Treyarch (Call of Duty: World at War) WHAT? They make the worst Call of Duty and Infinity Ward that made CoD4:MW doesn't even show up in the list????

3.Ubisoft Montreal (Far Cry 2, Prince of Persia) Just no. No. No. No. No. Not even top 50...
5. EA Canada (FIFA Soccer 09, NHL 09) same as above.
13. Traveller's Tales (LEGO Batman, LEGO Indiana Jones) you got to be kidding? The guys that make the LEGO games get to be in the list but Naughty Dog or Infinity Ward not?

urg...They should say on the title that this is just for developeres that released stuff in 2008...but this is just crap....

And Blizzard is second, why? What the heck has it put out, other than one slightly lame (imo) expansion? If they are counting revenue generated by what it put out, fine, I'll give Blizz that. But if it's based on any other criteria then they really belong farther on down the list and Bethesda needs to be bumped up. And what about Atlas (no love for Shin Megami and Persona, I see, but meh)? I'm just not so into what Blizzard is GOING to make that I will laud their greatness prematurely. World of Warcraft? Been there, done that. Diablo 2? Been there, done that. Put out something new and I'll see about going there...

They say "Top 50 Developers 2009" that could mean alot. They can mean the best developeres of 2009, the best developers till 2009 bla bla.

They should say "Top 50 developeres that released something in 2008."

As stated in the news post, developers had to release a game in 2008 to be considered eligible for the list.

I know that but I'm not complaining about that. Just complaining about how the title they gave to the list doesn't reflect in what they based. That is the problem.

Its like me making a list of the top 15 Sci-fi villains and the top 3 are Sauron, Hitler and the Shark from Jaws.

Edit: And the real name of the list should be top 15 villains.

Mario Kart Wii at the top? Thats just sad but I guess it goes with all the casual shovelware.
No, Nintendo is at the top, I think you'll find its a list about developers not specific games. Nintendo got there by being well respected and successful developers, MarioKart just happens to be a recently released game, proving their eligibility for the list (a developer was ineligible if they didn't release a game last year).
And please lets not forget that the shovelware is the fault of third party developers that make it, not Nintendo who make some games aimed at the casual market (casual =/= shovelware) but still produce the core games for real gamers.

Okay, now look at EU's Steam store site and tell me they DON'T give a shit. I dare you, I double dare you. 30% for most of the games compared to US store, some games still not updated (Mass Effect is still 45 EUR, so is Fallout 3). Don't look at the history, look at it NOW.
I'm looking, Valve's games are all dead cheap with the exception of L4D which is about 1/2 the original retail price. The complete pack (about 30games) is only £50 odd.

The other games are not Valve's, they don't get to dictate the price so I fail to see how that reflects on them at all. That's like blaming game stores for the price of PS3s, it isn't their fault.

If look at the NOW I see other developers and publishers using Steam without offering the same advantages as Valve. They're the ones who don't give a shit, not Valve.

Is that a picture of Mario in the Braid art style?

Am I going to have to wait around for 2 hours just to get the Secret Stars?

Also, yeah I want Diablo but I've never faulted Blizzard for waiting to put out their stuff until it's as close to perfect as possible. I added to their numbers of the Starcraft battle chest just recently.

Actually, no. US store has normal prices. $20 for Mass Effect? Sure, why not. But they didn't bother to apply the exchange ratio to EU store. Not to mention, they never actually announced it (just happened, one day it was $ and the next was EUR), never explained why they use the F-ed up $1 = 1 EUR change... Simply put, they didn't give a crap about it. And about us.

I mean, it's been few months and they still haven't answered any of the questions people asked. Any normal developer would at least acknowledge the problem.

Phssst. Who needs facts and numbers and sales data when you can create a bracket and have people vote for their favorite? I like The Escapist's system better.

That makes more sense, thanks for that.

I like how it says Mario Kart Wii and Wii fit instead of Legend of Zelda and Mario Galaxy

It's too bad the Blizzard votes are kind of riding the coat-tails of old Blizzard, pre-Activision. It'll be interesting to see what happens when they finally release a game. Will they cater to the fans or cater to the masses?

If you had kids you'd praise them. They are one of the very little companies that managed to make quality games for children (in fact, the only other one that comes to my mind is Nintendo) that also parents can enjoy - they deserve the spot; imho much more than Blizzard (for the only thing they've managed to do in 2008 was ripping off more people with their expansion).
