familys fault for letting an impressionable kid play that game. Kids fault for being a moron. Game producers fault for not stalking every single person who buys game and makes sure no1 is injured by playing it.

It's a shame that the child died. My thoughts are with him and his family.

Concerning the video-game aspect of this story, it doesn't make much sense. As was stated in the article, jumping off of a roof has nothing to do with the game. Even a 9-year-old knows that if you jump off of the top of a building, you will most likely die. Many kids experiment with plastic bag parachutes, but when I did it, it was from my sofa, and I was 5. This kid was 9 and did it from the top of a building. I have to say that maybe that kid had some undiscovered mental problems. That's the only explanation I can think of.
Hell, I did it off a dumpster. I think we have all done something along those lines, it's just we all looked at it realistically and learned from our mistakes(I know I did). It just sucks that the kid didn't think before he leapt.

Damori Miles died after jumping from the roof of his 13-story apartment building with a parachute he'd fashioned from string and a plastic bag.
Alright. I may have felt some sympathy if a) it was a normal detached house
b) .....well I had a witty comment but I guess
we're in a recession.

I feel bad for the kid's family, but this is an act of stupidity... You can't go blaming video games for all this. I guess if you can't get real answers, people will tie the tragedy to whatever comes along.

I've never seen a wrestler use a parachute... I've been watching wrestling for like 15 years now.

so here's a kid that oviously can't tell reality from games (or TV, but that's speculation*), and they leave him alone on the 13. floor. not having taught him that jumping out the window is bad. buying him a wrestling game. that game is for ages 16+ for crying out loud. edit: that's the ESRB rating

(*: a 3-year-old jumped into the TV because of a chocolate commercial. http://lustich.de/bilder/zeitungen/in-den-fernseher-gesprungen/ btw,it's a german newspaper if you wonder why you can't understand a word ;-) )

"The game is intended for teenagers 13 and up and that nobody in the game uses parachutes or jumps off buildings."

Exactly. The boy was a dumbarse for thinkin it would work. Like previously stated, it is natural selection. His friend who is telling the story does seem to jump to SDvRaw. I've played many wrestling games, as I am a wrestling fan sadly, and I know jumping off a 13 story rooftop with a plastic bag is nowhere near ANYTHING that is in ANY wrestling game.

As a gamer and a wrestling fan, I get my share of stupid reasons for kids killing themselves/eachother. Everyone wants to blame something else. The parents had left their 9 year old son with his sister, while his sister was not paying attention, the door on the roof was broken, why not blame plastic bags? Even that would make more sence than video games. If anything, this was "immatating" (or rather pretending to) be a sky diver. His idiot friend brings in SDvRaw, and the press "have a field day".

And yes, parents DO need to enforce video game ratings, atleas until a certain age. When kids/teens are 14, they can handle most of the things in M games. However, a 9 year old should not be playing a Rated T game if the parents and the sister are not going to watch out for him. But I think video games in general are unrelated to this.

doesn't jumping off something look exactly the same everywere? o_O

They could just as easy claim that he was a friend that jumped off something. Why does he necessarily need to be imitating anything???

Natural selection: It works!
Obviously it doesn't; you're still here.
Burgermann says "So are you. Whats your point."
To paraphrase the almighty Jules, "Empathy, ************. Do you speak it?"

Humans are social animals, and we work in groups. The ability to empathise with one another helps that... the lack of empathy hinders that. Natural selection should, if it works according to social Darwinist "theory", filter that out.

To everyone who came up with a lame "joke" about this kid's death, well, here's hoping someone shits in your loved-ones' casket when the time comes so you can feel what that sort of disrespect is like on the receiving end. (Assuming, of course, you're actually capable of forming emotional bonds with someone else.)

I feel sorry for the family but our gene pool is probably better off that this kid didn't make it reproduction age.

He jumped off the roof of a building. 13 stories up. I mean, yeah it's sad that he died, but come on...natural selection, right? Plus, his family couldn't have raised him that well. I would think that most people at that age would have the sense to not jump off the roofs of tall buildings. Plus, the fact that he had time to make a parachute suggests that he was left unattended for some time, it's not like he just darted out the door when his caretaker wasn't looking.

So he was not imitating wrestling then?
A wrestling VIDEOGAME is to blame, not wrestling itself.
GAWD! :(
