Wait a minute..... there was a "nightmare" thread about 3 hours ago. There's a lucid dreaming thread on the first page.

I once had a nightmare that people made pointless repeat threads and sucked all the life out of this wonderful site.

Fuck, its coming true.
What?! But i searched and found nothing!

Okay, so i haven't had a nightmare for a loooong time, but i had one this night.

It was about me and my to cousins (both boys) We were at this obviously haunted mine. Someone told us to go in there, i don't know why, but we did. We drove in there in a mining cart.
Suddenly we started hearing noises, like "GRAALRDDDLLRDR" and then!
A werewolf. A big werewolf with a long tongue and to arms, that were like the tongues of a centuar from Fallout 3 (i know, gEEEk!), except it had only 1 on each arm instead of 3.
Then it started chasing us, first it got my cousins, so i were alone. It was dark. THEN! Suddenly i saw this werewolf head right in front of me, screaming! And i woke..

Is this an awesome film plot or what?!
So, now to the question. Have you had any nightmares recently that you wanna tell us about?
...... This sounds like the making to a Hentai.... unless you are a guy... then... This sounds like the making of a Fangirl's Fanfic of you...

My worst nightmare is really material based... I have money to buy something I want, money magically finds a way to leave my possession when I go to get it from my topic to buy dream item of the week... and I wake up grumpy...

I once had a nightmare where I was in a strange old theatre-like place and there were some people I knew and some people who I was told I knew. Nobody semed quite real (As in some people looked like strange, contorted monsters, like a rat with chery red eyes, short men with long heads and evil faces), also they acted like I wasn't really there) and the whole time this voice kept whispering in my ear, he spoke mostly plain-english, spare a few wierd words which I still understood and he seemed to be normal, and considering how wierd the people were acting he was welcome relief right? Suddenly, everyone just gets up and leaves, I try to follow my friend up a ramp but he just outruns me. I'm all alone and this voice has gradually been becoming more evil until it finally starts threatening me. All alone I told it to shove it or something, then it said something like "Well floobah goo, to you!" (I think I told it to uh, floobah goo *Must be some kind of insult in crazy land*), then suddenly, I fall to the ground, I can't move at all, then (And this is the bit I never forgot), two skeletons with dinosaur heads come out from around the corner at the top of the ramp and slowly come towards me, I try to scream but no noise comes from my mouth, then thankgod I woke up.

I don't have nightmares. I have lucid dreams, which means a modicum of control over them. And while it was by no means a nightmare...I did have a dream recently that was the saddest thing I've ever imagined. Like, Pixar sad times 12. I woke up with tears down my cheek. I took me a few minutes to realize that things that sad were not and could not be real.
You can't just say that and not tell us about the dream. I demand you tell me about the sad dream!
Oh, hey, it's you again. What's up, man?

Alright, since you wanted to know, I'll tell you. But I'm gonna warn you--it is really, really sad. Pretty cool, at times, but sad nonetheless.

So I'm walking through this mountain pass, everything's all green, and growing, it's a bit jungle-ish, but still a mountain. I'm with a group of friends that I've made in my wanderings, from across the continent and then some. We're all on a quest of some kind, seeking something unspecified in the dream. We come to a plateau, or the summit of the mountain, now covered in snow. There's a house up here, and a playground. We introduce ourselves to the housekeeper, and after all the introductions, he invites us to play on the playground and rest at his house for the night before we continue our long journey. We take him up on the offer.

Now, while we're playing on the playground, it's suddenly attacked. There are explosions, and a group of people dressed in blue suits and green tax visors come in and round up and take away most of my party, except for me, and two friends--one, a medium height blonde I'll call Amanda, and the other, a medium height brunette I'll call Karina, for naming purposes. Both are attractive, but not in that raunchy way, but in that just flat out pretty kind of way. They don't glitter or glow, aren't hot, but are undeniably attractive, you get me? They're both fantastic personalities, always cheerful and happy, even when shit is going down. Anyways.

So Karina, Amanda, and I pick up our gear, and we head down the other side of the mountain, in the direction the attackers were last glimpsed seen going. We're walking for awhile, down the mountain, and snow gives way to a rainforest-type place, one where there's a creek flowing nearby, there's wildlife about, but there's still some leftover snow on the branches of the trees. We come to a spiral staircase, and we head down, into a small clearing in the forest with some small snow piles here and there.

We're all joking again, talking about how the others will probably scold us for taking too long to come get them, and about food and friends and all the little things around that are just beautiful. Trust me, no lack of natural beauty around--birds, frogs, water drops dripping off tree branches and leaves, the lot. It's a nice point, everything is going alright. We're all smiling, happy, certain. Suddenly, there's this large explosion, and we are all thrown back into the forest, in different directions. After a moment of confusion, deafness, and that blinding flash associated with an explosion right before your eyes, I get up and look about. I find Amanda, we're both a little scratched up, some bruises and cuts here and there, but overall, we're both alright.

We immediately look about for Karina, we search the whole clearing, nothing. "Where is she? Karina!" I yell out, trying to find her. Amanda grabs my arm, and points to a small patch at the base of a large tree several feet away. There, at the foot of a tree slightly scarred by fresh burns, in a puddle of water that used to be snow, were three pieces of paper, all still smoldering at the corners.

Two are common playing cards, the 7 and the 8 of hearts, right next to each other, floating face up in the puddle. The other, though, is an old comic strip--or most of it, rather. It's one and a half panels of an old Calvin and Hobbes comic, with both of them sitting beneath a tree. In the first panel, half of which is missing, bordered by a blackened char line, Calvin is asking his friend what he thinks heaven will be, to which Hobbes replies, in the second panel:

"Heaven is a big field, on a warm day, with a nice cross breeze to keep you cool. There's a picnic blanket laid out under a big shade tree, and all around you are your favorite babes you missed in life, holding tuna sandwiches, and giving you kisses." (It is a Calvin and Hobbes strip, of course, so at least the dream is in character).

