to lie, speaking as someone who is not really a morning person that vampire maybe my new favourite character ever.

The game looked crazily beautiful. Sadly I am not a fan of these type of games but I hoped that it is successful.

Yeah, I hope we get to hang out with him in the game in some manner. I wouldn't want to have to kill the guy.

So we're all following the style of that GTA V trailer? Not an issue, I fucking loved that trailer.

"Drink with me ye cocksuckah."

I work with a polish guy and after hearing that all I can say is- Yep, this game's Polish.

Ah, those monster designs! Clear Eastern European folklore influence, not only juuuuuust creepy enough but pretty god damn interesting to look at.

Oh that Vampire, I laughed a little but on a more serious note, are we gonna see some deconstruction of classic monster archetypes?

Wow, I'm not a fan of underwater segments (just like timed missions, escort missions, fetch quests and all the like) but the swimming segment looks absolutely fucking beautiful.

And the combat, seems like they're going with the way they went in the Witcher 2. Thing about that combat is it *looks* fast and in depth and advanced but after a lengthy play you realize it's actually pretty basic and slow. You NEED very good animation to pull that off and keep it interesting, and judging from the animation I'm seeing here it looks like they had that down pat.

As for the Child of Prophecy bit? That's Ciri, without a doubt. I always liked Ciri's origin story. As reward for lifting a curse Geralt demanded from Duny that which he had but didn't know he did, Duny's lover Pavetta then announces that she's pregnant. It was actually a twist I never saw coming.

But as with all trailers that seem too good to be true we have to ask ourselves, how much of it was smashed together just for the trailer and will probably only be a quest reward in the game? That whole clearing out monsters in order to get people to inhabit an area *sounds* very "quest reward" to me.

I think thats very likely. In the books one of Geralts closest friends and one of the best characters was a Vampire. He died sadly, but it would be cool to get another Vampire buddy. This is actually mentioned by Dandellion at the party of Shani in the first Witcher game.
The higher Vampires in Sapkowskys Lore, which are the human looking ones that aren't just mindless monsters, clash quite a bit with the fantasy stereotypes.
They don't need to drink blood, it just increases their strength and is fun for them like alcohol is for humans. They are a completely seperate race like dwarves or elves and are born as vampires and can't turn other people into vampires.

I don't know if I'm going to pick this one up or not. I've always had a love/hate thing with the Witcher and I don't know that I want another padded open world game. This is reminding me of DA:I.

The vampire bit was hilarious.

That isn't Triss. The developers seem to have thing for redheads.

I am getting more hyped up, I already have it pre-ordered (GeForce GPU bundle gave it to me for free) and so I'm jumping into Witcher 2 now to get myself into it, so far I really am enjoying the second one, at least the storytelling.

I really have good expectations for The Witcher 3 but I don't want to get TOO hyped.

I thought getting TOO hyped was the point, if the past twenty years of games marketing is any indication.

How are we supposed to be persuaded into buying things months, sometimes years in advance without accepting the overwhelming power of hype? What are we, mere gamers, supposed to do in the face of a vast money machine besides succumb to it?

Let us all bow before hype and thank it for having the kindness to allow us near it's royal presence.

A nice, tightly woven story to draw the series to an epic conclusion is all I ask for. Not horse racing, ball-juggling, gimmicky bollocks to drown out any real quality. I don't need a virtual life to live, I have a real one and can do stuff like popping down to the local pony trecking place down the road if I want to race bobbos.

By all means pop some of the totally unnecessary crap in there for the COD/FIFA drongos who need something simple to satisfy their child-like minds, but please don't do it at the cost of the deep, meaningful and powerful story itself, and don't drown it out with tat, options or filler either.

Racism, war, magic.........whatever works, just make it good and make that Wild Hunt feel as significant as it should be.

Mass Effect 2 & 3, Dragon Age 2 & I - all of them left me unsatisfied as their beautiful first games teased and pleasured me like a bewitching angel, and the sequels deliverd nothing more than the worst hand job I've ever had. TW3 needs to deliver the epic awesomeness it's prequels have hogged us up for.

Thanks

The developers have already stated that there will be a way to push past choices in to Witcher 3 on PS4 and Xbox One. Not via a save game import but a conversation early in the game.

This is from this past Jan:

"According to the developers, at the beginning of the game Geralt will interact with a character (possibly Dandelion, but the name wasn?t mentioned to avoid spoilers. It was only said that he?s ?a guy?) who will sing the tale of Geralt?s past deeds, and the player will be able to correct his statements, effectively deciding how past choices made in The Witcher and The Witcher 2 are going to affect the story of the new game."

I hope so too, but I really doubt it.
If you watch the first 15 min it's still super awkward (well awful) roll/slash combat. So that's not fixed at all.

I, for one, hope they fix the stealth. I found Witcher 2's stealth missions unplayable because I kept sticking to things and being dragged into LOS no matter which direction I was trying to go. I'll wait to hear back from people who have played it methinks.

Holy cow, even racism? This game has everything!

I kind of snickered at that, but its nothing new, and its certainly nothing to brag about. Tolkien tackled fantasy xenophobia decades ago. Stop acting like its a new idea, fantasy writers. Medieval people were racists.

Besides, having one white dude be a dick to another white dude hardly qualifies as deep racial commentary.

It's pretty though, and I laughed my ass off at the vampire.

They already said there will be no stealth at all, and just what about that combat seem bad? What would you want to be to not be bad? I'm honestly asking here because I can't see how anyone can say that it looks awful.
