Instead of censoring the world around them, why don't parents parent their own fucking children! Seriously, who lets a preschooler free-roam on the internet unsupervised anyway?

Parents have no sense these days...
That's about the 1000th time I heard someone saying that. I doubt parents actually listen. But keep trying!

OT: Nickelodeon, you are WROOONG. CCFC is RIIIIGHT.

Meh. Wait until the next "crisis." Then these superb examples of human intelligence will be distracted, and the kiddies can have their games. Honestly, I fail to understand the aversion to sex that our culture displays. Can anyone explain to me why the human body is morally unacceptable to the world? Either the kids can see it young and laugh about it then, or get older and suddenly realize that they really want sex, and laugh about it where it can annoy even more people. Or be exposed young, mention it with a level head, and be laughed at by all their peers who saw some tit on TV last night and have it on the brain as their favorite memory ever.

This is like stopping someone linking to Wikipedia because therevare articles about sex and porn.

In other words, it's completely stupid and pointless.

Anybody else find it ironic that two of the children in that pic are holding letters that start a racial slur for their ethnicity?

You know...I actually agree with the advocates for once. It's not like they're trying to ban AddictingGames or wanting them to take down any game unsuitable for kids, and I do find it a bit strange that Nickelodeon would indeed put a link to a site with that sort of content.

No. It's more like people stopping Wikipedia from linking to a website where children - You know what? No. I don't care if you're too dense to see how that comparison isn't accurate. It's your silly, misinformed opinion that you could not, for one moment, defend.

You just keep drinking that kool-aid.

I'm not seeing it. Why don't you go ahead and explain it to the rest of the class?

Wait wait wait... Why are "Children as Young as Preschoolers," on the net without supervision? Regardless, content filters aren't hard to set up.

Also, usually these games require some ability to read, an ability that I don't see aforementioned children possessing.

So the kids are already allowed unmonitored internet access, and NOW the parents are worried?
Ahhh takes me back to when I was young. By the time I was eleven, I knew how to erase my history so my parents didn't know what sites I visited. Yeah my parents let me use the internet unsupervised, but they would always check my history after using it. By god parents are stupid for thinking that they can control their kid on the internet, in fact if you have the internet in your house, you might as well not even try ton censor anything, because the internet is anarchy at its best where you can find anything, and hiding it all is just a click away. Its even easier now that we have private browsing modes such as the "incognito window", so now we don't even have to bother to cover up our tracks online.

It doesn't seem unreasonable to ask websites like Nick and Nick Jr. to take down those links, because those websites really are intended for children. Heck, I remember back when I used to go on Nick.com, back before I was allowed full access of the Internet.

Putting links like that in a website intended for children is rather like running trailers for "Die Hard", "Saw" and "The Terminator" right before "Elmo in Grouchland". It's irresponsible. The CCFC has a case.

I won't lie, they actaully have a legitimate point this time as opposed to "Save the children!" touchy "censor anything and everything" bullshit-o behaviour.

But don't they have that tiny little thing in bold print that says: "We are not reponsible for the content of the websites we link to." Or some stuff like that.

If so, then the CCFC has got nothing on them.

I dunno the previous generation seems just as bad about that, maybe not the political correctness but they act like everything sucks now and things were way better when there were fuel shortages and the threat of nuclear annihilation around every corner.

Personally I think there are way too many of these parental guardian groups or whatever they are. What we actually need is either responsible parents or a standardized test to see if people are parenting material. Given the fact the world is overpopulated it can only be an improvement.

And yes I do realize I just essentially backed eugenics but it's hard not to see some people are far too stupid or irresponsible to raise children.
Lol, yes! WE are the perfect generation.
Well that's not quite what I meant. It's more that a lot of people, especially media pundits, have rose-tinted their childhoods so much (or in some cases completely made shit up about their pasts) they've lost touch with all reality, so that suddenly the present is awful, the future is getting worse, and the past was perfect. Except they were probably told the exact same things by their elders at one point or another, so it's more that the byproducts of our time will be just as bad but it's not like everything was sunshine and roses in, say, the 1970s.

Actually it's happening allready.I could elaborate with bringing an example and you'd see everyone here going bananas about it (maybe even you). The next generations are even more screwed.

In a couple of decades people will be living in fishtanks. lol

Oh I have a idea!

Parents, DON'T LET YOUR FUCKING PRESCHOOL KIDS USE THE INTERNET HOW THEY WANT. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO RAISE YOUR KIDS NOT THE COMPUTER/TELEVISON!

Good that I got that out of my system.

Last sentence = pure win!

Are they really interested in that stuff at that age? Or maybe it was just me that wasn't?

Pff... As a parent with some experience with this thanks to a 2 year old who loves to explore what the buttons do while I try to get some house chores done when I'm not looking so before I know it she is changing the password on the laptop to some random set of characters, you simply can't monitor their adept fingers, quick feet, and inquisitive minds every second of every day - the best I can hope for is that she remembers all the little lessons I teach her so she doesn't get badly hurt while she is learning.

We've been to NickJr.com before so she could play Diego Animal Rescue or Ni Hao Kailan stuff monitored simply because of the aforementioned tendency to hit the windows menu key or right click and bring up a host of source code and settings related stuff, so I feel for those parents that might have had an older kid who doesn't want to be treated like a kid being babied all the time, so they leave em alone for a sec to find later they found their way to some internet adult content by way of a ad on a children's site.

What makes something adult content in my eyes? Anything an adult would have some trouble explaining to some stranger's kid (because who do you think they are going to tell what daddy or mommy said to?) why adults find this or that entertaining but forget to mention it took perhaps anywhere from 5-30 (or maybe never) to mature to a point where we don't feel a need to bring the subjects up just to feel rebellious and cool.

I'm going to take the approach as a parent of not sanitizing my kid's world but rather try to prepare her for it in smaller, easier to handle doses so hopefully there is nothing to rebel against later, only talk about openly and honestly so I know she is safe, healthy, content, and found some bit of hope and joy in life. She seems fairly happy so far, so I hope I am doing alright.
