Something like this is for parents who know nothing about gaming. Any six year old would be happy with an old SP and the thousand games out for it that you could get at any yard sale, if we all don't have one in a draw somewhere already.
Well see, the very existence of the 2DS brings the sales numbers of the 3DS into question. You don't create a cheaper version of a product just for shits and giggles.TehChuckles said:All these people saying the 3DS isn't selling well but not providing numbers.
I think this is a great move by nintendo. it does seem like a more kid friendly model without the moving bits and bobs. though I do worry for the LCD screens. maybe it's bundled with a clip on cover?
You have no idea that the 3DS has been outselling PS3 and Xbox 360 for at least 2 months now. Nintendo should sue some of these liars that say it's not selling well, doesn't it count as slander? Sure, it had a rough patch in its early days, but it's more than bounced back from that now, selling really well in every region, and the quality games are selling well as well, Animal Crossing New Leaf sold over 5 million in little over a month. Bring in the fact that we have the 6th Gen of Pokemon games coming this year, and that's the final nail in the Vita's coffin.WeepingAngels said:Well see, the very existence of the 2DS brings the sales numbers of the 3DS into question. The DS had the moving bits and bobs and Nintendo never felt the need to release a cheaper, less moving parts version.
I have read somewhere that the 3DS is doing great in Japan but not so great elsewhere.
Still no numbers.Ghostface2206 said:You have no idea that the 3DS has been outselling PS3 and Xbox 360 for at least 2 months now. I dunno, I have a feeling they had this planned from day 1, and have left it so long to release it because all the parents who weren't sure about the price/the health aspect of the 3DS have now fallen into one of two camps - 1)No it's too expensive/will melt your eyes so you can't have it or 2)Sod it, go on then, Merry Christmas.WeepingAngels said:Well see, the very existence of the 2DS brings the sales numbers of the 3DS into question. Let me just add that the 3DS library is superior to the DS in my opinion but the 3DS is also having to compete against phones and tablets, something the DS never had to deal with.
Well if everyone who is going to buy a 3DS has already done so then they may as well replace the 3DS with the 2DS.LittleWings said:I dunno, I have a feeling they had this planned from day 1, and have left it so long to release it because all the parents who weren't sure about the price/the health aspect of the 3DS have now fallen into one of two camps - 1)No it's too expensive/will melt your eyes so you can't have it or 2)Sod it, go on then, Merry Christmas.WeepingAngels said:Well see, the very existence of the 2DS brings the sales numbers of the 3DS into question. Now that they've fallen into these camps, Nintendo comes along and says to camp 1 here's a cheaper alternative which plays the same games but also doesn't have the eye melt function and costs less. Camp 2 have already purchased the more expensive 3DS.
I don't know numbers, but that's what I think caused the 2DS to exist.
Think it will outsell the 3DS?anthony87 said:What's all the fuss about this? It's cheaper than the 3DS, plays the 3DS games and there's no 3D gimmick.
And that's.......bad?
No idea. Not really concerned either. I've been meaning to get a 3DS but just haven't gotten around to it yet and if a cheaper option is now available then I'm happy. I imagine I'm not the only one who thinks that way.WeepingAngels said:Think it will outsell the 3DS?anthony87 said:What's all the fuss about this? I just don't get this thing, the 2ds emulates a dual screen but in fact it has only one touch screen, nintendo actually aded an plastic protect screen so the top "screen" isn't "touchable", why cripple your hardware, nintendo should have just made this the nintendo tablet or something it would have been better than this piece of cheap crapsubtlefuge said:$130 makes for a really cheap and durable kid's tablet that can play Pokemon and Mario, so it seems like a no-brainer.
I imagine that there are many like you who would sacrifice the 3D for a savings of $40. IMO, this is Nintendo competing against itself.anthony87 said:No idea. Not really concerned either. Doing that would make the 3DS obsolete if any new games used the second touch screen.Drauger said:I just don't get this thing, the 2ds emulates a dual screen but in fact it has only one touch screen, nintendo actually aded an plastic protect screen so the top "screen" isn't "touchable", why cripple your hardware, nintendo should have just made this the nintendo tablet or something it would have been better than this piece of cheap crapsubtlefuge said:$130 makes for a really cheap and durable kid's tablet that can play Pokemon and Mario, so it seems like a no-brainer.
I know this is anecdotal evidence, but I'm going to give it anyways. My younger siblings are 11 and 13 right now, but have had DS' since the age of 7 and 8, respectively. Since then, my brother (11) has gone through three DS' and my sister (13) has gone through 1 because they've broken off the hinges. The 3DS' that they have, at least my brother's, is also starting to loosen. I won't be surprised if he manages to snap one off by Christmas.slash2x said:Snip.