As I looked down at the strip and cards, I realized that my picnic in heaven already had someone waiting for me, tuna sandwich in hand, smile on her pretty face.

It was at this point I woke up, tears on cheek, eyes open, startled and scared. It was a full minute, at least, before I realized that I was not in a beautiful clearing where a beloved friend had just been wiped from existence mere feet away from me, with me powerless to do anything. And crap if it doesn't bring mist to my eyes remembering it. It's a good mist, though.

Wow

I can't believe people can have dreams like that, and then are able to recall them in such detail. That was an interesting read.

I have a reoccuring dream where I can fly and I get very upset because I'm not saving the sea turtles from a burning building fast enough to help them all.

I think it's from watching to much Capt. Planet.

I sometimes have a dream in which I get the greatest game ever! It's incredibly hyped, I've pre-ordered it and have been waiting ages for it. It finally comes and actually surpasses the hype. It's the greatest game I've ever played, and I love it.

Then I wake up and realise that there was no new game.

I then feel sad.

The same kind of thing happens, though instead of games it's in a romantic way but that's sappy and unoriginal so let's skip that.

Oh pshaw, that's not that sary, the scariest I've ever had, well... It was more fun than scary. Anyway there was a meadow. And nine pandas. Basically they were all trying to kill me. So I ran around and hid in a dairy for a bit.

Eventually I got trapped in an attic and they mauled me to death, but it was fun while it lasted.

The dream was scary to you because, since it's taking place in your brain it has direct access to the emotion of fear. It could've been a dream about ice cream, if your brain had told you it was scary, you would've been scared. So while you may have found the dream scary, most of us can't even grasp exactly what you experienced. Not to mention, how would that be a plot for a movie? There was enough there, possibly, for one plot point in a movie. But it certainly wouldn't have been an original plot by any means. And that kind of scare has been done to death in film, so it wouldn't be all that scary on camera either.
True, I had a nightmare about apple juice.

I was in a lodge I stayed in once at lake Tahoe in Nevada, and I picked up some apple juice off the table, then everything went slo-mo, I spilt the glass and screamed myself hoarse. Woke up terrified.

Had orange juice that day...not apple...

There was more detail than that. I could see individual leaves on trees, patterns on clothes, snowflakes in the air, screws on the playground...And there's details of the story itself, dialogue, interactions, flirts, jokes, and much, much more.

Like I said--lucid.

I noticed the wall o' text.

Sorry about that. I wish I could dream lucidly. They say it comes easy if you write a dream journal, but I'm late in the mornings as it is, stopping to write "dear diary" would do more harm than good

It's even easier than that. Make a note of one aspect of it, then try and recall as much as you can about it later, when you have time. Even without writing, it's pretty easy--just recount to yourself everything you remember as you're getting ready to leave the house. It does take a bit of practice to be able to understand that you have a teensy amount of control over your dreams, but first you have to realize that you are dreaming, mid dream. After that, it's up to your id-fueled imagination to come up with whatever it will.

i have both nightmares and lucid dreams. the lucid dreams are wonderful, but often hard for me to recall, as are the nightmares.

strangely, the things i consider nightmares are either about my normal routine, or really abstract. one particular one that i remember is one where i am standing in a field of bright yellow cartoon cows. i have no idea why it fills me with such horror, but it really does.

You're at work alone, when you suddenly hear the copy machine start up. You walk out to take a look at what's going on and see several copies filling the tray. Picking up one of the pieces of paper you discover that it is a copy of a picture depicting you sitting in your office chair, dead, with your eyes torn out and your throat cut. The others are the same picture, but taken from increasingly bizarre angles.

There is no original picture in the copy machine. In fact, the machine has been out of toner for a week.

I read stuff like this, and as a reader, I end up picturing this kind of thing in my head while I'm attempting to sleep.

i don't know why this was a nightmare, but i had one were i was walking down an ally(original ,right.) and i hear a noise behind me and i turn to see...Darth Vader stalking me. so i turn to run away( the nerd in me telling me he'd kill me in a second.) but when i turn around, the people from C.S.I(the show, obviously.) are there blocking my exit. at that point my conscious mind surfaced to get me the hell outta there.

The best movie plot nightmare I've had is a great idea for a short film.

It starts with a picturesque neighbourhood, just like the suburban streets of any town or city. But a small explosion destroys a house down the block and soldiers begin parachuting out of the sky and coming in on jeeps and troop carriers and such. Before long they're shooting up the nighbourhood, a couple of explosions are seen in the distance, and the people are futilely running for their lives. The camera cuts to several instances of people (including children) getting shot and killed by these soldiers. There is also a scene in which a soldier is dragging a 20-something woman by her hair with a grin on his face before she is shot and killed by another soldier who proceeds to tell the previous soldier not to touch them "Because they're scum."

After about 2 or 3 minutes of this, the camera pans out and you see the whole town suffering this fate, smoke billowing from everywhere and explosions seen and heard all over, but the camera continues to pan out.

Suddenly it cuts to a young kid, maybe 8 or 10 years old holding a bottle of mouthwash that proudly boasts on the label: "Kills 99.9% of germs".

Fade out, roll credits, end film.

I had this very vivid and detailed dream while taking a power nap before work a couple of years ago and it has stuck with me. It's become a life goal of mine to get this filmed before I die.
You should play World In Conflict.

I had one when i was a kid, it still scares the shit out of me. It involved a lot of saw-like self mutilation. I was like 8, dude.
