The Wiiii? Seriously? That better be a fake name. Are Nintendo pulling our legs?

Well if it's more powerful than the 360/PS3 then that's not really that impressive seeing as both consoles are around abouts five years old now.

It's already 2011, this thing better well be more powerful than the PS3/X360.
So, what's the draw this time? More motion gaming?
I'm looking forward to it.

Nope, check the news article under latest content. They're saying it's not going to have any "gimmicks" attached to it. A standard console, so to speak.
Ooh, if that's the case, sign me up. I would LOVE a gamecube 2.0

I'll believe it when I see it.

If it's a new console based around motion controls though, it can go straight to hell.
This. They go back to controller based games and I'll welcome them back into my home.

It doesn't matter who's making a new console at this point, it'll have motion controls. Whether it's Wiimote, Move, or Kinect, there's not likely to be another console based around conventional gamepads.

No. If Nintendo gets dragged down by HD graphics then all is lost.

HD is the most exasperated emoticon I have ever seen. Why? Because it means the devs will begin blowing budgets on high-end graphics. If this happens to Nintendo, then the days of games that are "just fun" are coming to a close.

By "just fun", I mean not casual, indie, AAA or whatever. I mean good old Super Mario Bros. 3. Not to say that serious games don't have a place, just not one under Nintendo's banner.

Why not? I don't see anyone playing BlazBlue or MvC3 with motion control. And it is pointless to put them in RPGs. They aren't as versatile as people believe.

Yay, cos the Wii was shit. No good games and terrible graphics, hopefully that will change and we won't just get a bunch of 1st party sequels again

Motion Controls work great.
Stop being so anti-new stuff.
motion controls dont work very well in my opinion.
also it not anti new because motion control was around way before the wii. i can remember sitting infront of a camera playing... bootcamp? on a ps2 at least 2 years before the wii was released. also i doubt that nintendo can pull off something better than the xbox or ps because its targeted for too young an audience and way too many people would prefer to play a game where you cut some ones face off over a game where you can jump into pits... *damn you mario!*

Amen

I've gotta feeling they won't make it so I can still use the Gamecube controllers, the best controllers ever. Then again, I'm not expecting much from Nintendo anymore anyway :p

Smart move on Nintendo's part if you ask me.Get everyone's wallets drained over our new idea first so when the other guys come over, sales diminish drastically.

This could be interesting. Idly Nintendo will not make their go to console from now on so they can a console more in keeping with PS3, 360 or even PC controls and with more AAA hardcore gamer titles and still pump out shovelwere on the Wii so they're able to do pretty much what they want.

I still adore Mario, Metroid and Zelda. I'd love to see them all in full HD with controls.

That being said I know I won't be able to afford it. Unless they really some really amazing stuff on there, maybe I'll get it 5 years down the line.

Err, newer Mario games would be considered AAA. As would any game developed by Nintendo themselves these days. And HD-quality graphics do not cost a lot these days. Any indie dev can pick up something like the Unreal or ID Tech engines and create something that looks good for little more than the price of their time. Given that Nintendo is already charging the HD rate ($60) for non-HD games, it won't make any difference.
But HD games (with detailed models that demand considerably more work than previous-gen ones) mark the developers spending considerably more time and money on any release. As games have improved graphically, other aspects have worsened. The Wii isn't necessarily limited by making things look pretty (I know it doesn't make much sense, but bear with me). Nintendo had what could have been a really great thing with the Wii, while I don't see the Xbox or PS3 doing any of what nintendo could manage outside of the "indie genre" because, while the technology is accessible, it still takes a lot of time to design the models used in a high-end game.

Zelda is really the only game I can think of that hasn't yet been ruined by getting better graphically.

OH WAIT.

For a new graphical level, a new style of games is needed. We don't have this yet.

Then again, if it fixed Sonic the Hedgehog and Metroid, I might be inclined to buy it.

Yeah; I don't particularly care what Nintendo does, but I hope this doesn't spur Microsoft and Sony into releasing new consoles... I can't really afford a new one right now. :/
