...It's a movie based off of a video game, the outcome should be as clear as day. Besides, it's a set linear movie based off of a game with emphasis on choice, no matter what it does it's going to piss people off. If Shepard is Paragon or Renegade, the choices Shepard will make, Shepard's personality, Shepard's gender, Shepard's LI...this isn't going to end well.

Movies based on pre-esxisting video game elements never go well, though a couple are passable. I don't doubt this will be a disaster, I just wonder how many people even care anymore, considering how much of the endgame left fans displeased with Mass Effect overall.

It's a movie based on a video game, so it's hard to get excited either way.

Angela Bassett would make for the most badass Shepard ever.

What I'm saying is, if it isn't Bassett I'm not going to watch the film. I've got my standards.
Oooh, I'd love her. I'd also love to see Michelle Yeoh or Sophie Okonedo as FemShep.

This movie will bomb -- as in flop.

Let's be honest; the Mass Effect story arc is a tired trope in sci-fi. I've only played the second game, but reviews tell me that it was the best of the three. The Only problem is that even ME2 did not have very strong characters. That's right, there were no strong characters.

War of the Worlds and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer had the same plot, and were heavily promoted; but they were not very good, and the latter had a disappointing reception. WOTW tried humanizing the experience, but that only made the plot crawl through 2+ hours. Fantastic Four tried to be everything Summer Block Buster, but ended up being a waste of my time.

If the writers are smart, they'll abandon the epic, meandering story and let the imagination of sci-fi work its effect on the viewer, like in Star Trek. The only problem is that ME does not have a generation of imagination and an assortment of characters to work with.

Otherwise -- and this is what I'm convinced will happen -- we're going to have a hybrid Bourne/Transformers series: static, one-dimensional characters fighting government-alien conspiracies while trading tired one-liners and running through battle fields in slow motion.

No...no...no no no......nooooo....

This is not...*sighs* You can't take a game like Mass Effect and make it into a movie. Not whenever the game works totally on player customization. Anyone who likes Mass Effect is just going to sit in the theater and think "that's not MY Shepard, my Shepard is SOOO much better. Hell that doesn't even look like the default Shepard!"

And I know that I, as a woman who loves her femshep, is just going to sit there thinking "Of course they used a maleshep," because you just KNOW it's going to be a man in Shepard's role.

Honestly, I've been racking my brains for a decent shepard. Currently I only think: Charlize Theron as femshep.
that (and really making shepard female at all) is simply to awsome to ever happen
