Vrex was always my nickname, ever since I tried to spell 'Trex' on my first gamer account, hit the wrong letter and decided I liked this name.

However I did get called 'Sponge' a lot back in high school because I refered to myself as 'a sponge of useless information'.

Finally, though my human name is James people often just called me Jamie.

Hmm. I always wondered how you came up with that, I just never asked. And now I know.

Jim, or Jimmy as I look quite a bit like my grandfather who is called that. Neither of our names are Jim.

I've got two
Stu, because its just the first 3 letters of my name
Psycho Trekkie, because I'm a psychotic Star Trek nerd, and they just love point that out (though I'd be lying if I said I didn't do that myself).

Eh, girls don't really get cool nicknames. <_< I just get cutesy variations on my name that I'm too polite to reject. =P

Although, that being said, a group of people I'm sort of friends with basically just know me as, "Hot Random", which is kind of self-explanatory. oO And flattering. =D Essentially, it boils down to the fact that, even though they didn't know me, they let me crash at their place, because they found me nice to look at.

The only other thing that comes close to 'nicknames' like that are really just inside jokes between my friends and I, which we all use to refer to each other, and we've completely outgrown most of those.

Diesel.
I'm a firefighter with the US Air Force and we had to send one of our P-19 crash response trucks overseas. One of the requirements to put a truck on an aircraft is that the truck needs to be at 1/2 tank of fuel or less. Our P-19 was FULL! The plane was leaving in just 3 hours so we couldn't just let it run to burn off fuel. That would take too long. so I cut a small section of an old garden hose and tried to siphon it into a fuel can. I had never done this before and ended up drinking a few mouth fulls of diesel. The worst part is that it didn't work so I had to stick my arm down in the tank with the hose and pull one end out quickly to get it to flow. So you can guess the name came from the smell of diesel on my uniform and breath.
But usually I just tell people its cause I'm just a big guy.

On my high school track team, I made rather spectacular jumps that ended with a large explosion of sand in the jump pit. Coincidentally, I was named "Splosion Man".
A second nickname was "Otter" since a diver mistook me for an otter since it was raining, i was a wearing a dark brown wet suit, and my back was turned.

Storm. While studying abroad in England I joined the lacrosse team and ended up lighting some other player up (our team wasn't very good, and my experience in the states made me the best on the team). They started calling me storm, short for Bryanstorm, which is a play on the Arctic Monkeys song Brianstorm. That took more explaining than I thought it would.

Apparently, one of my school years, some immature dumbass figured out that my last name rhymes with "weiner" (My last name is Werner by the way...), and so he decided to start calling me as such.

But, he was held back for nearly 3 years and was still in the 6th grade, and I would always remind him each day he'd bring his stupid shit to the table...

Also, whenever I was living in an extremely ghetto apartment complex, I somehow got the nickname "Skittles"... Not sure how that came up, but whatever..

I earned my nickname by growing a scruffy short beard and a massive amount of fuzzy hair in 8th grade. I looked a little like the afro guy from superbad, it was wat i was aiming for

I only give people nicknames when I'm being condescending towards them.

Think you caught all that, Sparky?

I myself don't have any nicknames among people I like, because my name is like three letters.
It's almost impossible to give me a nickname that doesn't add more to it.
The awful M, it suits you perfectly.

OT: I have been called "german" because of my blonde hair,

I personally get called MudFlap, why you ask? Because i once had a massive mullet that resembled the Mudflap of a car.
That has at time been slightly modified to things like: Flappachino, Flaptain Cook, Fanny Flaps and that just about covers it..... Oh wait i generally just get called Flap for short, i kind of like it really.

Jessicus Maximus the Third, because of my incredible Gladiator performance.
It's so long nobody really uses it though...
